Good luck, I just turned fifteen, I don’t got a guitar or a musical talent or anything like that. But I love country music and want a hobby, so I think I’m going to try to write country songs

Last night 10/28/2020 I watched Luke Combs for his album release party here and he said he thinks of songs as a puzzle, but the pieces have to be created by the songwriter as does the full picture. So I took away that to mean the completed puzzle is is that the song looks like and the pieces of the puzzle are the subjects of the song be they are people, things or an experience and when the pieces are put together you have a finished song for the most part. Then you may need to tweak the pieces to fit together better. Damn, that seems simple.

The best songs tell a story. The sadder or more hopeless the better as long as there is redemption at the end
Hey, I'm Hutson. I'm happy everyone's here . I'm new to the group and would like to qualify by saying , I shoot for five starts per day. I hope I'm in the right place to share ideas and get some helpful suggestion.
I have a verse and chorus that are great as independent parts. Contemporary, great melody and flow all good.
the verse/ chorus have two very different sentiments within their lyrics.
Once I put them together, the result is mind-blowingly bad. As two separate entities, I absolutely love these parts.
I felt I was on a path to an exceptional contemporary country song.
I went at those parts with hammer, and chisel. I would create or recreate the verse narrative. I would then move to the chorus and do the same . I would finish with the chorus. Look back at the verse realizing I was completely off point. I guess I was getting happy and the word salad and losing the game altogether. I was left chasing my tail for 8 hours. Maybe I'm wrong but it seems, I don't know how to walk away from a bad day?
Solution?
Maybe a clear outline, prior to getting in deep would have resulted in a great song?
My brain says, writing an outline will kill any spontaneous magic. I would be left with music without a soul. My brain is probably saying this because I don't know how to write a proper outline.

I have stories to make into songs. I just want too tell the story and find someone to put music too it. I have lived 64 years and this has been my dream. I can sing a song and make it up out of the blue. I was asked who wrote that? I did. I can't explain it. It just happens a lot.

No just write a song about beer instead of old gunfights and cowboys
Or, better yet, write a song with the title/hook "Cowboys Drinkin' Beer."
