One thing to add: it is super easy to recruit your bears at rank 9, and with reduced time in global recruitment, therefore taking casualties isn't that big of a deal
I have played the crap out of Total War Warhammer, but I am also quite bad. So, I must humbly ask, how can you do this?
How do you lower your global recruitement as Kislev ? Im at turn 200 and it takes me 2 turns to recruit the war bears, how do you lower it to only 1 turn ?
@@bearistotle2820 Having enough buildings that allow to recruit one specific unit will reduce its global recruitment time by 1 turn per X buildings. For WH2 "X" was 10. AFAIK for WH3 it is 15.

I did Kostaltyn Patriarchs and Elemental bears in my legendary run, easily beat 3 full stacks at once with pretty much full health at the end. Also immune to attrition and plague as you heal in combat, so that's a nice bonus. Throw in one Ice witch and there really was nothing that could stop it, the final battle was done in 10 minutes or so.
I guess the downside to that one was that it cost 10k/turn :p
Kind of random but how do you grow your economy with kislev I usually find that I struggle being able to field anything more than 5k upkeep?
@@nicholasgarcia2362 grab all the iron producing settlements you can to reduce upkeep for your units
Yea I really thought the Great Orthodoxy Patriarchs would take the "best" Kislev spot. It's only negative is you have to play Kostaltyn to truly unlock it.
@@nicholasgarcia2362 Sylvania and Ostermark(?) [The one with the red bull on a black and white shield.] both have gold as resources in their capitals. You should be pushing south and west before you go any further than that port in the north or the Hell Pit to the extreme northwest. Every single one of your settlements should have the market or equivalent building. Blue skill tree for lords. After your settlements no longer need growth you should switch the declaration to the +5% gold. With enough upgraded capitals and the +$% market factionwide bonuses it just starts pouring in.

It would be the strongest for me, if boris wasn't throwing around the enemy lord/heroes like a bit of wet tissue for 0 damage
I dont think its stronger than one man doomstacks or the bloodthirsters.
There are also probably a lot of others but given how new the game is people are still figuring stuff out. I would even say minotaurs of khorne would be a solid doomstack.

Love the way Legend tests doomstacks now. Feels more like you would use the army and tests it.
This army was unbearable for Tzeentch, yet the game says that Legend bearly won the battle.

@@maksymokolot4648 part of me was being facetious, hence the lower case. but it's bad and low-effort puns that I dislike. Anyone who was following WH3 prior to release has heard the same "unbearable" and "bearly" low-effort Kislev puns being made over and over. Now it's just eye-rolling. It's one of those things where 1 person came up with it, and now it is constantly repeated by people who think it's clever to copy what got someone else some likes. As for "hating on language," if you think bear puns are somehow advancing the English language into new and exciting territory then I'd love to hear more.
I used this set up a lot. The frost maiden gives the spell for more charge, stacking with Patriachs charge hymn. Also, Boris unique skills, the red skills and the technology tree makes the bear riders disgustingly good.
My only question I'm going back and forth is the number of Patriarchs and their hymns : 2 heals and 1 melee ? Or 1 of each ?
Cool. Could you please do a video on the best doomstack for Grand Cathay? I have my own ideas after watching your video on the unit roster for Grand Cathay but I have yet to see a video anywhere on RUclips of the perfect army for this faction.

Patriarch doomstack was easily multiple times stronger than this one, practically invincible in my experience. This is still pretty good though, never hurts to have a variety of doomstacks.
Yeah, Patriarch doomstacks are pretty broken from what I've seen especially in kostaltyn.
Especially with how easy it is to increase the amount of patriarchs. In my current Kislev campaign I have like 50 slots available.
Sure but patriarchs are capped, war bear riders aren't. Yes, all hero doomstacks tend to be the strongest, but they require slots, and since agent spam is the easiest way to deal with the chaos rifts and hordes of enemy agents in general, you can't make a ton of full patriarch doomstacks because they're tied down doing that. You can however make as many war bear rider stacks as you can afford, and even without Boris leading them they're still extremely powerful.

I'd be interested to get your thoughts on a similar stack but swapping out four of the bears for a pair of War Sleds and a pair of Groms
I've been running with that stack, and I've found the sleds make reasonably good anti-air for dealing with ranged flyers that the bears can't reach, and Grom is always nice to have.
I love how the game treats taking some casualties spread on all units as same kind of victory as getting all units wiped out. And it was the same in Warhammer 2

Quite the grizzly fight there. I do know that Tzeentch can be quite overbearing.
Tzeentch is delightfully broken.
I absolutely love these warbears, everytime I think I'm about to go into a very hard fight and think I'm going to lose half of my army, they end up absolutely destroying the ennemy and i dont even lose a single unit, they are good against everything Khorne, Slaanesh, Nurgle, ogres, Cathay, even Tzeentch
On my Kostaltyn playthrough I gave Boris a similar army but felt that Kostaltyn's hero statck was stronger. I also gave Boris a few more patriarchs, (think I had 2 healers, one vigor buff, one melee buff) and an elemental bear for siege attacker.
I was playing as the other faction but I think both those armies were better than the one you featured so the "strongest" is quite suspect.
Bloodthirster Doomstack would chop these bears to pieces.
Those bears really kick a$$. I don't think I could have done what you did. I guess as long as the AI doesnt make an aerial range doom stack wiping out all the little stuff on the ground is a good way to get the army loses to win the fight.
I've yet to come across one in WH3 but it was always a treat to be attacked by the AI fielding a doomstack of Necrofexes or something, not matter how frustrating or infuriating it was.
I think 2 Tempest Witches speed up most of my matches.
flipping your consumables to accelerate Winds of Magic as you close with their army, and then dropping 2 Hawks of Miska on the blob enveloping your stack, and then reset the cooldowns, and drop 2 more will put most units in route.
I like hero stacks because the AI thinks it can beat you, and you don't have to spend all day chasing them on the maps. It will stay very far away from your bear stack, if it can.
Not a 10/10 for 3 main reasons.
1. Weak to flying ranged.
2. Not a single entity so when it takes damage its potential damage output drops.
3. Limited healing (both due to lack of lore of life and when entities are lost they can't be recovered other than by waiting about).
Compare to a stegadon doom stack and its clearly weaker.

@KIDAS It really depends if the bears damage reduction is enough to stop a steg 1 hitting each entity. If not then the steg will probably win as with each attack the bears get weaker and healing can't revive those dead models, meanwhile the stegs are healing fine.

Half bear riders half elemental bears works nice too with Boris.
Whenever people ask me how I can enjoy cheesing the AI, I think of just how much bullshit the AI gets to skirt the rules. The AI would gladly make me their bitch if they could, so I have absolutely no qualms about making them my bitch first.

I used this doomstack in a Kislev coop campaign (with one more patriarch) in a siege attack against almost 3 stacks of slaneesh. Boy that was a bitch to fight, slaneesh towers firing at me, no maneveuverability. Still won tho, lost only two bear units and recaptured Kislev for my buddy
Sieges with cavarly is annyoing, you are fighting the pathfinding more than the enemy.
war bear riders in general get insane AR value, you can autoresolve almost anything with that army
I've had them use the ultimate bombardment after the battle was won, over and over off cooldown
I think you can hide this army at the beginning to make it harder?
Question: does each seperate Tzeentch army get its own pool of army abilities - rather than just 1 for the ai "player". That might explain how they can spam them? (it's still BS though!)
the big bombardment is on roughly 2 minute cooldown and it's cooldown is independent of all other army abilities, and they don't need any magic or casters to activate it(so you can't even counter it that way), they just need to unlock it on campaign map.

@@ravenseraph yes, which is why you want to make a beeline to erase the main tzeentch faction in current balance regardless of your position so you don't need to deal with that(usually unlocks between 1st and 2nd rift generations for AI). Cav and monsters have the speed and reaction time to dodge those, but infantry doesn't, which means your crapstacks get erased every battle.

I know Legend hates the lore, but honestly a Frost Maiden of Ice helps there. Once you bust through the gates and your bears are bogged down in a huge blob just inside, wreck the defenders with an overcasted Heart of Winter. Expensive, but the results are worth it imo

You did give the patriarch doomstack a 10/10, so by all accounts that'd be the strongest doomstack in Kislev's roster. Is it spammable, up to about 5 stacks sure, not sure you'd need much more beyond that anyway. Maybe do about 2 or 3 of them, this way you still have enough patriarchs for your other armies. But I mean, it is cheaper than the patriarch doomstack, doesn't mean it's the strongest doomstack. For me the title strongest means strongest, regardless of cost or effective caps. You could say this doomstack is more efficient and spammable since there's no caps on war bears, but it's not the strongest if you give this a 9.5 and the patriarchs a 10.
Seem like with tzeentch added we now have a standard test for doomstack
It's ok with shitty total war AI they'll just charge into melee the moment they get obscured

I use this stack with a 3rd patriarch that has the melee attack area buff and 1 elemental bear that has regeneration from Boris for siege attacker. Absolutely unstoppable army if you blob tight the whole time and the elemental bear surprisingly usually gets more kills than the bear riders and always finishes with full health
I guarantee this would win against the bloodthirster stack
the items could have been better too like white cloak of ulric, whatever the aoe debuff weapon kislev gets, balalaikas of arari and the braziers of dazhs which give aoe heal as long as the wielder is in combat, which means you can give a patriarch the melee attack buff or the vigor buff instead of a heal.
What a GRIZZLY situation to find yourself in. This was pure PANDAmonium. I don't know if I would BEAR dealing with this battle. Good think URSA good at the game.

In the graphic section of all things you can set the game to ultra unit scale. Then you get more models per unit

Worst part is no siege attacker
While good, that seemed like one of the more chaotic doomstack videos. Seemed like a lot of micro to (i.e. not idiot proof).
I dont see why he plays the fight so suboptimally. Just play the fight to win and thr army performs better and you would have fewer casualties. It would be like having a ranged doomstack (i.e. waywatchers) and just using a wide formation like an idiot. Then when it performs badly "durr waywatchers suck hurr 4/10". That is basically the logic you are enforcing when you say " im going to let the AI that already cheats massively get organised!" It is one thing to take on 3/4 armies with 1 but if you find a super hard single army abd fight it like a moron you still can get battered. And yea like you say, this wasnt exactly an 'easy to use' army. It may seem lile it but you had to click a lot. Your average joe probably wouldnt win this battle despite the strength of the army. I personally think he should stop rating these stacks based on how easy it is to use, just give it an honest rating if used optimally and add a caveat of '10/10 but you really gotta use it well and you have to know how to use it'.

Hi guys! please tell me how I can change the size of my army in the game settings (I mean the number of troops), as far as I can see I have fewer units than I would like :( Please help me, I can't find this anywhere in the game settings
It’s under graphics in the advanced tab, then select the unit size and change it to what you want
from main menu unit scale -> ultra, this doesn't apply to any active campaigns and you have to start new one for it to apply, but before you play, remember to exit the game so the setting is properly saved so you don't accidentally start a medium unit scale campaign later
you want to adjust Unit Scale. That'll impact your quantity of units.

This has been the lifeline of my struggling Boris campaign. Autoresolve really favors it. I've deleted multiple high level stacks of ogres/khorne/slaanesh/tzeentch through autoresolve. The only time I've lost it was by manually disbanding it because he got a plague and couldn't replenish enough while being somewhat surrounded,which would have been no problem if there was no plague. This has even defeated Skarbrand and Nkari in auto which I was surprised about considering its melee only and primarily large units. And with that bonus building in Kislev its definitely a very affordable stack.

I know its very popular for TW streamers to play "real time" but I really never understood it, so many little mistakes are made where if you just pause forna second to figure a situation out fully it would work out better

Big bear doomstack is a bit stronger in terms of raw power and can recover health between battles, but it's nowhere near as cost effective, it's like the difference between a dread saurian doomstack and a carnosaur doomstack in WH2, the dread saurian is stronger, but it costs far too much to justify it.
In WH3 you just don't need the ability to routinely kill 4 full armies a turn like in WH2, so that extra power and survivability just goes to waste.
My opinion, best kislev doom stack is a buttload of patriarch bear riders equipped with healing an 2 witch bear back riders ... all that replenishing is ... to me is the Ultimate idiot proof doom stack
4:40 The AI just uses those abilties on cooldown, they don't have to charge it with the mechanic the player does. I've seen the ogres use their heal one the first time a unit gets shot by a cannon in the battle, and Tzeentch keep using theirs with all their casters dead.
Legend, but skaven weapon teams doomstack definitely wouldn't beat those Tzeenth armies and you rated it 10/10
Pretty sure I did not give it a 10/10 rating. So I feel like you're just making up crap. A lot of that going around lately. Also a skaven weapon team could totally beat those armies by ambushing them one at a time. A properly built skaven weapon team army would have something like 150% ambush success chance. those burning chariots would just instantly die to jezzails.

@@Taigification you could of had supply lines bug, it increased costs lots
AI even cheats so much with bound spells...CA doesn't want to spend any money update the algorithm, just give AI insane amount of buffs and let it bypass many limiting factors then call it difficulty.

full stack of patriarchs is way better
Its tankier, but has trouble taking out large amount of infantry. Also the bear riders are so strong I only felt the patriarchs marginally better if at all.
I actually think this is better but patriarch spam is definitely really good.
@@LegendofTotalWar another advantage of patriarch spam is the ai stupidity. You can put all of patriarchs in one giant blob, and enemy missile infantry (proved in tzeentch horrors case) for some reason goes into melee instead of range attack. And enemy artillery can damage their own units. And they also more resistant to magic, which damage some of bear riders in this video
With this stack you don't have to waste 5 hours clicking the patriarch levelup notification though lol.

I will never understand the urge for developers to put annoying ass shit in their game. There's no way in the dev cycle they actually thought the AI constantly cheating felt good.

Patriarch doomstack better
It's 10 out of 10 for autoresolve doomstack - it can win pretty much anything. Autoresolve rates this units too much.
