Why does the recently divorced woman not have a job - she's a homeschool Mom. Why does she say she can't change her kids' schooling - she CAN change the kids' schooling. That's nonsense. She can enroll them in public school at any time. She is being very foolish continuing to rack up debt just so she can homeschool her kids. She is a prime example of women who do not prepare for their lives because no one knows what life can bring. EVERY woman should be sure she has an earned skill - college or not - to be able to support herself and her kids if she has to. Playing the victim is NOT o.k.

By her own admission she had "no education" and no skills to get a job and was depending on child support. Every woman needs to be able to support herself if she needs to. The decision may be for her to stay home with the children, but she should be able to make it financially if she has to, which is the case with this story.

For the first caller, money shouldn't be a stressful topic for kids. It also shouldn't be a stressful topic for adults either. The only stress is either when you have debt or when you don't have enough money for when things get bad. Otherwise if you are doing what they suggest by having a four to six months emergency fund then money stress evaporates, and the question of how to talk to your kids about money becomes trivially easy because you don't associate stress with money anymore, unless you own a business of course.

Do NOT move in as a very young family with two young children with either of your parents. You are still building your marriage and your relationships with your kids. When kids are in the same home with grand-parents, there are four authority figures telling the two kids what to do. and the parents and grand-parents will not always agree. Parents today do not raise their kids the way the last generation did - the challenges are different. This is very different from kids visiting the grandparents when they understand that there can be different rules in different homes. Also, all couples need to have some "hard conversations," (otherwise known as fights - LOL) and it's difficult to have those with other relatives in the house, especially if they weigh in. You will move on, but the family members in the house will remember. They will also be watching how you spend money, how you use your time, whether or not you go to church - any number of things - they can't help but do it if you are living in the same house. Also, what if something comes up and you want to move? Even to another area? Just having combined incomes for a larger house is NOT a reason. It can be very different if your children are raised and your marriage is long-standing. But the Bible says to "leave and cleave" for a reason! The ideal, since the parents may be facing some health issues, is for them to move into a house or condo or a townhouse (with a moveable chair up the steps) where they can age in place with perhaps increasingly limited income, as they may have more medical bills. Another option would be a duplex where each family would still have their own space.

Jonathan do not do this! My brother did the same thing with his in-laws. They bought a huge house and it turned into a disaster. They thought it was going to be great. They could help with the parents as they age, they would have in-house daycare….. no no, no! Your life will no longer be your own. Your life will become all about the aging parents, and your poor children are going to get lost in the shuffle, and their childhood will be forever altered as well as your marriage. I think as time goes on It will put a strain on your marriage….. coming as an observer from a situation like this that again involved my brother, don’t do it! Please, you’re so young….. don’t do it! If you and your wife were in your late 40s and your kids were grown adults, we would be having a different conversation possibly but right now where you are please don’t do it! There are other ways you can help and be supportive as these parents age. If they can’t manage the house any longer, they need to sell their home and move into a rental, a rental where maybe groundskeeping is included in the fee. And as Rachel says, we haven’t even touched on the fact that your parents are aging and could have possible health problems and then what happens to your kids ….again their childhood or adolescent -hood becomes all about that situation. Please think it through - please.

Give, Save, Spend - do it EARLY with TOYS! In America, we are inundated by STUFF. Nothing better than a "manipulative" to teach math, in a toy. It's a great perspective to start to understand money: how to let go of a toy when you're done with it, for others to play with it, to sell it, to give it. Then they can save for or sell for other toys. Of course in our house they have gotten everything, all the toys, from all the relatives. Implementing this early is so important. Make sure chores are consistent, and pay them. They will be so full of esteem to make their own money. You'll see early on their propensity for spending or saving.
Lemonade stands and cookie stands are awesome too. Supplies payment, revenue, profit, they really will catch the bug for agency for their own money!

@@strqueen123 I didn’t say debt settlement, I said debt collection. They buy defaulted loans for less than face value then collect from the borrower. The only difference between Yrefy and others is that they get the borrower to sign a promissory note (they call it a refinance agreement) before they buy the debt from the original lender.

WHY IS THE RAMSEY SHOW PROMOTING PAGEN RELIGIONS WITH THE HALLOW APP? IS HALLOW SHORT FOR HALLOWEEN?
I UNDERSTAND CATHOLISISM HAS NO ISSUE WITH PAGENISM BUT NO REAL CHRISTIAN WOULD BE PROMOTING IDOLATRY. I PRAY THE RAMSEY SHOW WILL REPENT FOR PROMOTING IDOLATRY

Enough already - you say this same thing every day. Field bulletin: Hallow is NOT short for Hallowe'en and there will be Catholics in heaven, so you need to get used to living with them now. Please stop posting this same exact idea every day - you are not contributing anything new. Stick to the issues from the callers and the advice given.
