Moody Blues - Ride My See-saw
Ride, ride my see-saw,
Take this place
On this trip
Just for me.
Ride, take a free ride,
Take my place
Have my seat
Its for free.
I worked like a slave for years,
Sweat so hard just to end my fears.
Not to end my life a poor man,
But by now, I know I should have run.
Run, run my last race,
Take my place
Have this number
Of mine.
Run, run like a fire,
Dont you run in
In the lanes
Run for time.
Left school with a first class pass,
Started work but as second class.
School taught one and one is two.
But right now, that answer just aint true.
Ah ah ah ah, ah ah ah ah, ah ah ah ah ah
Ah ah ah ah, ah ah ah ah, ah ah ah ah ah
My world is spinning around,
Everything is lost that I found.
People run, come ride with me,
Lets find another place thats free.
Ride, ride my see-saw,
Take this place
On this trip
Just for me.
Ride, take a free ride,
Take my place
Have my seat
Its for free.
Ride, my see-saw.
Ride, ride, ride, my see-saw.
Ride, my see-saw...

One of the best lyrical challenges to human nature there ever was.
I had a roommate who use to wake the entire house up each morning with this song, usually just several hours after we went to bed... Ah, the good old days.
The Moody Blues are sheer class act. The songwriting, arrangements, lyrics, and vocals are exceptional! What a band! The members were discreet and private about their lives and activities; not like some bands that let everything about them get published for their fans to read and see.
Even after all these years it's still a great song. I was 14 when this song came out. Today at 65 I still enjoy it. What a lovely group. They didn't take on any tattoos, nose or ear rings. No pins through the ears. No dyed hair or crazy punk hairstyles. Look at the audience. All respectable people, no shouting. Know how to enjoy themselves. Glad I was around and grew up in that time.
Percy Briscoe They were great just the way they were Justin and John were such fun ! so humble .
I fully agree Margie.
I'm 63,so about the same time! So much more than Knights in white satin
You are right. I Love them too and duran duran seemed to have followed the no tattoos, no earrings policy..just stay clean,
Amen
I may be a bit younger than most Moody Blues fans, but they're one of my fave bands. Why can't modern-day musicians have talent like this?
I think that being a great musician these days is not really appealing anymore...😕
@Jeffrey Hinkel At least, we have RUclips & Spotify if we want to listen to music from that era anytime we want. 😉
@Jeffrey HinkelProbably it’s just a cycle...there will always be people who like real music with talented musicians !
Hopefully, maybe in 10 years from now teenagers will be reacting to their parents musical choices saying that it’s dumb and will start listening to music from that great era we’re talking about !! 😊🎶✨
@Jeffrey Hinkel I hear and agree with everything you are saying. I'm 66.
@Jeffrey Hinkel I agree. I’ll be 65 in 3 months, and you mentioned several of my very favorite bands. The Who, Moody Blues,
Robert Plant, John Paul Jones, Jimmy Page.
I miss going to these concerts, so I watch
them on line. It’s the best way to bring back
the memories. Jimmi Hendrix, Miss them all!
There are no modern day band's anymore... They are the best ever, they dress so classy!!!! They are a class act!!!! Justin and John sing like no one else, perfect... Justin's voice is pure gold... Handsome as ever, sing's beautifully, a true poet...🥀🥀🥀🥀...2022...
2024 agreed! saw
him in Jersey this week!
Loved how they sounded so crisp & smooth. Their harmonies were always perfect. Oh yeah...they could play!
These are the men who brought me from childhood into being a woman. The first time i ever kissed a boy this song was playing on the radio. Now i have two grown sons who are both successful in their lives and the both love The Moody Blues and espically this song
Justin's never received the credit he's always deserved for his unique, rockin' and BLISTERING lead guitar licks. He kept them short and obviously he never aspired to be a guitar god, his leads were always in service to the song... but I'll tell ya as someone who saw them live about six times 1969-72... Justin could START FIRES.
Yes
edfou5 I agree !
I too grew up with this band. Brilliant talent. Agree Justin was underrated. ..
Man...no kidding!!. I think the Moody Blues, despite their commercial success in the 1980s, are still one of the most underrated bands of all time...and Justin, my goodness, he is as much of a musical genius as any of the members of the Beatles...
@@JamesBond-ts3xl I'm a massive Beatle fan but I agree completely.
Legendary Band , Justin and John and the rest are class acts, their music is so great. Blessed to be alive in the 60s and 70s when their music was coming out.. Never gets old.
This is my childhood right here. I grew up on this stuff. Now my dad is teaching my kids what classic rock is all about. LOVE THIS.
Yep keep America alive with moody blues
@@davidredford3111 I'm glad that America appreciates classic British rock.
Their concerts are always so much fun! Great band. They lost their drummer, Graeme Edge, and their flutist, Ray Thomas, recently. So sad. RIP guys! Thanks for being part of an incredible band.
Moodies at there brilliant best
...and what a ride it is!
song was great when I was 20, still great at 70
Oh, I remember it well, I was 18 when this song released! Still love it today...!!!
What can’t Justin do? Everything he does and touches turns to gold!!
this is what i like about them, they all perfom with a big smile. all anjoying them self
This was the first of their truly futuristic super dynamic rock n roll songs
Still listening to them. Awesome
I am 57 and this would be a top 3 of all time. I used to be a disc jockey on an oldies station and I would sneak this song in every shift. Pure magic.
Justin then ,and still is now,a true Guitar God...no arguements about that...!!!!
LOVE that song!
I turn 65 soon. I appreciate them more than ever. Their music is timeless.
This a great groove that hasn't aged at all.
awesome. love this
WoW! After 50 odd years, it still takes off and flies!
They are 'just' singers in a rock and roll band. More than just, they are the best rock band ever.
Holy cow. The way they intro'd this tune, I wasn't sure what to expect......then heard the guitar riff. Perfect. Wow these guys are better than ever. It's great when an original guitarist like Justin keeps his chops up like this. I'm impressed. Vocals....excellent.
goose pimples !!! fantastic tune , played so well after all these years
RIP Ray. You did good... as all of you as a band did. Farewell. The best high I ever had was listening to the Moody Blues.
..LSD 25, on my Yamaha 125 down on the American River at2am, completely FK'd up, YES, it was worth it.
@@gregormiller4037 That is way too funny! Did that once and it took days to recover, less the cycle 😂
How can this band NOT be in the Music Hall Of SHAME!
Because thats what it is.....shame!
What I really is that they all sing alongside each other.
For me there were two bands in the 60s that I listened to the most, the Beatles and the Moody Blues.
There comes a point when you just have to smile at the sun and say it 's been a nice trip.
RIP Ray Thomas. The coolest Blue.
Amazingly well done. The moody blues. The most underrated band ever.
Hayward´s presence on stage is classy.
This song has always been one of my favorites. It rang in as one of the '60s era best!
Love how Justin manipulates the whammy bar like it's a part of him . He is such an excellent guitarist but yet so under rated . Baffles me !
john rush
It shouldn't. Think how long he been doing this. 50 years in the same band. That's AWESOME!!!?!!
Yes , by far one of the best bands of 50 years , but still , Justin is not on any list of 100 greatest guitarists .
+John Rush
Don't let it surprise you ever. These cats knew music and were seasoned players before this band grew together all those years ago. What is now knows as "pros". We are not talking about prophylactics either. Professionals. Their playing a hallmark in rock and they know it. They never had anyone competing with them did they? I have been the musicians union since I was just kid and they were a subject of conversation at all of the meetings. I remember jazz players getting all slack jawed at the playing they saw as a revolution. I pray for Justin to happy with what he did. All of them should have all of their "sins" washed free from their souls. Mike Pinder and his use of synthesizers and mellotron set the standard for all of the putzes who followed. I mean that. Try listening to Emerson,Lake and Palmer. The same sounds that they counted on to message out to many acid heads as possible. God bless them.
Robert plant
Other guitarists appreciate Hayward's brilliance. He isn't flashy or obvious. His use of tone, layering, melody, feedback, and restraint has made him legendary among the better guitarists.
The Strat looks funny in his hands. I'm so used to seeing the 335
Justin makes the solos look so easy. He makes picking look so effortless.
After 50 years, it's still a great song!
This video brings tears to my eyes- so many years of enjoying their great music. I've seen them 6 times live, and every show has
been great- so good.
I got to see them 7 times, 6 in California, 1 in Phoenix. From '74 to '05, every one a great performance.
While everyone was listening to the Beatles the stones the beach boys songs I was listening to the moody blues in 1969 days of futures past album and I was only 7 y.o.
This song ALWAYS seems to be their encore when I go to their concerts! They get BETTER & BETTER every year!
Some of the best rock and roll you will ever hear.
This was my very first Moody Blues song i turned on to. And, I was hooked. I'm an American rocker, but have always loved the Brit music better. For a little island they pack alot of talent there, for sure.
A first for me. Fun and vibrant...a feelgood song. Thanks Justin. 12/23
this is my all time favorite song, it makes me want to get up and dance even if I am 81, I said before I appreciate their music more now than I would have in the 60's, they are great and I do have one other I really love New Horizons makes me cry every time
How are you doing now? Yes! I'd love to dance to this!
Ditto, Irene! I'm also 81 and still love the Moody Blues!
Go Renee!..
Irene. Glad at ur age.Enjoying there Music. For Young to Old.. We All Need Our Music..
Best band ever grew up.with them
This song sure rocks for a 50 year old tune.
Saw the Moodies in 1970 in San Diego, CA. They were light years ahead then and haven’t slowed down! Love ‘em!!!
My mum and dad had most of the Moody Blues albums when i was a teenager back in the 80's and i am so glad to have been introduced to them. Still one of my favorite bands and have been to see them three times in the 80's and 90's. Long live the Moody Blues.
Always a Family Affair here when seeing The Moody Blues.....
apriliafool I
'80's Hell, try my generation. From the late '60's early '70's when I started listening. Still Classic !
Sooo there! After all these years. 10 times better than the original from '68. That's what i call wooow😊😊😊
Graeme seemed like he loved every minute of his career. Many succeed and find a way to be miserable anyway, but that guy seemed like he was where we all would like to be.
these guys Still Have It !!! I'm 65 and I still remember to this day how I would Leave my record player on repeat for the whole side of this record till I woke up!!
Justin Hayward can really do that Lead guitar! I first heard this back in '68; a Trip!
One of my blessings is to have lived and grown old with Moody Blues music. A gift
This is the best live rendition I've heard, and it's the latest! They're at the top of their game 50 some years after they started. Talk about hanging in there!
..Most definitely my favorite Moody Blues tune..guitar riffs are epic..
The sixties were a musical supernova of different styles and types of music.
I think I was there for this moment, just everlasting !
Kiváló Banda , kiváló zene ! Mindig jó hallgatni !😊
for me, it was the Beatles first and then this band. They were fantastic and still are and Justin is a flat out babe!
Semplicemente fantastico. Il nostro mondo i nostri sogni. Tutto olera possibile. Oggi che ho settant'anni solo grande nostalgia...in attesa della fine. Un abbraccio a tutta l'umanità.
At 71, I agree 👍
This song, like the Band itself, is an Epic journey of invigoration. Incredible memories of when I was a young boy and could fly across the ocean on a beautiful sound of the 60's.
Their sound is so unique. I heard them on the radio over and over again while I was in the army. I had no idea what the band looked like. I just loved their sound.
The whole idea of the Moody Blues is a little one of kind. Great progressive rock done with top line playing and great sound layering. Imagine having the Royal Symphony backing you up. If nothing else it keeps everybody honest. No mistakes. No errors, all hits and nothing but home runs. I will thank RUclips right till the end for bringing this back to me. I listen to this and I'm 15 again. Dropping acid and being a happy young man with a heart full of love for everything on this planet. Now I'm a dying old man with a heart full of love for most of the planet. Maybe that is what life teaches. Restraint? That can't be right. Peace. Now that's right.
Man, they still got it!! I heard this back in '68 from "In search of the lost Chord" and it was awesome like going into Outer Space.
So happy to have rediscovered this song.
although Justin Hayward is my fave I really enjoy when the boys sing altogether !
great, beautiful voices harmony, amazing MoodyBlues....
This is rock! Qualifies as an anthem.
My husband likes their Music. Specially Classic Blue by JUSTIN HAYWARD.🎵🎶💖
The absolute greatest guitar solo in all of rock hisrory. Simply put, and perfectly placed.
No way..Ace Frehley Detroit Rock City is
@@jamesmay5860 that one is pretty good. Like my choice, simple and well placed. I still am going to stick with ride my seesaw. I can however see how you like your choice.
Seeing this band from the originals until now is bliss. I saw them with Graeme which was beyond classic, then I was fortunate to them over ten times over the next 20 years.
Like a fine wine. Gets better with time.
Lets face it folks, their an EPIC band!!! Seventh Sojourn was one on my favorites, but I actually loved them all from my youth in the 60s until old man now at 60!!!! Hahaha!
Still gives me goosebumps after all these years!
Me too.
Love it when the Moody's rock (Eyes of a Child II, The Story in Your Eyes, The Voice, I'm Just a Singer...)
I love this live version of Ride My See Saw. It rocks!!! The only thing better than being there would be to be onstage singing with them!!!!
How great is that. These guys may have aged but their sound is still so memorable and brings back so many memories.
This album highlighted the great song writers the Moody Blues were becoming.
Magnificent!!
My girlfriend brought the best of them on tape with her - it was in the eighties in Hawaii - the golden years with Moody Blues playing as the perfect background
It's good to see old men still singing. That was 15 years ago.
Yeah this is one of my favorite songs by the band oh yeah
The Moody Blues, there's nothin more to say.
What CAN you say about these guys? The Moodies are the GREATEST!
I agree
Wowza!! Deepest of respect to Ray Thomas for being there. Twasn't easy for him; nonetheless his smile, (as they say) 'paid the bills'. Right, and to his bandmates as well!😉
What passion, such genius ! The boys have had their life energies on the pulse of the universe for years. I can't describe the emotional pull their music has on my soul. Same now, as in the beginning. Thank you so much, Moody Blues.
Great band, great tune.....
so much talent here for everyone.i will treasure this band until death do us part
It wasn’t until years later that I really appreciated the Moodys. This being because there was soooo much quality music and musicians around during the 70’s. Even some of the bad bands were 100% better than what there is nowadays. The emergence of boy bands really got me. Bands? They couldn’t play air guitar; let alone the real thing and,, sing. The tracks of our years are the bands like the MBlues.
This song more true today than ever. Not dated or old sounding at all. They look great and happy after all these years. Still this song is in my top 5 favorites. MIND EXPANDING MUSIC>
Early 70s I saw the Moody Blues at the Oakland Coliseum and it was magical.
Still love them after 40 years
God Bless the Moodies.
They don't make music like that no more...
Legends.
I am 60 and remember these guys from childhood..How amazing that they performed for so long
The Moody Blues were and always will be awesome
...nuff said
Magnificent, even 55+ years later!
My favorite band.
One of my dads favorite
LIES neo, you told me just the other day it was Led Zep, then you said CCR, then you said Stones, I can't keep-up with you anymore!
Me too!!!!!!
Me too.
I think thats the first and only time i have ever heard anything live that sounds that good.
I wasnt born in the 60s but they rock!!
