    Nice review! But I don't understand how you Cana compare a Cayman starting used with 10k and a Cal starting at 100k Euros. Porsche is a lovely car, but Ferrari is a dream car. I like the difference! ;-)

    Your review was very very helpful. I appreciate the honesty with everyone else gushing online about the car. I have a Cayman and was considering a California. I think I will just enjoy what I have and save my money. Thanks again.

      Not the same car at all. I only have experience with the Cali T, not the Cali, so a little different, but the Cali T is a bigger gt car. With that being said, the ferrari is way, way more exciting. The Cayman, as I'm sure you know, is a tighter more purpose built sports car for the twisties. Not a good comparison. The cali T does have 100 more bhp and 200 more lb ft than this car tho so do with that as you will.

    I own a beautiful Rosso Corsa with tan interior 08 F430 spider. You pretty much nailed it! That was about the best honest assessment of owning and driving a Ferrari I’ve heard.
    All the negatives aside, there’s NOTHING like cruising down the road in my car!

    Purchased a 2012 California one month ago. Love it ! Just came out of a 2016 Z06 I had for 4 great years. Made me realize that the corvette is the best bargain in the world. No comparison power wise , the corvette is just brutal. I also own a GLC63 coupe that will beat the ferrari hands down .But can’t deny the surreal feeling of driving a Ferrari down the road. Can’t describe it but it is real.
    Let’s chat 1 year and see how it goes .

      Questions for you, can you fit a golf bag in the trunk of it and are the backseats really useless? I have a c7 stingray and I’m thinking of getting a California myself. Mainly because I have a z51 with no magnetic ride control so it is always stiff. Beats up my back

      The 2013-14 Cali 30 has significant better track performance, and clearly better performance over the MB SUV you mentioned. You bought the wrong model year.

    981 Cayman S owner here. Ive been eyeing the Cali for a while as they are now good value and slowly coming into reach. . Its not an everyday car though so would have to buy a polo as a daily. COO puts me off too so perhaps some fantasies are best left to the imagination.

    So glad I found this video. Iam a diehard Ferrari fan! And Iam a cyclist and all of my bikes are Colnago(4 of them) and they have a long history with Ferrari and even Enzo himself. With that said, I have an ‘06 Aston Martin Vantage manual, love it to death! Consider possibly trading up to a Cali or similar... but, at the same time Iam kind of in the same boat as Sonny. My AM is my DD bc she’s that good. Get a lot of admirers, but everyone respects her and I get a lot of stares and compliments. It is a little more in your face than a Porsche I suppose, but very subdue compared to a Ferrari. I agree with everything Sonny says, but Iam also a very sentimental person and would feel like I lost a close family member if I let my AM go I feel. So that’s where I stand.

      Tommy Freckmann Thanks for sharing your thoughts here, most appreciated. Cars are more than mechanical machines. We need to connect with them on an emotional level. For example whenever I see an Austin Metro (old British car) it takes me back to being 17 years old in my first car. I was lucky enough to drive the latest new Aston Martin. Go to the “subscriber cars” playlist and look for a guy called Neil. Even though it was a nice ride, I felt no historical connection with the brand. Give me James Bonds Aston Martin from the 70’s and know we’re talking!! You gotta do whatever keeps you happy👍🏼 I totally understood everything Sunny said in this video.

    Great video very informative. I drive a red GR86. The colour is very reminiscent of Rosso Corsa ❤. Obviously that's no comparison to the California. But both share a small similarity regarding form factor which is what attracted me to the GR86. I love that car so much. Very usable as a daily as you do get extended trunk space when when folding dpwn the "back seats". I was debating on either getting an F-Type 4 cylinder or the GR86. Went for the GR as I knew it'd be much less of a headache on everything maintenance - wise. So far that held true. Also, was my forst RWD car and I wanted to learn how to drive these before adding more power. I absolutely love coupes. I will go out of my way to always drive a coupe whatever it may be. If life permits it, at some point I'd like to progress to an Emira, preferably in red with black roof and the V6. I have been warming up to and appreciating Ferrari which is why your clip appeared in my thread. I'd love to one day drive something like the California T or maybe even the Portofino, in Rosso Corsa of course but that's decades and a lot of luck away. Let's see. For now I enjoy the moment in my street legal gocart ❤ fun fact, when I drive on the highway, on the left lane (would be right in the UK), cars get out of the way 😂 cars that easily have >100hp more than me. I guess they think uh something flat and blood red approaching, must be a fast car 😂😂😂

    I really enjoyed this video, as I’m in the same position as Sunny, thinking if buying one but scared sh*tless about the cost of fixing it if it goes wrong! But he’s totally wrong about there being a £10k premium for a red one. Most of the ones for sale are red or black and there is NO premium for red. Because of its big rear end it actually doesn’t suit red or any other light colour - best is dark grey (grigio silverstone) or Tour de France blue.

    Very good review! I think you will be disappointed if you want to be sporty with the California, it's a GT car as well as a convertible. It's not made for track use. If your looking for a Italian GT car, this is a great choice from the looks of it especially at today's used market values!

    Great review. Agree that there is no premium for a red California! I think you can't compare a California and a Cayman. There are totally different styles of cars. In terms of holding value, if you spend £65k on a California today, and I can almost guarantee that (if you look after it) you will probably get your money back in 10 years. Your £65k Cayman will be worth £10k max. But, as I said, different cars and hard to really compare.

    I really enjoyed this, but I have to say that red is actually about the worst colour for a Cali (OK, maybe yellow is wise).
    It emphasises the bulk, especially the rear end, inflated to hold the roof. They look best in subdued colours, black or dark blue, though the best colour is surprisingly metallic grey - the grigio Silverstone.
    And why didn’t you drop the roof for the drive - it’s the whole point of owning a Cali, as you can then really hear that wonderful V8!

    • @MAXREVS
      @MAXREVS  4 года назад

      Hehehe, nice comments. Why didn’t we drop the roof during the drive? Our commentary would have been drowned out by that glorious engine and wind noise.

    • @Isalei84
      @Isalei84 4 месяца назад

      It's true that the look is a personal preference, but you saying that red is the worst color for a Cali is a distortion of reality. Maybe you have one in a different color and you're biased, it's the only explanation. BTW, any Ferrari looks better in red, and that is a fact confirmed by the history and the market.

    • @probono3284
      @probono3284 4 месяца назад +1

      @@Isalei84 It can't be a `distortion of reality', as it's an entirely subjective judgment, not a question of fact. But it's generally agreed that bright colours like red or yellow only look good on small cars, and the Cali is by no means a small car. Many people agree, but will still buy a red Ferrari as they believe (wrongly) that other colors will be harder to sell on.

    This California works better in America. Our fuel is half priced [$2.79/US gallon for 93 octane premium]. More people drive so there's less need for back seats or cargo everyday. The sun shines more. Best of all we can drive faster on more wide open highways.

      It is funny isn't it, sports car flappy paddle autos are generally more expensive than manuals opted when purchased new by woosey purchasers, and by the time the car becomes affordable for an enthusiast manual opted cars become super rare and more expensive. I hope that happens to my manual cayman.
