- In this video, I’ll show you how I measure and mix my epoxy. I’ll also go over 3 different application methods and the pros and cons of each.
Also, Nitrile Gloves are always recommended when using epoxy. When I made this video COVID was at its peek and I choose to leave the proper gloves for those with an immunity deficiency, the elder, and medical workers. Please wear the proper PPE when working with chemicals. When in doubt contact the maker of the epoxy you use for recommendations on what to use.

Loved this video! Beginner here, and found it very helpful. Can I still cure my tumblers if I don’t have a cup turner? (Not sure what it’s really called)
Love it thank you for showing so many different ways. Normally all I see is Epoxy method but they do not go into detail about timing, or waiting vs rapid use. As always you are a gem and a huge help!!
This was super helpful seeing the different methods. I was wondering what I was doing wrong as my tumblers are coming out too lumpy and now I know it’s because I was not letting the epoxy sit for a while before applying, thank you so much for this video!
Thank you! I didn't realize I could control this! Thank you again! 🥰
I just want to say THANK YOU for sharing your info! I just ordered epoxy and looking at a where to get a reasonable Turner as I just want to try it. I watched your DIY to make one but I dont have the tools 😫. You're a sweet soul!
Hobby lobby has Spin It turners for relatively cheap.
I know this is 9 months old and I dont know if you ever got a turner. But, I found one on amazon for 30 bucks
Aw thank you Lucy, we actually built mine using Sandy's video
@@sweetericka09 oh! I am so glad!!!! i am building one right now! starting a business
@@LucyGar23 ohh cool! Are u on Instagram? If so add me @craftyericka
You are very good at teaching. This video is very professional! Thanks for making it!
Thanks this really help. I prefer to have mine thicker as well I notice less bubbles and it comes out so much better
Thank you that explains why we're not been doing mine they don't come out smooth but sometimes have like eighties that don't completely filled in even though like when I am done messing with it is all smooth but as it stays on the turner it gets to where spots are not covered
You're a LIFE SAVER!!!! BABAAAAAY when I tell you I hate the mod lodge method... whew.. thank you so much!! **new subscriber **
This was a great teaching tutorial 😊 Things that make you say Hmmmm🤔
This was very informative thank you for taking the time to do this.
great comparison video thanks so much!
Excellent demonstration and video! Learned so much!!!
I’m 14 and I like doing this and this was very informative and helpful
So happy to help you out Parker!
Awesome information. I am just starting and this was great to learn, tfs.
Your video is great!!! It’s very informative! Thank you! ❤❤❤
Another great video and most definitely a problem solver.
Thank you.
Very helpful video. Do you apply the epoxy right over both glitters (fine and chunky)? How long do the tumblers take to cure?
Hello, thank you so much for your video. I have a question… what causes holes and pull back in the resin when curing?
Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video! Its explained so much! Thank you thank you thank you
This was very helpful. I am getting frustrated with my tumblers, it looks as though the epoxy has pooled all around the tumbler and in places it is 1/2 inch ridges. Could this have to do with the epoxy??
Thank you for this video! I’m new at this and I just trash what’s left instead of doing another coat. I was wondering why it was so smooth and thick when I just let it sit. Now I know.
I liked you video, thx for sharing. I wanted to know how you made your turner, as I am new to this.
Thank you for sharing your work with us 😀. All of them a Beautiful🤩‼️‼️‼️
The pumps for your resin is a GREAT idea!!! Are they specifically for the resin containers?
Do you add more epoxy after the glitter in the last technique or is the first coat enough once the glitter is applied? How long do you keep them on the turner?
Thank so much ❤
Bless you Sandy.
Your video is nice and I really like the way u explained everything can you please do one with a plastic cup I get that people don’t like plastic cup but someone gifted me my first turner and I want to practice❤
Fabulous tutorial. May i ask where to buy the pump action adaptors please?
This video has become so helpful !!! I just have a quick question .... I always make sure my cup is clean and the stickers are well placed on but when I put the expoxy it quickly starts to show bubbles and I have tired everything ! Please help !!!
Great advice. Thanx 👍
That was a big help now I know what I was doing wrong. Thanks
Glad I could help!
Thanks for the wonderful tips. I do have a question, how do you prevent the epoxy making dips onto the cup
After you drizzle the sparkles in do you spray it with adhesive glue before you add another resin layer?
Great tips. Thank you!
You’re welcome 😊
Great tips! Thanks
So mixing a letting it sit before pouring onto the tumbler ie best?
I have a question. With the white one, you don't put a coat of epoxy over the glitter??
When you use a vinyl do you use the same method?
First I want to say that I love your designs! My question is do you sand every tumbler? Second question, why use Alumilite Epoxy? I’m trying to find one that is easy to work with.
On the last way you showed do you have to seal it with another coat of epoxy so it is shiny and smooth??!
Great tips, thank you
You’re welcome!
Do you coat the rim of the tumbler with epoxy & leave it or trim the epoxy off the rim?
Loved it thanks but what tumblers do you recommend when starting out?
Great question! The Stainless Depot offers practice tumbler bundles. These Tumblers have slight defects making them unsuitable for regular sale but are great for practicing! thestainlessdepotcompany.com/products/practice-on-these-cups-bundle-20-units-2-each
How do the little measuring cups get cleaned out for reuse ?
Holy cow you are amazing. Thank you so much for explaining this, I had no idea 😳. Great tutorial!!!
You’re welcome!
So I decided to switch to alumilite (because it’s what you use and they are having a 20% off sale). I can’t find the dang pumps anywhere. Any ideas?
I’m sure there are other pumps available, but I got mine from Alumilite. Maybe reach out to their support and see if they know when they’ll be back in stock. The pumps are not 100% needed, but it sure makes it a lot easier. Good luck on your search.
great tips thank you so much!!
You’re very welcome!
Is the straight from mix coster vs 10 min coster, more flat in first case? It looks like that, when you see light reflections straight from mixing looking glass flat when in the 10 minutes waiting you can see light breaking in the not even surface, isn't it?
Do you prep the cups before doing the epoxy like sanding
So after the silver glitter was put on did you use resin again?
So interesting! Thanks
You’re welcome!
I am so curious now, my tumbler i just made which is my first one ever. The epoxy keeps creating holes where the epoxy just leaves a circle with nothing.. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong
This was one of the most helpful videos. Thanks for everything. I just ordered a lot of your glitter.
Great tips
Thank you!
I am worried that my basement will be too cool to work on tumblers down there. Can you give any advice on this?
When you use the last epoxy method where you put the chunky glitter, don't you have to epoxy again over it?
Beginner here! Do you mix A & B the whole time?
So the last technique is the better way. Mix stir and apply what is different between 1 and 3 I’m missing something? Thank You!
Method 1 is using mod podge to adhere the fine glitter, then applying the chunky glitter with the epoxy. If you don’t let the epoxy sit and thicken, the chunky mix will run up the tumbler.
Method 3 skips the mod podge and you apply both the fine and chunky directly to the epoxy on the tumbler.
How do you get a smooth surface? I’m doing little 1.5 gallon trash cans with a clear coat. But my first coat is all sort of uneven right now. It’s been spinning about 1.5 hours.
Any tips appreciated :)
I just want to know how many ml's of A & how many ml's of B epoxy are needed for tumblers? I know it needs to be the same ratio but I need to know how much of each (ie 5ml, 10ml, etc)
It depends on the size of the Tumbler. Everyone uses different amounts. 20 OZ I use 10 ml A and 10 mil B! 30 OZ I use 20mil A and 20 Mil B. You have to figure that out actually. It depends on you
They say 10-20ml for tumblers 😊
Thank you. You mentioned something about sanding the chunky glitter ? What do you mean?
how much money do you usually have in the tumblers? if i got 32 resin how many tumblers can i make. or how many out of 1 galan? wife was thinking of doing this .
I just made my first tumbler. No glitter or color. For some reason the epoxy wrinkled as it was curing. And I don’t know why. I sanded it down and began again. It happened again. Is it because I didn’t let the epoxy rest?
Yea cuz that happens to me when I don’t let it rest
So which way is better I'm sorry I quite didn't understand
Wow! Your designs and tumblers are so beautiful.
That was amazing! How do you get the top and bottom of the cup covered so it does not come out rough?
Thank u
Thank you for all these tips Sandy. You make some really helpful videos. I’m curious, I’m working on a tumbler now that just will not stop dimpling. I’ve read a bit about it and my temperature is steady and I covered the tumbler to prevent dust the second time, but it’s still getting dimples. 😕 any tips on dimples??
Ah, just watched your fisheye video. So then my new question is, can I spray clear coat over this cost of epoxy before my final coat to get this stuff to stick? I’ve sanded in between epoxy coats to try to fix and it just keeps pulling away. In those areas.
I’m just starting out, this is very helpful! I’m curious why nothing shifted doing all the glitter right away with just epoxy vs how much things moved when you did the glitter right away on top of the mod podge. Does that question make sense?
Thank you for your great videos...I’ve been binge watching lol. Can you tell me where you got and what type pumps you use?
I got them straight from Alumilite.
How do I get the waves out? Everything is level and I'm still getting waves around the cup. Very frustrated
Where did you purchase the big bottles of A&B? These kits come with small bottles. Thank you for your time😊
Help! My epoxy seems to have dips, digits or craters…what an I doing wrong? I am stirring, mixing and scraping the sides but nothing seems to be helping 😩. Any ideas??
I just bought this one do you wear a mask with this ?
Great video
Thank you 😊
How do you get a smooth finish? I keep getting streaks… Not sure if it’s applied too thin, too thick, but I am soooooo frustrated! Thanks, Debbie
Great Tips. Why do I get dents in my epoxy?
I’ve been watching your videos, I’m new to doing tumblers. My first one I got lots of fish eyes. I saw one of your videos you added clear coat.. I’m confused with this video are you adding the clear coat ? If you don’t have a video, can you show from starting a cup to end? Thank you. Your videos help!!
Sometimes those chunky glitters are a bit to slick and tend to wick the epoxy away. I like to use Rust-Oleum 2x ultra spray sealer before the epoxy to help it have something to hold onto. I will make sure to make a video from start to finish or I’ll talk about it in my next vlog.
Thank u so much
I am just beginning and this has been helpful! One big question I've been having is, how to get the bubbles out? Hair dryer? Do you spread the epoxy over the cup and then go back with a hair dryer?
I use a kitchen torch that you can buy off Amazon. The hair dryer will heat up the epoxy helping remove bubbles but I’ve found using a torch to quickly pass over the epoxied tumbler gives much better results.
@@SandysOrganizedChaos thank you!
Thanks for your videos I really enjoy watching them. Couple of questions what do you do about bubbles and dust. I keep having issues with little specks I believe to be dust. It doesnt matter how clean my craft room is. Any help would be appreciated.
I’ve learned to not let slight imperfections bother me. What may seem like a huge deal to me, the customer never sees. I’m sure you are doing your best to keep those bubbles and particles to a minimum. Art is never perfect. In the end all your customers will see is something handmade just for them.
That was very interesting Sandy, thank you once again for a great teaching vlog!!(:
Thank you, Annette!
you all probably dont give a shit but does any of you know of a tool to log back into an Instagram account..?
I somehow lost the account password. I would appreciate any tips you can give me!
@Aarav Wallace instablaster =)
@Jermaine Brixton thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site thru google and im trying it out atm.
I see it takes a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
@Jermaine Brixton It did the trick and I actually got access to my account again. I'm so happy:D
Thanks so much, you saved my ass !
I use the same resin… where did you get pumps for these?
Can I ask, I’ve just started my first tumbler. I had it spray painted black first. Then I did a thin layer of 1:1 epoxy and as I was spreading it with my finger before I’d put glitter on it sort of went a mottled look? What does that mean and how do I fix? I tried a bit of heat gun and it didn’t seem to make a difference.
Do you have a video on sanding steps? I'm new to all this and I'm so confused about the sanding. Btw my name is also Sandie! Spelt different 🙂
I don’t on the sanding steps. But that is a great idea. Thank you 😊
that’s awesome, I’ve never seen it spelt that way!
Do you mix a n b all the time
Where did you get the pumps from??
The pumps were purchased from Alumilite. They work great. 1 pump equals 1 oz. it’s so much easier to measure and mix.
I am using the same resin as in this video. Wondering if you can tell me, if you “work” the resin to long does it change its curing to a hard finish? By working I mean heating it adding alcohol inks and moving the resin with air? Any help is appreciated. I can mix resin for 2 cups work them the same way and still one will cure one will be tacky sometimes. This also occurs if I don’t use the inks sometimes. I have eliminated heating my bottles thinking could be condensation. Also set a timer to be sure it is stirred and mixed well. Scraping the sides etc… I can’t figure out what I’m doing to cause the inconsistently.
I have a question I have done my epoxy right but I have like ripples in the cup when the epoxy hardens ! Do you think it mite be because my cup turner is messed up and it’s not level 🤷♀️?
I know you have answered me on this before lol but how much epoxy do you use for glitter i got the 16oz bottles of epoxy and also on the alcohol ink twirl tumblers how much epoxy should i mix before adding the inks
Will you tell me the measurements for resin
Did you let the epoxy sit before doing method 3 as well?
Thank you
You’re very welcome 🤗
Can I still use the part B that has yellowed slightly?
Great question! Yes! 💖
I was just wondering if you don’t do glitter do you still have to do two layers of Epoxy? Or can you stick with just one layer?
Help! My tumblers are having issues. I have a TON of resistant areas. What am I doing wrong?
Silly question, but how do I add names to the tumbler?
what is different putting in epoxy? is it easier ?sorry i am new
That is a great tutorial!! ^5!
Thank you!
