Thanks for covering this one Chris. I was looking for budget UL combos for my parents because when we take them out to freshwaster, all they have are their MH saltwater rods so they can't really enjoy the panfishing.

I agree south bend is trash, Trilene and SOS are my go to. This rod paired with the ix1000r reel for $20. I have plenty of ultra lights but I like the way this one bends.

I have the same reel but in the 2500 size and paired it with the Shakespeare micro series 7' light rod it's my favorite light setup for panfish even caught bass and catfish on it and it handles them perfectly great video 👍

I have the shimano fx 2500 on a st croix mojo bass spinner rod….extremely smooth… just ordered the fx 1000 for my st croix panfish rod…
They are solid reels for the price point

i like the fx 1000 reels i got one iv seen the rod combos i think the rods are a bite to flimsy for me its why i only bought the reel and stuck in on a lite Shakespeare micro series rod 5 foot 6 one paired with that rod i get great action and feel the bite better love the fx reels but there rods to me don't do it for me great video
Yeah the rods that come with these reels are garbage. They make a cracking sound just while casting.

I like that reel I have a 2500 HG on a bass pole it fishes better than a $20 reel. I have never tried that rod but that thing looks way too whippy. Thanks, you probably saved me $30 at some point 😂
It’d make a good bait rod. I’ve got a few of the 4000 size of these on lighter catfish setups and they ain’t bad.
@@FishingWithChris_Tv I have the 2500HG FX on a 6’6” H20X Legacy rod. I used it as my bass rod for over a year. Nice budget Bass set up I had $45 I think wrapped up in the combo. I upgraded to a 2500 Sedona on a 6’6” Daiwa Arid X this summer. The FX/Legacy set up is still going strong though it’s my backup or the combo I give my kid when he wants a good bass set up for creek bass fishing.
