Just an idea if they are trenching for water maybe add another pipe for electrical. To the chicken coop and also the greenhouse. I say that because of watching Laura and Aaron on Garden Answer. He always adds both so if you need it, it's there. Best to tare it all up once lol. Thank you as always for sharing! Can't wait to see how it all looks!

Becky as a biologist that has studied plants, I can tell you a lot of plants prefer slopes. One example is the blueberries that you love! So maybe on the far reaching corner there where the slope is increased, you can use it to the advantage of certain plants such as blueberry. May as well put certain vegetation somewhere that it wants to be, if you’re going to be wanting some of that anyway. EDITED TO ADD: well heck as soon as I unpaused the video and continued to watch it you brought up putting blueberry bushes there!

Don't forget raccoons like trees too. So because of the chicken location. You will have to have a cover over you chicken area under the trees. Love the process you are making. Raised beds are so much better. The weeds are killers to pull from ground soil. I tried the ground soil garden for a few years. So much work. So I went to pot planting.

Wow Becky, your such a busy lady. I don't know how you do it all! Being young is for sure a blessing! The more raise beds is a good idea! What the other people said about putting the electrical in also with the water is a great idea. You'll need it for lights, etc. Then you won't have to dig it up again to put the electrical in. I'm excited to see this all done. I'm 73yrs & didn't do much gardening. Just tomatoes 🍅 cucumbers carrots 🥕 & then flowers petunias, snapdragons, violets, geraniums. Maybe a few herbs. Chives, sage, etc. It's getting harder for me to do it. But I try. You are helping me to want to do some gardening. So I'll see. I'm so glad for you to get your painting done!!! You might have a few come in where you place your planting holes. They say it's good for five years possibly more. You can get it in rolls up to 15 foot wide. Makes in ground gardening a lot easier.

My parents have 2/3 of an acre & they do all their own work, but they have built a pond in every home they have owned. For 15+years in NM it's been a registered wildlife habitat. Their koy fish are sooooo big now & they have chocolate mint growing around their entire koy pond. My mom loves it because my grandfather is a Marine & woodworker so he built my mom a new wooden Easel & a huge yoga platform so when she meditates, paints or does yoga by the pond each morning she smells chocolate mint. It's calming & wakes you up plus she said the smells & environment reminds her of Japan where my grandfather was stationed for part of her childhood.

Love the raised beds. Good idea to skip the unground gardens for now. And I’d use all those beds to start all of my perennials from seed, just grow them on for a year then, keep multiplying and spreading throughout the property over the next couple of years using all those new beds and the future greenhouse .. imagine lines of English lavender, sedums, echinacea, etc perennials.. all grown from seed on your property. And then I’d empty them all out again and do my annual cut flowers and vegetables. 👌🏻 Excited for you. Looks beautiful.

The inground garden will be fine for your pumpkins and winter squash and if you get the commercial weed fabric from Growers Solutions in the 6' x 300' rolls, burn holes in it every 3 feet and plant in the holes for a no-weed, no critter hiding in the weeds garden! The perfect spot to grow your 300-pound pumpkin! I have it under my tall raised beds and you could pay it down and put your boards on the edge to keep the edges clean of weeds too. A leaf blower keeps the fabric cleared and nice looking with the bonus of no walking in mud or displaced mulch which will also allow weeds to grow. I have mulched the areas around my garden and the fabric is visible but it is aesthetically appealing to the eye.

Your slope looks similar to mine! I've done the same with blueberries, blackcurrants, redcurrants, raspberries and honeyberries at the lower part of the veg patch - shade on the rest of the veggies isn't an issue! We have 18 beds and the length was done to the length of the planks! So 4ft x some metric measure close to 15 feet. I'm now experimenting with a permaculture tree guild and have a cherry tree and a mulberry tree. So far underneath the roots is one spare garlic clove and a few elephant garlic "babies". Next up on order are two plum trees and a damson and lots of strawberries!
Your plot is coming along very well. It is exciting to see it all pull together. The dry river bed is a lovely feature too. Thank you.

Becky everything looks fantastic. Moving along. Love the Boulder wall in back and the dry creek in front. It'll look so pretty when things are planted.

I love the dry river bed front landscaping! I lived in AZ for many years and we had them in our landscaping. I want to do it again at my next home. ☺️

I followed your lead and bought "Gossamer Veil" paint for our newly designed master bath & kitchen. Your description & seeing the color on the videos sold me. And I LOVE it!! Thank you!!

Great progress...happy for you...raised boxes are a better choice. As you age it gets harder to get on the ground to garden. Raised boxes keep the moisture in better as well. Cut grass clippings work as mulch. I use it every year. One bit of advice make a temporary fence like you did at your other house, around the chicken coop. Contain your chickens. The crew may tell you that the chickens are not a problem. I know better. My husband and sons do construction and building yard landscape. Chickens slow them down and get in the way. They have to constantly watch that they don't hit them with shovels. And other equipment. Your workers could go faster if you get those chickens out of their way. They don't want to make you made so they are putting up with them. For the safety of your hens contain them for now.

When you mentioned your raised beds I wonder if you are making the sides higher! I know you’re young now but as you get older it is a game changer not having to bend over so far or get on your knees! Or maybe, they can make them so you can add height in the future! So excited for you!

You’ll NEVER regret investing in raised beds. I’m 52 and I love my raised garden beds. They’re 26” tall and to be honest, I’m looking at the feasibility to adding another 6-ish” because I’m tired of bending over. LOL
