      At night if you have on your lights and outside it is dark you will be able to see inside. However, a way to prevent being able to see inside at night is by having an outside light above the window.

    Maybe helpful but the main advantage imo is the reduction of heat and insulation more than for privacy. During the day you will reflect most of the uv light and head well at night you will reflect most of the heat back in. In terms of energy consumption I believe it’s estimated to reduce your cost by 10%. Annually that adds up.

    Good video. Can you guesstimate about how much light is reduced from the inside looking out? What percentage darker from inside looking out should I expect with a regular privacy tint? We want our rooms to be as bright as possible during the day. A before and after comparison video from the inside looking out on a sunny day would be a nice follow up.

    • @CampbellWindowFilm
      @CampbellWindowFilm  Год назад

      Translucent films are not directional. The effect is the same on both sides. You can only get one-way privacy using reflective film and outdoor lighting. There is a directional film called Lumisty you may want to check out, but it is still only effective from certain angles and the same from either side. glassfilmenterprises.com/lumisty.htm

    Adding film to dual pane windows can also cause the internal airspace of the panes to exceed the rated pressure and blow the seals between the panes. Be very cautious when putting any film on dual pane windows!!!!

    • @CampbellWindowFilm
      @CampbellWindowFilm  4 года назад +2

      Most manufacturer's now have dual pane safe window films backed by a replacement warranty. These films are engineered to maintain a low level of absorption so that expansion and temperature changes are extremely minimal. 20 years ago, this was a problem. Today, not so much, as long as you stick with a well known major manufacturer like 3M Window Films. Ask to see the dual pane protection warranty. Thank you for the feedback.

    • @CampbellWindowFilm
      @CampbellWindowFilm  5 лет назад +3

      Dante Rubio it depends on which product you use, but typically the sun is far brighter than interior lights, so even on a cloudy day it is relatively easy to get decent privacy with a medium or darker film in the conditions you described. Thanks

      Ok, thanks you very much, so, what is the difference with a two way mirror? does the two way mirror not work at the same way?
      Both serve as privacy mirrors, so what's the difference?

    • @CampbellWindowFilm
      @CampbellWindowFilm  5 лет назад +2

      @@danterubio8499 Yes, a 2 way mirror works the same way but is a shinier look. More metals = more mirror-like finish. You do not need to have a "chrome" look to get privacy and most home owners do not want that silver look.

    • @CampbellWindowFilm

      Great question. The outdoor porch light would have to be brighter than the interior lighting. You’ll need a bright bulb outside and dimmers inside if you are to achieve this. It’ll be tricky.
