This lady talking about Mae West negatively is hilarious Mae West creates what it meant to be a female sensation and was the highest paid woman in the golden age of holllywood
Mae West was a WOMAN who was very ahead for her time. She wrote most of her lines herself and was a gifted comedian. She was for woman's lib before people gave it a name.Raquel Welsh seems to tell the same story over and over again like she had some insight into this legend. Mae was famous for being brilliant, Welsh was famous for running around in a loin cloth with fake silicone breasts. I've always thought that Welsh was a beautiful woman, but all this demonstrates is this she seems to have little class. I hope that when she is old someone doesn't pick up one of her finger nails and then tell the same story over and over again.
There's a biography of West that makes an extremely good case that Mae was, if not a man, then not quite a women - perhaps a hermaphrodite, or what might today be termed "intersex". It's a not especially unusual occurrence, with a percentage of babies of indeterminate sex at birth. These days they're often corrected surgically, but in Mae's day if a baby was not quite one thing or the other they just picked a sex and went with it. A great deal in Mae's life supports the theory, including that, for all the talk of sex and her career as a sex siren, there is zero evidence that she actually had sex with anyone. And that, in Hollywood, is extraordinary.
I believe that Mae West was in her 80s when they 'worked' together. No one said that Raquel Welsh is not still beautiful. She has aged well and obviously works hard on her body. I just think it is unkind of her to make fun of a legend in a way that is supposed to come off like she is not being bitchy when she really is. I think she needs some new material to talk about during her interviews.

Evelyn Velasquez to be fair I don't think it's catty necessarily, just being Raquel, after all it is diva on diva!
MAE WEST WAS RULING!!!!!!!!!, interesting at 78 Raquel is now Mae's age when she starred in Myra it was a different time mindset and era, However Mae had a chrisma and an enigma that Raquel as glorious as she is, could never top.R.I.P the Great and astonishing Mae West.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raquel_Welch
Lana so TRUE ! RESPECT ! Ruling Mae was, others simply could not " measure " up !
Lana so true
mae was right, no real woman, 'should' have played this part! the movie was doomed when they did not cast transwoman and warhol 'super-star' candy darling in the part! candy was beyond perfect for it, indeed destined for it. although she campaigned for the role, she was tragically passed over. (i will never forgive raquel for stealing the part, and i would say that of any woman who took it.)
Mae was a slutty man who didn't give pieces of crap for anyone else around her. He/she actually disgust me. Someone else needed to play that part.
Raquel Welch sure changed her story about her meeting with Mae West multiple times! Now why is that???
Mae West was phenomenal clever funny and really shrewd in business.. her one liners were ace .., she gave Cary Grant his break.. Raquel sadly not so much
What do you mean ? Raquel has given many breaks, as in "breaking balls" ... Oh the shade of it all ...
Mae West was the most funny original ever...and had more real sides in her persona than you will ever have Mrs Welch!
I love them both!!😚😚💖💖 But Miss West😘🙏💖💖 She was and still is in my heart the Woman of all women Smart, Beautiful and classic!! RIP the True blond boom lady😚
Mae will always be a legend to remember! More than Raquel
Mae was just delicious gorgeous and fabulous even as a more mature woman she still had it and rocked the living daylights out of it
I respect ms. Welch for her popularity.
But I loved Mae West for her TALENT!!!
Ms. Welch’s remarks make her out to look needy and insecure. Always needing the spotlight to be on her.
But ms. West said it best
“It’s better to be looked over
Than overlooked “
I love mae west to .no doubt a cat fight both beautiful woman. With comments about mae west makes raquel welch look like a tom cat and mae higher up. No need just be understanding of mae. She is an aggresive personality and respect her .getting older and trying to keep up on your beauty isnt easy. But shes doing it well. Let her have the spot light one day raquel will also face this delima. Im sure shes just a little cocky lol. Mae still has it.
@@annetteyoung1131 Raquel "is facing the dilemma" now ... Raquel is 80yo in 2020 ... Wonder what her perspective is now ... M e o w ... some shade, just not full on ...
Seems Miss.Welch did not get along with Dyan Cannon on the set of the 1973 film: The Last of Sheila and with Jim Brown on the set of: 100 Rifles. I wonder if Miss Welch and Faye Dunaway got along on the set of: The 3 Musketeers, and also The 4 Musketeers.
raquel wishes she had half the presence of mae.
@Mesalonika one poster in a pile of millions be real
@@dabdella1460 LMAO

Oh please, Raquel is a legend in her own right.
Mae West said "Is that a gun in your pants or are you just glad to see me" Back in a time when a woman could not talk like that on film.
I say that to my hubby all the time!!!I learned of Mae as a kid watching old cartoons,I will never forget that line -Why dontcha come up and see me sometime
It takes great discipline to really LIVE IN THE WORLD. Both Mae and Raquel have proved it.
Meow to all the catty comments going back forth ...saucer of milk anyone ? I think they are both FABULOUS . The End .
BRAVO !!!
They're fabulous in their own right/s. I will agree. But personally, Mae West is the "Victor".
He said saucers of milk anyone
Mae will allways be. Number one
Did you all notice brief shots of Farrah Fawcett and Tom Selleck?
Was I the only one to replay Raquels impersonation of Mae over and over again???? I loved it haha
Raquel at the end?? Very bitter. I notice Raquels story on Mae became even more Spicy as she 'Raquel' became older herself. Not cool.. Raquel told her story on meeting Mae 3 different times, 3 different ways. Hmm...👀
What IS THIS RAQUEL/RACHEL KNOWN FOR ANYTHING? NAME 10 THINGS I'M JUST CURIOUS? HAS SHE BEEN BLACKBALLED IN SHOW BUSINESS??? OR WHAT??
Rachel can't. Get a job & if STRUGGLING TO IMPERSONATE MAE WEST IS ANY INDICATION I NOW KNOW WHY...... TRULY, NO TALENT, SORRY BUT TRUE. I'M SO EMBARRASSED FOR HER.
@Flenif2247 I remember when she was fired from a play. Here's a quote from Wikipedia, "She was due to star in a 1982 adaptation of John Steinbeck's Cannery Row, but was abruptly fired by the producers after a few weeks into production. The studio claimed she was not living up to her contract, by refusing early-morning rehearsals, and was replaced with Debra Winger. Welch sued MGM for breach of contract."
Exactly! There’s no need to embellish a story when it’s about Mae West.
I love Mae!!!
Raquel never had that much of a career. She's known for her beauty, obviously not her talent. She should feel honored to appear in a movie with Mae. Jealously is so unflattering.
The movie would never had been made without Raquel. She was the #1 box office draw at the time, not West. RW has been in show business since the 60's, done Broadway and starred in more moves than West.
@@gsjarvis6669 but whose name is still remembered most: Mae West. Not only due to her talent, but the fact that she was an innovator and a trailblazer and challenged the social norms of the day
@@darreylhenderson702 "Whose name is remembered most"? I supposed that depends on who you ask. I guess you have taken a poll on that very question.
Mae West was fabulous, and such an icon💋
Mae West just had it all she was so funny and she never lost her beauty or her class
Mae West is a legend...Everyone knows her name😘
Mae West is beyond a diva. Mae West is a Goddess.
She is a fuckin man
Couldn't agree more .
.you hit the nail ....right square on the head
🥀 Both Women are amazing, and very different from one another. When "Myra Breckenridge" came out (1970,) Mae was 76. Raquel was about 29. Two Sex Symbols from (2) very different Hollywood eras who didn't like each other ? Hmm🤔, no Psychology degree needed to figure that one out❗(San Francisco)
Mae didn't do her scenes until after 5 because she didn't go to sleep until 5 am. She needed as much sleep as she could get in order to look her absolute best.
Thanks for the video and for the comments. Some of them are hilarious
Upon Mae's death, the coroner released a statement that, because of the persistent rumors about being a man, Mae West indeed was all female most definitely. I remember that news being reported on the news back then. Ha. And she was the bomb.
@Hugh Haefner I agree with you. Still even today they are not satisfied all those people refuse to believe what the Coroner said about Mae West. Those people are a Bunch of *DIMWITS* The coroner said that Mae West was a woman. He did the autopsy, and he sure examined her entire body. He was I think the first person that actually saw Mae West dead body. Nobody else saw Mae West dead body. That's the way rumors start, and those rumors spread from people to people, is like a contagious disease.
@Flenif2247 LMAO😂👏👏👏👏👍👍👌
@AtomicPickle1 Hmmm, who is the real "dick" here ... As to Mae West, dick or no dick, drag queen or stage queen, Mae West legacy will live on FOREVER !
Raquel is Stunning!!!!!
Love Mae West. A one off.
Imagine being a sex symbol, not acting for 27 years, getting a movie role in your 80's and starring with an extremely sexy person, of course you're going to be a bit catty. Raquel took it personally. It was a compliment, girl. It was a compliment.
Mae is and was a genius and true original.
Miss Welch is an ok actress and beautiful - but so were 1000's of others.
I do not mean to say she isn't worthy of recognition - but Mae is the Oscar and Miss Welch is a Day Time Emmy Award.
Both popular - but one means so much more
"Let's talk about the '7 inches"! LOL!😃
We understand why Mae West was famous....she was awesome! But I'm not exactly sure why Raquel Welch is famous.
SHE ISNT
BE REAL...NOBODY NOW DAYS KNOW WHO IS MAE WEST...!!....EVERYBODY WHO WAS 15..OH 20...OH 30 YEARS OLD ..IN THE 60'S..AND ..70'S...KNOW WHO IS RAQUEL WELCH ..!!...RAQUEL WAS No1..SEX SIMBOL IN THAT YEARS ..IN THE 80'S HER IMAGEN WAS STILL IN THE COVER OF ALL MAGAZINES BESIDES FARRAH FAWSSET...BO DEREK..KING BASSINGER...VALERY PERRINE..ETC ETC...!!!

Give a listen to Mae West singing "Light My Fire" it is awesome!
I think someone is a tad jealous. I highly doubt she would be talking about Mae West like that if she was alive, it's not the first time she's been disrepectful in talking about Mae West. It's not a good look for her.
For me, the greatest indication of character is how they treat their own families. May West took good care of her parents, siblings and other relatives and friends.
It's now 2019 and Raquel just gets needier with each interview she does,,,, "" I don't mean to be cruel"",,,,,, I don't mean to be unkind"",,,, of course you do Raquel,,,,, you're just digging yourself deeper into obscurity , you're not a LEGEND,,,,,, Mae West is,,,,,,,,,, ,🇫🇷💋
Farrah Fawcett called out Raquel on the Howard Stern Show. If anyone was insecure it was Raquel. Farrah said Raquel would try to make her nervous and self-conscious with things like "when the camera is up close, you have beautiful teeth, too bad about the one tooth that is a few shades darker than the others."
IT WAS INTENTIONAL, CALLING MAE A MAN.
MAE IS MORE WOMAN THAN SHE IS & MORE MAN THAN SHE'LL EVER GET.
TRIFLING BITTY..
The difference between Raquel Welch and Mae West is that Mae West never felt it necessary to reduce herself by openly insulting anyone. Mae West had a quick mind to go with HER body. Unlike Raquel Welch, there are and have been famous INTELLIGENT WOMEN in this world who are/were aesthetically pleasing. The body may attract, a kind, witty, mind keeps the engagement.
@@judyweeks1480 well she did when speak like that to miss Welch . What you saying is like that someone do harassment to another person and the victim came and speak out loud the truth bout this bad experience he had about this and u blame the victim about speaking the truth ! Beauty: Raquel. Controversy: Mae
Tom Selleck was in this too.
Both were amazingly gifted ladies in their loveliness.
I think Mae West would have appreciated Judge Judy' comment..."beauty fades dumb is forever"...men and women love humour/wit and Mae had it in Diamonds!
@tin pan alley 1619 Broadway With that being said " You can go f*** yourself" ... Just some shade, not bitterness ... Banter & humor are one thing, unsubstantiated opinions - not facts - a different "ball" game ...
I like them both. Clearly Mae didn’t want the comparison between she and Raq. I’m curious as to what Mae thought of her. The irony here is that Raq has maybe THE worse rep in the business so she shouldn’t be casting stones.
Stevebaby123 she does?! I’ve never heard that about Raquel before! Do tell!
WHAT MAE THOUGHT ABT HER WASN'T MUCH.
TO RAQUEL, "AND WHAT 'WAS' YOUR NAME AGAIN ?" 😏
My goodness, Raquel is so beautiful!
Mnd you Raquel is wearing a wig with fake eye lashes when giving the interview! Hahaahaahah!
I respect Raquel Welch but Mae West has me in stitches
When I was a boy in the 60s I thought the 2 most beautiful women in the world were Raquel and Nichelle Nichols...and I still do!

Mae West was a true female bad ass. Only a few famous females have earned that title. Among them are Mae West, Madonna, Bette Davis, Cardi B and Lucille Ball. These are women known for not being afraid to say what is on their mind with true courage whether others like it or not. Real bosses.

You’re absolutely right! ❤
3:23: great shot of Mae!
Raquel Welch is as big as a temperamental diva as Faye Dunaway. She should have kept her mouth shut and bowed down to the one and only Mae West, who was an iconic trailblazer, paving the way for so many Hollywood stars after her.
MAE IS LIFE!!!
Wow! Raquel Welch was and is a gorgeous woman. Very Sophia Loren type. They sure don't make them like this anymore; classy, well built (real) and well spoken.
The beauty Miss Raquel Welch she is 77 years of age and she is still gorgeous.
Ra
What biography are you talking about?????
she sound so bitter and jealous of Mae that its hard to listen too..never was a RW fan anyway..Mae West earn her way in hollywood and she deserves some respect..
mae west ....WAS A REAL TALENT....she wrote shows..movies...performed...was a movie star...etc etc....
welch?...had no talent what so ever.....except that she was very attractive.......here she shows off her real SELF...JEALOUSY
Holy shit, young Tom Selleck!!!
Raquel welsh just gave two different stories about when she met Mae West wth? 2:10 and 4:45 just sounds to me like she just didn't like Mae.
Mae West was right not to like Raquel Welch.., she just insults her legend ....
Mae West created and lived her own persona.
Raquel looks a bit like Sophia Loren
Right! Except Loren is ten times rhe actress
Sophia far more of a natural beautiful when both at their same ages.
She keeps saying “hair like Brigette Bardot” - seemingly deeming Mae somewhat of a copycat. The truth is Mae was around before Brigette and rocking her elaborate wigs and hairdos long before her.
Did anybody notice the young Tom Selleck at 2:56
@Tom Quimby I sure did. Tom Selleck was only 22years old when this scene was filmed. I guess that this was his first cameo appearance.
I still get a kick out of this movie. It had one heck of a cast- Tom Selleck, Farrah Fawcett, Timothy Dalton, John Houston, Rex Reed, Roger Herren, etc.
Mae West is a beautiful, sexy, elegant and a True Legend!
Welch was a looker. West was a looker with brains.
