- the boys are breaking our hearts
another amazing episode, it felt like it lasted 2 minutes. we're still not used to waiting a week for an episode. also i have no idea how to edit these episodes for them to fit in one part, honestly, i don't think it's gonna get easier
that scene with ivar was amazing and terrifying, it showed perfectly why people should be scared of him.
ubbe continues to the peace keeper, literally in this episode, but it back fires, nonetheless we love him even more for trying to end the war.
like we said, his and ivars relationship is gonna be one of the most interesting things this season and we can't wait to see how it plays out especially when they go against each other
i can't talk more cause i have to go, we said all we wanted to in part 2 which will come out in an hour or so. and yes i know part 2 of 5x01 is blocked, ill try to get it up soon when i have time, along with episode 19

Love how Ivar holds an army with fear alone. Even Ubbe looked scared of the power ivar has. A power no money or muscle can give you but the cripling power of fear.
That Ivar scene was so fucking brilliantly acted. This show is just filled with amazing actors, holy hell. That's the type of scene that is acted so convincingly that you get scared in real life as if you were one of those soldiers watching him make that speech. It's interesting, we lose Travis Fimmel with Ragnar's death and in his place are his sons who might potentially be just as good of actors as he was throughout the show.
Ivar would make Ramsey Bolton put his shittin' pants on.

Personally lagertha deserves to die but I see no reason for ubbe,ivar and the rest of the brothers to die.
For me the real Lagertha died with Ragnar.. and i like Ubbe but im on Ivars side atm.. its too late for peace..
Also is Ivars pride his weakness? After Aethelwulf screamed coward he went out to the battle.. im pretty sure that wasnt planned for him to be there

Major props to Alexander Høgh for this episode. Ivar is an incredibly difficult character to portray and, though he has done a great job with the character since his first scene, this episode was on another level altogether. Definitely in my top 10 episodes of all time.
Yaaaas girls, so excited for this!! Hands down the sickest perfomance by Alex/Ivar, my f*cking god, he is terrifying!! Everyone was too afraid to do anything.

Lawren Stewart He is ridiculously sweet, funny and shy, it's really weird seeing him in this EXTREME villain role! Just a normal, young, Danish boy :-D

All his selfshness, special treatment, the fact that his legs don’t work, the fact that he always felt as if he was behind his brothers, all of that made a monster, and this scene reflects it all. Theres no other words to describe it but incredible

It's ridiculous how people overlook Ivars intelligence and focus on his volatile unstable behaviour...the fact that he is a better leader then both his brothers combined with no legs...his judgement is demonstrated when he schools his brothers in the art of war

Both have a point, but Ubbe is more right, they cannot keep fighting like this forever, there will be no one left in the end to claim that damn land. Ivar is too bloodthirsty to see that. Even Ragnar had a limit for carnage, even in Paris to punish Floki. Ivar has the men today, but tomorrow he will die alone

haha you forget some things in the episode(& show) clearly, so let me clear it up.
Answear to your number one: yes he wants to claim land & it seems to me you forget something. AthelWulf was seriously considering to honor the claim(eventhough the document was invalid). It was Bishop Heahmund, that took it upon himself to make them leave, without AthelWulff consent.
My answear to your number two: HAHAHAHA! More wise. What? you think the way he is conquering is gonna be something the Saxon people is ever gonna be acceptable to them or what? did you forget him melting a priest with melted gold? the way he is conquering has being proven time & time again in real history, that yes, its effective, but the people will never be submissive & will never support them. The Roman Empire did it, Alexander the great did it, Vikings did it also, which is also why theywere constantly also driven out. Ivar way,is that way: The way of fear & its only gonna be met with endless blood & constant fighting. His way, will only end with how Ragnars also ends. The second he leaves, the saxons will rise up & burn down there farms.

My answear to your number three: Am astounded you lecture people about episode 3, when you yourself forget points in episode 2 & 3. Bad sarcasm is not fitting you man:) Again. If it was not for Heahmund, there could have being a real good possibillity that AthelWulff might have done something else. Heahmund is not the one in charge, AthelWulf is. Now would AthelWulf have done it? We don't know yet, but apparently from the preview, he is PISSED at Heahmund.

The scene with Ivar yelling at the Saxon was the moment this show became better than game of Thrones.

I love at 7:04 you were like "that's the scene!" I know?! I was waiting for this iconic scene to happen with Ivar, when he started happening I got chills.
I find it amazing that the four sons of Ragnar that are left are like the two sides of him. Ragnar's oldest sons Bjorn and Ubbe are like his peaceful side. Both favor him the most and have his mannerisms and both are married. Bjorn wants to explore and discover new lands and Ubbe wants to farm and have peace. Ragnar's youngest sons Ivar and Hvitserk are like his warring side. Neither are married and just want to fight and raid. Ivar is Ragnar at his most fearful and tactical. Ragnar wanted to be famous by discovering new lands and advancing his people and Ivar wants fame by raiding and conquering. Hvitserk is Ragnar's indecisive and doubtful side. Which brother do I support? I'm not sure so I'll have Ubbe's back today and tomorrow I'll have Ivar's back. It's almost like when you are young (Ivar and Hvitserk) all you want to do is make a name for yourself and make dumb mistakes while doing so. You are too young to see the error of your ways and you know better than everyone else what is right. When you are older (Bjorn and Ubbe) you realize your mistakes and just want to settle down and be calm and go traveling. LOL. It makes total sense that the four brothers would split and the two that are the most alike would side with one another. Fascinating.

1 thing...they talked through various bits but as soon as Ivar the Boneless started his roar of defiance at the very sight of death staring him in the face. holy crap its such a powerful scene. so much anger, so much rage. just seeing the look in the eyes of the local soldiery as this man roars and rages, hell bent on slaughtering them all.... its an amazing series and you ladies are delightful. liked and subscribed.

Also ivar is said to be a berserker a elite group of vikings that would go into a huge fit of rage no regard for their wounds they would be very intimidating on the battlefield and would also take the form of animals of the pelts they wore they would go into a huge fit of rage

I'll paste part of my comment from Alpha wolf reacts because it's a bit long :)
As much as I love Ubbe (1st place to me along with Ivar), Ivar was 100% right: The Saxons are not defeated, they still have a strong army and they still intend to fight and kill us all. So negotiating with them is useless, it won't buy you anything other delaying their attack, along with allowing them time to regroup and get stronger. And going willingly into their camp like this was... Suicide. Ubbe and Hvitserk could very well be dead by now.
Now the terrifying Image they built so far was also damaged, because 2 leaders of the Viking force were shamed. Ivar will have to work on that as well.
I think that Ubbe, although being a great fighter, just doesn't have a heart for war. He'll fight, but he is not willing to participate in a long war. He wanted to show that "his way" can work, but now it is not the time: Settling down is only possible when your enemy is destroyed.
Hvitserk is a Viking, as we've seen.. So I wasn't surprised when he stayed. The manner that happened was sad... Living at the last moment like that :\
it breaks my heart to see them being divided on this note... :\ I can understand each side though. Ubbe doesn't want to be on a lower rank than his young brother, but Ivar is on the right, when he says that Ubbe can't lead an army in a war.
But Ivar's strategy worked, all his little traps worked... Nonetheless, he had to be reminded that despite wanting to fight and kill everyone himself, he is still a cripple. So he was close to death...
Nevertheless, his presence and absolute savageness on the battle field did help a lot: His enemies pissed their pants, not realizing what they are witnessing, thinking he is some kind of a demon who feasts on death. When they heard him growling his name, something tells me that they already heard that name before... And his own troops, seeing their crippled leader going full berserk, were inspired and got a boost for their moral.
But Ivar does feel his legs, that is why he is in constant intense pain... It's just that his bones are deform and he can't move them that much. He felt the arrow, but he was in a blood lust frenzy.
Oh and I hope that Harald and Astrid will get married :) They are perfect! Two opposites, she's the polite young girl and he is the older man who knows nothing about women... With a miraculous dance party, some ale, a Disney duet and a Flying carpet, they will be wed to the smell of whale guts and cheers of drunk oversized Vikings! skål!
Fun fact: in the actual old sagas Halfdan was one of Ragnar's sons
