I am a professional window film installer for the last 40 years. The number one pick is one of the worst films on the market. The first film that you showed which was in the third spot cannot be used on double pane without shattering the window. I suggest anyone who looks at this video to seek out a professional who knows window film
I want heat reduction and privacy. If I understood you correctly, Kaspen is the only one that will reflect in the evening/night, providing night time privacy? All the other films won't. Correct? Thank you for the video and info.
No tint will reflect from the outside if the inside is brighter than the outside. You’d need some kind of frosting/dusted if u want it that private. Won’t be able to see out though.
I installed the gila tint product and one of my window panes has been compromised and moisture has got inside. I noticed the windows are extremely hot when the sun hits them in the late afternoon, I wonder if this damaged my window seals
I don't have any tint films on my dual pane windows, but moisture gets inside between the two panes, which I think is caused by the direct sun's rays that heat up the window...so it may just be that outdoor temperatures are hotter these days.
Unless you cut the seal with the razor when fitting i don’t see how these would damage it. My guess would be since the tint reflects the heat it’s “trapping” that heat back out the exterior side of the window causing it to heat up more vs it would go all the way through the glass into the house before 🤷🏽♂️
KESPEN heat control is 91%, Buydecorativefilm heat control is 55% , Gila heat control is 71%. Don't you pick the one with the higher number which is Kespen? Why would any one pick Gila 2nd place?
I don't know if anyone is understanding those numbers correctly - Kespen reflects 91% of heat through your windows, there is generally another rating for heat control which is up to xx% - generally *up to* 30-50% but this varies a LOT depending on your home! If you live in a second-story apartment like I do, you will never see these numbers because you're getting heat from the hot roof and rising heat from the person below you. Now, on the other hand, if you live in a glass house and cover every window, you'll most likely see a substantially bigger difference. Regardless, these products help reflect heat away from your windows which can make a huge difference for just about anyone with windows in their home. I really wish someone actually lab test these films for IR, UV, and LVT! Gila *claims* to reject 99% of UV which would be amazing, but I have to take the word from Chinese manufacturers that typically find ways to falsify their claims... if anyone has the equipment please post your findings!
solar heat vs Thermo heat; got to watch the words they use! Thermal energy is heat, while solar energy is the technology that converts the sun's energy to useful forms. Learn the difference between thermal and solar energy, and how they are related or unrelated in various applications. so 71% solar heat reduction is what?
@@cameliabalan2537 I did not try it...but when I was looking up window films on Amazon, a customer had posted a review with a photo of a cracked storm window after he had applied black privacy window film. I think the dark colors absorb more heat from the sun & causes window panes to crack, so I abandoned the idea of using windows films.
Honestly, based on my experience, it is better just to install pure white curtains and close them to do the work because white reflects the most sunlight. Otherwise if the curtain was any other different color, then the curtain would just absorb heat instead and make your home hotter.
@@Clouds-su3dc White Blinds you can angle for privacy and nice light shears so no one can see through gives the view out a soft mood along with side drapes for a splash of color and decor! I love ivory shears. I have a large arched window and I'm going to put a center metal drapery holder above in the middle and on each side then get a large swag scarf to hang from the top center and draped to the sides and pulled back to dress the shears up. Although A little tint would be nice too,
Get a White roof and all white curtains for windows, it does way more than that. Barnum sulphate white paint to paint over the roof is the best option. It can cause you not to use your AC at all during the hot day.
Yeah the title says best films for heat reduction but yet the first film didn’t even say how much heat reduction you would get from it that’s pretty pathetic

thank you, sir
can you recommend a brand?
Yes. What is your recommendation?
Solution?
I saw a review of a film on Amazon that someone was composing the film broke their windows. Now I believe them.

@@yogzentreking5981yup. Just use blinding/shades in the night, same thing you would do if you didn’t have any tint.

@@m.taylor bad windows! I have dual pane windows get direct sun in Arizona hot temps no moisture. You must live somewhere humid then.
@@deedemarest443 Sure is. It's high humidy weather where I am. Maybe I should relocate.
I put this on all my windows and storm doors it keeps my house cool
Which one?
Can you explain why Kespen with 91% heat reduction is in 3rd place? What is the reason?
It's also the least expensive of the three. I think we can guess.
Ummm... these films are *not* 6 mm (0.236") in thickness! They're 6 mil (0.006") - big difference!
Who cares..
Kespen says not to use on double pane windows… how much of a rule is that?
KESPEN heat control is 91%, Buydecorativefilm heat control is 55% , Gila heat control is 71%. Don't you pick the one with the higher number which is Kespen? Why would any one pick Gila 2nd place?
Kespen is reflective. It is low quality. Ceramic film is the best. Hyper optik is the crème of the crop

Is it safe to apply window film on the interior of a storm window? Or will it cause one of the window panes to crack?
Hey! Did you find an answer to this? I have the same question.

You state that these films are 6mm thick? Forgive me if I don't have much faith in this video lol.
6 mil obviously..

@@Chris-hy6jy ohh relax, that confuses a lot of people. This guy is a window film expert and that’s okay
Yes, at 3:05 the text says "Thickness: 4mm", and at 4:57 it says "Thickness: 6mm". Incompetence.
I need the heat control type
so where the hell is the window sun reflecting film link I'm looking for ?????
Easy to remove if living in Apt
It’s pronounced heela like Gila monster lizard
I wonder what other niches that this format would work with. Nice

Is it possible to have a photo turned into window film to block a close neighbor?
That is called one way vision
There are all sorts of decorative films for that, just go google this up.
