- The middle child in the X family gets all the attention. Typical.
The X family of pedals harnesses the power of Parallel Processing to keep the low end of your bass signal clean, while applying the drive only to the higher frequencies, so your bass has all the dirt you need while letting your fundamental stay punchy and clear.

FINALLY! A Darkglass demo showing tones i can actually use on a gig! Nice job👍
It’s cool to see how you use the X series for sounds that are far from the typical metal demos coming from Darkglass. It helps a lot to understand how to use them in other contexts. The X are not very intuitive to use but your videos are very concisely explained and easy to follow and understand. Well done! 🙂👍🏽
Thanks! I’ll agree with that-this one takes a bit of study and experimentation to get at what makes it so unique, but once you “get it” I think there’s nothing like it. Glad it’s helpful!
@@AmosHeller In these pedal reviews what settings do you use on your basses?
Most instructive video explaining what this pedal really does. All the dark glass series is excellent. Thanks
Hey Amos - love your demos, so well done. Quick question. I know the LPF and HPF knob setting can depend on many things in your chain (bass, cab, room, etc), but when you're using the X7 in these demos into an interface or cab sim like the element and getting your cleaner or slightly gritty tones do you have any basic settings you use with them? Thanks!
My favorite was with the filters at maximum. That way there’s a nice swath in the low mids getting drive and compression
@@AmosHeller Thanks!
I'm a little confused on the parallel out and the DI. Why does this line of pedals have both, but the Ultras do not have the parallel?
Good question, and I’m sorry to say I don’t have the answer. Seems like a pretty useful feature…
@@AmosHeller yea, it's definitely the biggest hurdle right now. More eq bands or parallel out...
Interesting trade off
Could you use this pedal and stack with DG Vintage Ultra V2? Or is it to much of the same?
