I had someone from "The Social Security Department" try to scam me. They told me that my name and SSN were associated with some crazy crime in Brownsville, TX. My info was found in a rental car and there was blood everywhere. I just happened to have a job where I work with PII and knew they were full of it, but I played along anyways. Told them "Whoa, that sounds serious!" and they were threatening to have the cops come and arrest me. I kept them on the phone for a good 30 minutes or so and then told them they were trying to scam me and they didn't like that too much.
And they told you to buy gift cards to stop the warrent, thats a scam and they say the police will put you behind the bars and social security stopped your bank account and ssn and they target the elderly because they know theyre not tech savy and will be easier to lie to an manipulate, and if you download anydesk and login to your bank they will edit the page to make it seem like they cleaned you out so dont fall for it and dont download anything they want you to down load and they will call you from amazon and paypal claiming there has been charges to your account.
I live about 45 minutes from Brownsville, and we do have some crazy crimes down here. 😂 Glad you fucked with them. They deserved it.
I luv it when they get mad at you for not falling for it. I had my rounds with them as well. Dude was yelling at me because i hung up on him. He kept calling and i kept hanging up.

I understand the urge, but I wouldn't advise it. Doing this kind of thing safely (safe for you and safe for victims) is very important and if you don't know what you're doing, you could cause unintended problems.

I'm an IT student. This is how they get your number/account without using phishing scams or links.
Top Company > Sub company > open source > scammers.
Companies like Google and other Big tech sell your information to other big companies, those big companies sell your info to sub companies, as this repeats, it gets to the black market and scammers.
Basically a friend of a friend type of situation, even if your friend is trustworthy, their other friends are not.
Another one is through hacking Big tech companies and selling your information to other scammers in the black market.

These call centers are heated so much by the locals that the locals will help. Some people have had people get inside and make videos, or moles. The companies sent people to track the foreigners taking them down. They'll also sent packages of rats to the scammers.

Got one of those stolen bank /credit card scam calls once, I didn’t have a bank account, I thought someone stole my identity and was building up my credit so I told the person on the phone to let them do whatever they are doing.
if it makes u feel nervous, call the non emergency line and ask. if they tell you not to, automatically, they suss
