  • here i am again uploading at 2am
yes, we know vikings is tomorrow, actually for us it's a day after at 2-3am, so you'll get episodes 19 and 20 before the episode airs i promise, we're gonna edit everything tomorrow and post it
    now back to this episode.
im tired and i have to wake up early to edit, so im just gonna talk about the revenge, and i think that's the most important part. but this episode was one of our favorites of the show which i why we pretty much left the whole ending in, so the chances of this getting blocked are pretty high
i think we may be the only people who cried at aelle getting tortured, of course no tears were shed for that piece of shit.
by now everyone knows we made a break for 2 months after 4x15, we didn't even know if we were gonna continue, and i think seeing this episode and finally seeing that revenge got the better of us. but also we were angry for a long time and aelle dying gave some sort of closure and just relief that it was over, not that is was over for the characters cause they still haven't finished getting revenge, but for us who just held that anger for 2 months.
but also we realized nothing would be enough. there isn't a punishment or anything they could do to him that would feel enough or that would make ragnars death less painful, but we already knew that.
i think the scene where floki shows up with the rest of the army is truly one of the greatest scenes i have seen. it gave me chills the first time i watched it, it gave me chills when i edited it. they skipped the battle but honestly there wasn't even a battle to show, it was a 50:1 ratio, that would be done in a second so we didn't mind that at all.
what i really loved was how they showed the different reactions of all his sons, and the face that killed us and that we could relate to the most was bjorn. i think the rest of them didn't really grow up with ragnar, but bjorn did. when they talked about ragnar in 4x10 and they all said what they had about their father bjorn said ''he's still the greatest man in the world to me'' and that quote still sticks with me. they showed us the face of each son while they were torturing aelle and, unlike the others, there was no satisfaction or 'happiness' on bjorns face, and i think he also knew that nothing would be enough nor would anything help fill the void. i think that was really well portrayed, at least it was for us who interpreted it that way.
i really don't know if any of this made sense cause im tired and at this point don't even know what im writing, but i hope you at least know what i was trying to say
thank you for watching, see you tomorrow and i can't believe we'll get the next episode in a little over 24 hours, im sure everyone waited for it longer than me and milena did xx

@Adrian Valladares Then how come many versions of the Bible, including King James, reference other gods existing, kind of a lot? Especially in Psalms? Sure, they say that Yahwey is highest among them. Example: Psalm 95:3
      King James Version
3 For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods
People did not come here to get preached at. If any of us want some passive-agressive and condescending religious bullying, then we'll let you know.

Ecobert was also cocky & arrogant but smart above it all hence making his choosing of death part of the deal.... much kudos to both actors....

"they showed us the face of each son while they were torturing aelle and, unlike the others, there was no satisfaction or 'happiness' on bjorns face, and i think he knew that nothing would be enough nor would anything help fill the void"
That is how I thought it also. Ivar and others felt pleasure and happiness about Aelle's death. But Björn felt only sadness because his father was dead. And not Aelle's death nor anything else would ever bring him back.

    • @holysecret2
      @holysecret2 6 лет назад +23

Björn also was the only of the sons who knew Ragnar as a father. Maybe except Ivar who, despite it being a relatively short while, kind of got to know that side on the journey they took together. So only Björn really felt the loss, the others only knew Ragnar as a legend and (deservedly) felt empowered avenging their father's death and fulfilling his legacy. With Ivar it's a little more complicated, he mourned Ragnar and Aslaug (whose death obviously was more imminent to him and close to his heart) together, whereas Björn didn't have an outburst of emotion like that until Aelle's execution.

Interesting how this show made us cheer for the baddies. Made us cheer for the painful death of a King who punished the man whom brought Viking raiders to his lands, pillaged, looted and killed his people. Cheered for the death of a king who only wanted to protect his lands.
It really shows how easy people are to follow a person, no matter what they do of cruel and shady things as long as we like that person.

i get why people hate Aelle (i do too, in a way), but if you really try and put your emotions aside, and judge the situation objectively, then Ragnar was more at fault than he was...he just defended his kingdom from folks that arrived to rape and pillage and murder them....so, killing him is revenge alright, but not Justice (not that it matters, just poiting it out)

    • @holysecret2
      @holysecret2 6 лет назад +6

I think it's justice for the joy he took in torturing Ragnar. I don't think Ragnar ever showed such cruelty to his opponents. Jarl Borg he offered an honorable death, even though he betrayed him and took over his home, and King Horik, who tried to murder his family, he also didn't torture like that.
      (spoiler)
And King Ecbert, who respected Ragnar, also gets the respectful death he deserves. You know what they say, revenge begets revenge, and it gets difficult to judge where the justice starts and where it ends. It ends up being a messy situation where everyone kind of gets what their opponent thinks they deserve. So Aelle got his justice, Ragnar's family got its justice, Ecbert also doesn't suffer unjustly and (personally) deserves his end as well for the crimes he commited against the Viking settlers.

It's funny how this show can make you celebrate for the bad guys. Aella really did nothing to deserve the way he died. His people and holy sites were attacked by the Northmen for no reason other than their own greed. All he ever did was defend his land. He even gave Ragnar the opportunity to repent and find his way into heaven. And yet, we celebrate Aella's murder.

    REVENGE!!!
    Great reaction from our sister!!
This was THE MOST emotional reaction to this episode out of, well, any reaction ever, I would say. And I totally get you... : For two months you were in pain. So as you said it so well, it was really a closure for this period for you...
Floki arriving with his men, looking like a savage beast, oh man... :) They tricked Aelle into thinking they had a small force, while their army hid behind the hill. So when she showed to battle, he had no more chances of running away.
At first I was disappointed that we didn't get to see at least a few seconds of the battle, but as you said Lola, " they skipped the battle but honestly there wasn't even a battle to show...". That is true. And I believe that they wanted to show us that the victory was so complete, that in a matter of second, our son Ivar was dragging Aelle behind his chariot.
Well, regarding Harald... He takes things too literally :) Like, she tried to brush him off, as if saying "Yeah, when you'll do this impossible thing, I'll marry you. So long for now, *friend*...". But, finhair being the finhair that he is, thought that it's somekind of a destiny. So all that BS he's doing was for nothing. Oops :)
But I must give credit to Ivan Kaye. I can't imagine anyone else playing Aelle, and he was very committed to this role. He did his best to make the audience dislike him, despite him being 180 degrees different in real life (He's more of a geek hippy and really cool guy). And he knew that some people would ridicule Aelle's appearance, calling him a "fat pig" and things like that, while forgetting that there is an actor behind this body... Of course, they don't mean to insult Ivan, but they mock his body, which is his really. And he lost huge amounts of weight since season 1. So I'm sure some of it hurt him... But he played his part to the end. And Still, he did his best for our Vikings family and for that, I salute this great actor. But Aelle deserved it lol He was acting like a fool, thinking that revenge would never come, not relying on what his men told him, not preparing his forces, not calling for aid... Yeah, when you're that careless, this is what happens.
For me, one of the best scenes was right before the blood eagle, when Bjorn made Aelle show them the place of our father's death. And then, when my son Ivar surprised everyone with his Saxon speech, telling Aelle that there are things which gold cannot buy... :) And of course, our good old friend Floki got a piece of Aelle as well :)

That's amazing how stories can shape feelings. People are crying when sociopathic serial killer responsible for slaughtering hundreds of men, women and children dies but they're cheering on the death of a king that was just trying to save his people ;)

For those complaining that there isn't any battle.scene in this episode...It is kinda self-explanatory since it was more of a massacre not worth showing...more like justified-rape-towards-ultimate-savage-completion at the hands of the Vikings.

Lets be real, if I was the English and was under Viking persecution I would be incredibly cruel to each and every one of them. I would use every tactic and savor every chance to cause pain against them that I could. Believe it or not but people hate you when you murder them, especially in the way Vikings did. People find excuses to hate Aella because he's not a "likable" guy. I'm definitely not his fan but i recognize mob mentality when I see it. You know it's true.

You aren’t going to like what happens to the Vikings in real history. In the end the Vikings are finally crushed by Alfred the greats descendants. Then the normans come (rollos descendants) invade from France to take the throne of the Saxon kings. The Viking age only lasts 200 years till they are kicked permanently out of England. You lady’s took to much pleasure in this death. A bit concerning. This king deserves it yes, but it was a very disturbing scene.

"I've built my whole life around you"
and this girl here says it was his mistake.... so to simplify, to love someone is just stupid, because it will always be a mistake, when you really love someone, you do build your life around that person, every decision you make has that person in regard first.
so she eluded him, and he really loved her, and the reaction this girl had, is that he was stupid. damn right he was, and that's why many men aren't passionate anymore.
she could simply say she wasn't interested, but girls always find a way to hurt a guy don't they?
