I love the news correspondence. Adds a fresh twist to the show. Jade and Ken did great!
Dave Ramsey is who every scoundrel becomes after they’ve become filthy rich. You make a boatload of money through immoral and unethical means and then you preach to the rest of the world to be moral and ethical.
Me too , a really good way of getting more people’s stories forward.
Hated it
I agree I loved it
Both do very well impromptu in front of a camera - get them going on other topics, too.
Glad to write that I’m college debt free!
Way to go - good for you!
How much consumer debt?
Kudos to the Ramsey producers, editors, etc for the very well done live feeds from Washington DC. Ken and Jade did great. While I'm sooooo over the student loan dramatics, these segments were very well done and an interesting addition to the show. The group's interview on Fox and Friends last week was also very well done.
Jade had a lot of student loans, but she appears to have made a career now out of having those loans!
@@Trustbutverify2651 curious, is your comment intended to be a slight towards Jade?
@@margie909 Absolutely NOT! She is a great example of turning a negative into a positive because she did the right thing - got organized and PAID THEM OFF without playing the victim as so many others are doing.
The fact that the students don't know the repayments are starting again, shows how out of touch with the money they will owe and their financial futures they will become.
My son moved back in with me when he finished college. He paid minimum rent...basically to cover insurance and cell phone and extra groceries...so nothing over the top. The deal was he had to get those student loans and his car paid off and save up a few thousand in his savings. When covid happened he worked overtime because he was "essential" and shoved all of that into bills. When students loans were frozen he went into overdrive paying them off with zero interest. 2 years later he moved out debt free with at least $10,000 in savings. Why someone wouldnt take advantage of zero interest and throw at least a little towards student loans over 3 years i just cant understand that. 😕
I owed $150,000 In student loans
Had 2 out of 3 kids in college. Covid hit! I started working all those contracts as an RN- paid off all the 150k and put those girls through college student loan free. Praise God for that. I have the lord to thank for providing that blessing even during a very grim time.
God had nothing to do with it!
The book of James states, "Faith without works is dead." You did the work. Perhaps God did the blessing, but He had something to work with...
Amazing job.
Very nice to
See Ken and Jade there they really are Pro’s
There is no need to say "PRE-planned", it's just "planned ". Inherent in the word "planned" is the understanding that it's done ahead of time.
I couldn't agree more. Finally. Someone out there with a lick of sense.
George Collin had a short explanation, citing a few examples. American genie to overuse the word or the should aside the prefix pre.
Preheated oven. Pre planned,
Pre suck dee nuts 😂 for all those who are that ate up woth that PREfix
@TheJ148 the entire point of the word, plan, is already a FUTURE thought process.
No need to add the prefix " pre "
You plan ahead for something you know You will eventually have to deal with in some form or fashion.
That's what they mean by. I have a plan ready.
How do you pre board a plane to get on before you get on?
There are only 2 conditions an oven can be in...., heated, or not heated, preheated as a meaningless term.
@@TheJ148 No wouldnt help anybody because the entire point of the word funeral is dealing with saying Goodbye to someone who has died.
So it is simply funeral planning. Those 2 words are all you need to mean the exact same thing
The tooth infection/kissing analogy was a good one Dr. John but im BLOWN AWAY by the number of adults walking around with bad breath and no teeth breathing in people's faces not bothered and tottaly unaware. How do we deal with that? Most ppl are too nice to address it and offend the person, same way we normalize debt.
Literally the worst thing ever! Especially when you are slowly back away and they keep coming closer. Just in normal conversation.
@@ses-ei7oc yes and that situation u just described is litteraly me every morning at my job.
I’m 25 years old, zero debt, living my best life. I set up a retirement trust fund when I was 17. I’ll be able to access it when I’m 60, and it will be a million dollars. I don’t get how these people can be so irresponsible. Save now people.
Sounds like you had great guidance. Good job but understand not everyone is fortunate enough to have that
Amazing. How were you able to set up all this up at 25 years old?
There are true professionals at the top of their game; I had the pleasure of dealing with one, and it turned out to be really helpful as they assisted me in restructuring my complete portfolio. Becky Lou Gordon, a well-known professional in her field who you may be familiar with, is none other than my advisor.
Thank you so much! Found her webpage and left a message. Hopefully, she responds
lol, you’re full of crap, in each comment youre a different age, person, lol…trying to put out the fake advisor name yet again, at least it wasn’t as obviously fake, at the same time you don’t get the U.S, a magical advisor also won’t change your age and story you give in all your posts! 😂😂😂😂😂
@48:57 Student on bicycle with backpack filled with student loans!😆
Daycare is like a mortgage payment! The diapers & formula are super expensive too.
Daycare! That's what I came here to say! 😂🎉 we were paying almost as much as rent.
Daycare! That's what I came here to say! 😂🎉 we were paying almost as much as rent.
Yes, I was amazed at how unaware these two were on the cost of small babies. I found out the cost of diapers when I went to get a shower gift for a pregnant niece - and the store brand at Sams was over $40 for a box. And don't infants use about 10 a day?! Even car seats are OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive these days, and children's clothing and shoes (if you don't shop at Good will or garage sales) are the same price as for adults. However, an area where parents could save a lot of money is realizing they DON'T need a huge minivan or SUV just because they have a baby. A lot of parents go insane with large car shopping as soon as they find out they are pregnant.
@@Trustbutverify2651 Yess! Agreed!
@@alicarter2515 Exactly! I remember paying $200+ a week for daycare and that was like 6 years ago so I can only imagine how much it’s increased.
I think that the point about college costs being too high is key. Government subsidized loans drove up the prices to an insane number. This must be addressed. I have saved monthly for 17 years (increasing my deposits annually) in a 529 plan and still don't have enough for full tuition at most schools. Colleges and universities must rein in the costs.
💯 agree! Also, loaning out too much money.
Just be careful in which name you are saving that 529. Financial aid, which includes scholarships and grants, not just loans, will take a higher percentage of any savings in a child's name than it will in savings in a parent's or grandparent's name. Anyone planning for their kids' college also needs to pay close attention to what assets are NOT counted for financial aid and what assets are. (Totally legal.) There is a look-back period of 2 years, so the time to plan is in the child's 10th grade year of high school. Montgomery County Public Schools has the best list I know of for figuring out which assets are reportable and which are not. Google Montgomery County Public Schools Student Aid Secrets Minimize the Impact of Assets for their list. Being aware of this information can save you thousands! (And I am not employed by Montgomery County, nor do I have any reason to advertise them - just have helped tons of kids as a teacher to minimize college costs.)
You are correct, but parents will take out private and PLUS loans for their kids if the government puts on limits to federal loans. Not supporting this - just saying that is what will happen, and the parents will bankrupt their own retirements to try and fulfill their kids' dreams. What needs to happen is for more students to ACCEPT the idea that there are other ways to make college much more affordable (besides just looking for scholarships.) The information is out there in droves - but kids want what they want and parents are willing to give it to them, regardless of the cost.
Well, I just finished watching the show. First, I REALLY liked the on-site visit from Jade and Ken. They should do that more often for various problems - interviewing people in the struggle, rather than just waiting for the debt free screams. Lots of topics - visit a car lot on the weekend when the dealership is shut down but folks are walking around thinking about a new car. Interview parents about how they find solutions for the cost of child care. These kinds of ideas. But DR is not correct that they are the only ones talking about it - our newspaper has been featuring articles the past few weeks and the nightly news has also been reminding students. What I think is going to really hit home is that many students started or finished college during this pause and have no idea what they will be faced with now. John was a bit on his moral high horse talking about being responsible when, by his own admission, he was not. Maybe some of those students are just like he was! In addition, many teachers had to pay extra for college as a lot of school divisions were requiring Master's degrees (in worthless education, no less), before they would hire - another qualification that the employer schools did NOT pay for and for which prospective teachers borrowed more money with no visible impact on the classroom from a teacher with just a four-year degree. The problem today, in spite of all the advice on this show to deal with Congress up front, is what is the way to make the process better now when so many millions have already had to pay the full ticket? Do they get reimbursed b/c the colleges ripped them off? This is a real talking and action point for someone running for election as so many families from all political persuasions are now affected. Parents will have to lobby Congress to fix this - and enough parents to result in votes. The only answer is for Congress to put a realistic limit on the borrowing, but as someone with 35 years in education at both the high school and college level, I doubt that would solve anything because PARENTS (as John mentioned) love the bragging rights as much as their kids and parents now are willing to go into deep debt if their kids want something or if they think their kids have a special talent. If Congress did not have the loans, parents would just take out private loans or HELOCs, etc. My hairdresser has spent tens of thousands of dollars on her daughter's travel softball team in high school and, by her own admission, has NOTHING saved for retirement. Now the daughter is off to college and has absolutely no interest in continuing the sport. A lot of money paid just to go and watch you kid play in a different city or state each weekend (motel, meals, gas, and fees.) Kids today are spending their parents' retirement. DON'T LET YOUR KIDS DO IT!
I love the debt free screams! I get so emotional when they finally realize they need to get out of debt then do it.
I’ve got to agree with so many people. The new reporting from the capital is a brilliant idea. I’m from Ireland but never miss your shows. Really enjoyed it 🇮🇪 🇺🇸
continued to pay off the 125k student loan debt throughout the pause and saved 14k in interest! We will be debt free before the end of year! so excited and ready for peace!
The debt free scream stories are great but the actual debt free scream itself brings me chills because I too am debt free and know how good it feels!!!
Love the man on the street segment! Just remember, in the halls of justice, the only justice is in the halls.
Looking forward to Dr. John's book. I preordered, so I'll listen to it via audio. Glad we took care of my student loans years ago. On to 4, 5 & 6! Next step: Paid for house!
WAY TO GO!!!
That is awesome! 🎉
The problem I had with renting the car with a debit card was because I wasn’t returning it to that airport. We were driving and flying out of somewhere else. Enterprise treated my husband and our 2 month old baby like garbage. We had a debit card and enough cash on us to pay for the rental. The manager told us to pound sand. Never using that company again.
Extremely difficult - no matter what these hosts say. Not all of us can say we work for a multi-million dollar company that will stand behind our rental request!
I've rented a car with a debit card before with Budget rental car. They had to do a credit check and put a $500 hold on my card in addition to the cost of the rental car. The hold was refundable after the car was returned. Rented the car in FL and returned it in NC.
I can see this becoming a problem if you have bad credit or no credit at all.
@@yannad5207Did you do it recently b/c policies have really changed in the last year or so. One of things people don't understand about why car rental companies don't use debit is that the money is generally only charged when someone RETURNS the car and they have to have some way to charge any potential damage as well. Unfortunately, not everyone has an extra $500 in their bank account these days as we know - studies show most Americans are unable to handle an unexpected expense larger than $400! Also - you mentioned the credit check. Remember that this crowd recommends having a 0 credit score (which is what will happen if you have no loans or credit cards) and that means there is no way to do a real credit check which also relies on a credit score.
I loved this episode. The news from D.C was awesome. Good job!
Great idea for show, lets keep the new ideas rolling in.
ALL colleges at every level (except the most elite) are struggling for students now, not only b/c more students are opting not to go to college, but because demographics are trending downward. We'll see what that will mean - lots of buildings to heat and AC (when more and more courses are now available online), marketing increase to woo students, potential layoffs for profs or more part-time profs? College will certainly be in flux the next 5 years or so and in 10 years higher ed will look nothing like today. One item to consider: We know that students with science and engineering degrees cost more to educate than students earning degrees in the liberal arts, and their salaries will also be among the highest. So why do all credits cost the same?
I agree cut the loans and prices would go down....
The problem also might be all those remodeling projects going on at universities
No, they wouldn't. Parents would just take out more private and PLUS loans and we would have more bankrupt Senior citizens. Parents cannot say "No" to their kids today.
BTW, Dave, doctors starting out do not make NEAR what they used to - especially if they are setting up a private practice and need to pay staff, benefits for their staff, equipment that constantly needs updating (esp with technology) and MALPRACTICE INSURANCE (which is crazy insane, esp in the major cities where there is lots of crime.) Check out the rates for OB/GYN private practice! Also, the population is rapidly aging and Medicare and Medicare Advantage and Medigap plans do not pay nearly enough to cover the actual costs.
Absolutely love the "on the street" reporting by Jade and Ken in DC! Hearing about the perspectives of students and the Congressman are terrific! Walking a political line, but an important analysis of the issue and potential solutions and challenges. Well done, Ramsey!!
Re: pre-paying funerals. My husband and I were very glad his father pre-paid his plot (but not the funeral) as he spent 1.5 MILLION $ on in-home care the last decade of his life (round-the-clock caregiving, much of it by nurses in the last years) and emptied out all his assets except his home. Could we have paid? Yes, but it was nice to not have to have so many expenses (plot and funeral) while waiting for his house to sell. Of course, not everyone knows where they will be buried as many parents move nearer their children in another state in their final years.
Daycare! That's what I came here to say! 😂🎉 we were paying almost as much as rent.
This Mexican loves this show.. speaks nothing but the truth ❤
Wow… John is a great new addition to the Ramsey Team..
Wish him much success 💥
Thanks for coming to DC Jade and Ken. I live in the DMV and so many of us have overwhelming student loan debt.
At this point, anyone who takes out student loans should be given a complimentary copy of the book "30 Days to Reduce Anxiety" by Harper Daniels because the future anxiety of paying off those things will be intense. It's crazy that colleges are allowed to admit students so easily without ensuring the students are 100% aware of the consequences of student loans.
Reminder that students CHOSE to go to a particular college and CHOSE to take out loans when many less expensive options are and were available and plenty of information about the cost of student loans is also readily available. But kids want what they want and that includes "the college experience," which bears little resemblance to actual education for many of them. The questions they ask on college campuses are What are the dorms like? the food court? the gym? the games? I know - I taught Juniors planning for college for 30 years and trying to reason with them about college costs is like hitting your head against a brick wall.
@@Trustbutverify2651 Which shows they're not receiving proper guidance from adults. I don't think many 17 or 18 year olds are equipped to think of the long term consequences of loans. College admissions departments are typically predatory, targeting teens who don't have much guidance and are not learned on finances. If colleges have oaths and missions and whatever to say they are going to improve the lives of these teens, then they need to ensure these kids know full well the long term consequences. It's not the kids' fault, it's our fault as adults for not giving proper guidance.
NY to TN to DC all in a couple days. Y’all are busy!
I'm tired just thinking about it!
John, you are a natural correspondent! You both did great!
NICE FORMAT TODAY ON THE GROUND REPORTING. SO GOOD
when I was in the 6th grade 1988 ish I rode my bike about 3 miles to go get Jolly Rancher sticks for 10 cents and sold them on the school bus for 25 cents and took kids lunch money. we were poor at the time. I used my skills later in life now Im a multi millionare. Own 10 houses and debt free sorta gotta pay taxes and Ins. Being debt free is so mentally awesome im 47 yr. old now. It took me alot of work. Now I get to do what I want when I want. I have credit cards we have to but havent paid any interest. our house and cars paid for. And we go to discount stores for food and cheap. when I walk somewhere I have sparks coming out of my thighs Im a tight bugger lol. Student loans are supposed to be interest free. I never went to college I stole peoples intellectual property that went to college my brain is a sponge. I ve been listening to Ramsey since I was about 11 yr. old ish my grandpa always listen to Ramsey in the car, and he was millionare also. I still listen to your show still to today I love the stories. Gotta pay $ to play only. If some of the listeners to Dave out there use your brain power to your advantage its all possible we live in America. So heres my Debt free scream wooooooooooooo hooooooooo!
I throw up in my mouth a little bit every time I hear a PhD refer to themselves as a doctor
That's why people should refer to a medical doctor as a physician. No need for the gross mental image, although that's a popular saying these days...
Bit extreme and dramatic
So excited for Delony’s new book to come out! Less than 24 hours away!!!! 🎉❤️
Oh, my gosh, so am I! I'm about to P my pants!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Kinzi sounds like a controlling parent trying to use money to manipulate. There's zero reason to insist they live at home other than to try to keep them under her control.
The actual reasonable thing is to say "we'll cover up to $X (cost of in state tuition) and everything else falls on you"
The hospital,OB,& Pediatric bills were expensive for us, but not the actual care for the child. I had 4 c section,so we had additional cost for anesthesia 😢. I breastfeed all my children and had no food cost until after 1 year🙌🏽.
Thank you for shedding light on this problem
Is it weird Dave wouldn’t discuss the first debt free screams income? I always believed it was a scare tactic to tell employees to not share income information so they can underpay. If no one discusses it, The company is able to pay whatever they want without a challenge
I feel the same way
They totally missed the actual HUGE expense a baby brings.... Childcare. Can be over $1000/month.
Sadly , I have not read a book over 20yrs, and just bought like paycheck to purpose, 2x john books, and like 5 of Ramsay's book. Even the bankruptcy one.. and just today pre-order another book.
Well done Kyle & Jamee debt free 👍
12:50 What's really selfish is that massive companies privitize the gains and socialize the losses through bailouts with my money, your money, Jade's money, and Dave's money. That's what's selfish. Getting an education to better this world is not selfish. Asking for help when you've been helping through taxes for YEARS is not selfish.
Great news corespondent idea from DC, Lord help us wake up to this student death trap before it’s too late!!! 😭
Love the new concept!! Wow!! Great job Team.
Me here paying $2,100 for my kids daycare in the ghetto, while my mortgage is $800
Shout out to Dayton!! Congrats🥳
Babies do not cost that much. Kids don’t have to either. My kids wore all hand me downs when they were little. I stupidly thought I needed all this extra stuff with my first. I spent way too much in gifts, toys and activities when tv woods were young. I could have saved so much. Now that they are older I think it’s more important for them to be in activities. I had them in like 3 activities a week when they were like 3-6 years old. With my youngest he just started one activity. He is fine. He is not missing out. He is happy. Kids just want your time and attention. Daycare is expensive but if you would be making more than if you stayed at home it’s worth it. That’s the only thing it’s hard sometimes to find good quality child care that is affordable.
Wouldn't it be nice if the Federal Government actually gave grants to high schools to teach money management and how to go to college without debt, perhaps pay for students to take FPU before they graduate high school so more young people are made aware of the possibilities for higher education without ending up in debt the rest of their lives? I at least learned how to write checks and balance a check book in high school. ATM cards were not really a thing at the time so I wasn't familiar with how that whole balance thing worked. Got in trouble a few times with overdraft fees because I just didn't know. Back then, it took days for a transaction to hit the account unlike today where it's pending in your account before you leave the store. I would love to see high school kids get taught real life essentials so they are better equipped to be responsible adults and are aware that they don't have to borrow for college. Shame on parents, government, school, and colleges for not doing more to prepare young folks, who I might add, have no real financial experience, to get a good education and be able to enjoy the career they choose without fear of being homeless.
Hey, doctor deloney, your little example of a Porsche dealership has one different variable. The Porsche dealership won't be able to finance a 16, 17 or 18 year old, Who doesn't have any income, school loans are government-backed, which basically a blank check..
Let's knock down the national debt and stop paying to subsidize Big Oil !
MY KIDS AS BABIES COST US VERY LITTLE. WE GOT HAND ME DOWNS FROM FAMILY AND FRIENDS MANY NEW ITEMS NEVER USED.
Apparently that was a while back. And not everyone has family nearby or friends with the right ages and genders to pass down clothes. 45% of the millennials and Gen Z are planning NOT to have kids.
Me too. I used cloth diapers, too.
the guy that said we are suckers for watching this rich guy talking....dude...you are the sucker, not us who follow the rules and do what he did to be rich. duh

Love Jade & Ken doing this in DC! Great Job!
The addition of the media segments is a horrible idea.
Enterprise, National & Alamo all except debit cards… I haven’t had any trouble ever!
Stay away from Budget!!!
Today I'm really lamenting the fact that I only started this at 55.
I googled Dave up to see how he looked when he was young. BIG no, he was not good looking at all! But now, man, along there with anthony hopkins and such, nice transformation
Dave was NEVER young.
He gets better with age!
Yep it’s a racket!
Rental cars, never had an issue. Budget, thrifty, all of em...never an issue with a debit
Dollar wasn't difficult for us just a heads up...again, never an issue
FINALLY admitting it is very difficult to rent a car w/o a credit card. Note to DR - we don't all have corporate accounts!
Why would anyone WANT to rent a car? That's asinine.
Why can't you use a debit credit card to rent a car?
@@judyking4597just a guess but I think it’s because most people with credit cards have more available credit than they do actual cash in the bank. Easier for the rental company to collect a higher amount if you put a dent in the car.
@@judyking4597 Because by the time you return the car you can have emptied out your bank account and not be able to pay the car company. What you CAN do is reserve with a credit car and on turn in, pay with a debit card in which case no charge will post to your credit card.
@@amireallythatgrumpy6508 Lots of reasons. Apparently you don't travel much. We take vacations all across the country and are certainly not going to take a 16+ hour drive on each end just to get there. We fly and we need transportation once we arrive. Some people have used cars with high mileage - like my Honda with 260,000+ miles on it. Fine for driving around town where I'm close to home if it decides today is its last day. But I wouldn't use it to drive 6-8 hours away from home due to its age, so I rent in those instances. Your remark is pretty much asinine.
I paid my first payment a little over a week ago. It’s $153.44 per month. Only 19 years and 10 months to go. I will be 76.
Pay more then the minimum and you won’t. 😊
I advise you to pay off as soon as possible because if you reach social security age (providing there is any social security left) and hit hard times and can't pay your loan, your social security check will be garnished to pay your student loans. Student loans cannot be discharged, not even in bankruptcy.
At the very least, pay as much as it takes to keep additional interest from accumulating, you can calculate it on the site, you can also target certain loans out of the whole that have the highest interest rates, and pay those off first. You will NEVER regret doing everything that you can now, where there’s a will, there’s a way to get it done, at least meet with some people and take an honest look at where your money is going to day in and day out.
man, 20x 1 million people buying....minus taxes, you are still rich. BAM
Are prepaid credit cards bad too?
According to Ramsey. Their belief is you spend/buy more on any kind of credit card than if you paid cash.
@@bettedavis9261 Maybe true for him, but not for me b/c I use my credit card LIKE a debit as I pay and deduct immediately from my running budget as soon as it posts. And I almost never use actual paper or coin cash because the bills are so NASTY now - filthy. And all kinds of studies have shown that virtually all paper money carries traces of drugs these days.
How do babies not make a dent? If you have to buy formula, diapers, pay for daycare after 2-3 months at home with minimal income? He sounds very out of touch with reality there
How to be free of student loans. 1. Don’t take out any ; )

You’ve got a credit problem but beyond that how does this fly in a depression
I don’t use credit at all and now I’m hearing I’m dumb for it though
The amount of self promoting through fake comment conversations in all of Ramsey’s videos is astonishing…
The budget is busted by a newborn if and only if your paying for daycare because you have to go to work.
freakin people judging the looks, shut up, sit down, get lost
Babies... I took one look at the expense of formula and stuff and that was more than enough to make the decision to breastfeed.
