Thank you! I did find these tips helpful! I would love if you'd show how to do images and not just lettering decals. I know you do quite a lot, but I have been trying to do a printed vinyl image and having issues. I don't know if its just too big or what. Just gonna keep trying lol :) Very excited to see the foil / holographic / glitter ones!

Your tutorials are the BEST ! Thanks for sharing. Quick...TWO...questions...would you ever use a heat gun to warm the vinyl, making it more malleable ? And second, just curious...is it ok to use brand names on tumblers ? I’ve seen it a lot but never asked.

When I was growing up they put the letter of the last name in the center. Is that what you do or have they changed that. I ordered one off Etsy and it came with the first name in the middle as the biggest letter

I get mine from eBay. It is a medium take tape that you can choose the width depending on what you want to use it for. I have the 4”
hi, I'm new to making decals and looking for transfer tape to buy. Is this the only TP you use for all your decals? does it work with all kind of vinyl? thanks great video :) lots of great info
The one I use is a medium tack transfer tape and it doesn’t work with everything. The vinyls that it doesn’t work with I either flip the image onto the table and rock the backing off or I will use a really tacky painters tape and use that to transfer my decal. It’s mostly those glitter vinyls, and thick foil vinyls I have a hard time with. It also depends on the backing. If the backing of the vinyl is paper it tends to not want to be released from it, but if it’s that thin slick almost like parchment paper backing, it comes right off with the transfer tape I use.
Can you do the water method like they do with sign vinyl?
I know some people do this, I haven’t though. It is something I’d like to try and see if it works.

Do you sand your first layer of epoxy before you add the decal?
It depends on if it needs it. If I’m doing a glitter base I may need to sand down any lumps for a smooth decal application. But for just a painted surface with epoxy over it it should be smooth and I don’t sand.
How would you apply a sky line?
When I apply skylines I make a line to follow around my tumbler that I can erase or cover with my decal as I go. I make slits in the transfer tape and as I wrap it I line up the bottom to the line I made and remove the transfer tape as I go so I can manipulate the vinyl to line up.

Thank you Bambi for the kind words. I’m sure yours are beautiful too!! I’ve just always been into art since I was young. After doing it for a couple of years I’m just used to the process.

Vinyl comes in all sizes from rolls to sheets. I guess it depends on how many projects you’ll be making as to buying either a whole roll vs a sheet. If you are just starting out you can get the sheets to play with and get to know your cutting machine.
