    Probably the most unique and recognized band during the late sixties for their ability to reach out and have influence over the their vast audiences, that is the ability to touch the listeners very soul. Their writings, arrangements are an amalgamation of so many different styles of music, yet seem so right when the final product is introduced to the human ear. Their music over the decades still haunts many of us and for some, it's a spiritual experience. Love you Guys.

      Omgosh!!! I've always enjoyed the Moody Blues, grew up in the 60's. But I didn't know much about music due to my incredible horrible life.....then a few years ago, I found Denny Laine! ❤ He Is AWESOME! I have a 'thing ' for gingers (redheads). Denny Laine is one of the BEST ever. Thankful for the music 🎶 🙌 ❤❤❤

      Seen them live in Ipswich last time they toured..bloody brilliant night and have since seen Justin Hayward 4 times..he's still handsome as ever and a musical genius.

      I couldn't help but crack up at the interview on the precious video,
      They must have lip synced on purpose because he went back and started spoke French after Mike politely asked him to speak English!
      On another interview, Graeme spoke in German. He was one happy rascal!

      @@dennylaine8735 I enjoyed the earlier incarnation of the Moodies (all the early British bands - must have been something in the UK water that produced so many fine artists) as well as the later lineup that was so productive and unusual. In your time, I especially enjoy the filmed version of Pinder's Haven't Really Got the Time. So much energy with Rod Clarke bouncing around. Energy that the later lineup didn't have on the same tune. They were built for other things. Glad that you have so much of your work from then on records. I've listened to them for many decades, as I backtracked when the first albums of the later progressive band were released.

    I love John occasionally mouthing along to Ray's lines in "Dr. Livingstone, I Presume" xD Ray and John were always the most charismatic and lively performers of the Moodies imo

      this is a studio recording, until mid 1980's televised shows almost always required bands to lip-sync or ad-lib. so I agree that they were more than just a studio band... but this is not an example of that.

      @@skandababy Those are absolutely NOT the original studio recordings. I'm very familiar with In Search of the Lost Chord. Ride My See Saw has Justin playing a rhtym guitar only with a different ending. I also hear vocal differences and even mistakes vs. the original recordings. The bass in the intro of Dr. Livingstone I presume isn't the same at all. Do you mean they recorded it off camera then lipsynced...even though they actually plug their instruments in here. The amps are on.

    Great performance even if it looks like the French audience was waiting for the next act, a French ventriloquist and his dog, Bark! The Moody Blues have been awesome since their beginnings! Young, handsome dudes from England!

      John O'Connell The girls weren't the audience. They were staged performers that were supposed to be non-reactive. It was considered to be arty, as it was contrary to the norm. A recurring theme during the sixties.

    You can really hear the Beatles influence in Dr Livingston. My dad played their albums every Sunday when I was growing up. It was a long time coming but they made it to the HOF.

    What I find interesting is the camera focuses on Ray Thomas a lot more in the early video clips.. As I did when I saw him live here in Vancouver, so many times.. R.I.P on Your Astral Plain, Our Cosmic Rocker

      It may be a Lodge song, but Ray sings lead vocal, so of course the camera focuses on him. Too bad he didn't also play rhythm guitar to free up Hayward. This song needs the lead guitar to stand out more.

      Well the Beatles played live for several years but got tired of not being able to hear themselves over the silly screaming girls so stopped doing it and made albums instead.

      @@davidlong1786 as you said they never tried. I love the beatles as much as anyone but Without an orchestra they couldn't reproduce those songs back then. Another reason they stopped touring. Im sure they would do great renditions but if you watch the Moodys live they sound amazing!

    They were legends in the making. Greatest rock band in history but I’ve never seen a band playing to an audience of shop window dummies before!! Guess it was considered cool in 1968.

      PBS had a special about 25 years ago that had a lot of live performances. It was out when "Your Wildest Dream" was a hit. One of the best documentary's of theirs.

    The music of the Moody Blues is like a mystery. I’ve been a fan of this band since I was 20 years old. I can honestly tell you that I believe the music of the moody blues saved my life! Because when I was a young, I discovered that I preferred to listen to their music with clear mind than to sit around and smoke dope.

    Different Moody set up. effective bare bones musical sound. Seated women observing and moodies faces reacting to their and each other vocals is Memorable as they hang on for the musical ride. Thank you for posting peace too all
