    Metering the IR coming thru the windshield was the most convincing though the temp gun readings were an interesting observation. We just recently had ceramic tints added to our SUV front doors and windshield (35% sides / 70% front) On a bright sunny day the reduced IR on your skin is noticeable. No doubt less air conditioning is required now. Great video!

    I recently had 3M Crystalline put in my New Mazda CX5. Before installation I was burning hot from waist up . AC constantly on .. NOW with 3M installed, I’m finding I have to constantly turn down the AC fan, as it gets real cold quickly. So not running AC nearly as much while driving. Great investment ESPECIALLY HERE IN FLORIDA ! Great video. Wherever you are I 100% recommend Ceramic Tint !!!

    Greetings from Torrance, CA! Fantastic video. We literally just got 70 percent Crystalline on all windows of our 2019 Camry. I was worried that 70 was going to be too light and not be able to lower the overall temp of the car, but you showed with actual readings that it makes a huge difference as well as knocking down the harmful UV rays. We just had a heat wave thru out So Cal a few weeks ago and I wished we had it back then. This was a very informative video and BTW, 70 looks fantastic on our car. When you do one level of tint, the car looks very uniform. Thanks for all or your hard work!

    Algorithm suggested me your video since I’ve been looking for this kind of data on tints. Great video! In my case I’m in Mexico so I can’t say I’ll visit your shop anytime soon, but living in the desert finding out about ceramic tints has been a revelation. Our family’s 2 cars have it installed all around (3m crystalline as I never got the attention of the shop that sells Xpel here) and like you mention in your drive, a car with this caliber of tints cools much quicker and they mute the heat and UV so well, I find that opening the 4 windows for some 30 seconds while the car starts to move clears that hot air out and lets the ac work even faster. Also with leather/fake leather seats this is the only way to make them ok to sit on after being left in the sun for a bit. Subscribed and looking forward to see what else you guys upload.

    This was a great breakdown of the differences between the 2. In NYC i just got XR plus all around and had the same misconception of getting in the car and expecting it to feel cool after sitting in the sun.
    But like you said it acts like a heat sync so when i drove out in 85 degrees i had the A/C on the lowest setting and couldn't feel the sun at all. 🙏🏿

    • @BlackoutTinting
      @BlackoutTinting  Год назад

      Thanks for watching, we have to explain that to homeowners as well. We install a great film for helping reduce heat coming from their windows and they think the A/C won't need to be used. It helps a hot room stay cooler and helps the A/C keep up.

    • @sparrowhawk5673

      @@BlackoutTintingi had the same misconception. I thought I wouldn't feel heat rays on my face as strong as when non tinted or at all.
      Last car had unknown tint and i wouldnt feel my cheek heating sting. I barely got the XR plus yesterday and only drove it home to rest for the next day or two. Even on a cloudy cool day surprised started to feel it depending on the direction the sun was.
      Hoping it gets better after time of restinf.

  • @mikep490
    @mikep490 4 месяца назад

    I think it could be blocking if UV and IR that makes it feel a bit cooler, too. Think what it's like in a 50 degree garage and you turn on your IR heater or build a fire. If you stand in front of it, you feel warm. Now repeat when it's 75 in the shop and it feels uncomfortably warm. If you block that intrusion with tint you less of that "feels warm/hot" sensation. Anyone who's been out on a sunny day has felt the same. It can be 50 outside and get on the South side of the house, out of the wind, and it's now too warm for the jacket you needed earlier.

    I love the idea of the ceramic tint but I plan on coupling that with an roof basket and some coroboard attached to the bottom of the basket so "No" sun on the roof. ALSO, I have window louvers installed and an solar powered fan in the window behind the driver to pull the heat out of the vehicle but that will require no tint on the rear window for the solar panel. Should keep the interior close to ambient.

    Your experiment is fundamentally skewed using a IR Temp gun holding it so far away the way you were doing for your checks. Some u looked close enough to your spots like the dash, Because unless DARPA has something they're not releasing, theirs no such thing as a 'Laser Temperature Gauge' that laser is only to give the operator an indication of the general area its reading the amount of infra red radiation emiting from. And imo always just been a gimmick to get customers exited about buying one knowing they're assuming the laser is somehow integral to the function of the tool, they're meant for industrial/mechanical applications where wide swaths of temperature variation is important for diagnosis of mechanical components, Maybe if you could get right up on your test objects & keep the same distance an IR Temp gun could possibly be better than nothing, but a much better device would be something you could just place where the human would sit which measures the ambient temperature in the cabin..
