One Arm Challenge With My Brother

- I had soooo much fun filming this!
In this video, I challenge my 14 year-old, able bodied brother to a #onearmchallenge - where we compete to see who can do a lot of the tasks I do everyday with one arm better/faster.
In this video we:
-Make a Sandwich
-Do one-armed push ups
-Tie our Shoes
-Fold a Hoodie
-Put a dog collar on
He was pretty confident going into it, but after we were done he said he has a new perspective because it's harder than it looks!!
Hopefully the "challenge" theme music doesn't confuse you too much! I was aiming for quality because I knew I'd beat him by time, so that's why I'm not acting rushed. Ha. :)

I think you might be able to take him even if he used two arms in the lush ups! And I don't cut my peanut butter sandwiches at all!

Awesome Megan! I don’t know how you kept the bread on the counter while spreading the PB? Much less all the openings and the diagonal cut! It was all fun to watch! 👍🏻☮️
I love one arm pushups. I now learned how to do one arm and one leg pushups. It's great to see you so competent.

That was fun to watch! It's funny he was instinctively trying to use his other arm in the beginning. Shows how difficult every day tasks can be with one arm.
Thank you Meghan, I've been doing everything with one hand for 11 years, due to having a stroke, your videos are helpful, I like the way you open a jar, against you and the counter, I've been holding the jar with my legs, your method will be easier,
I noticed your bread didn't move around when you were spreading the peanut butter, how did you do that?

Funny thing, I'm watching you thinking 13-14 seconds, double knot, .. that pretty good. So, for the first time EVER, in 50 years of being an amputee, I timed myself. I'm getting 19 to 22 seconds. I'm thinking, "yeah, she's younger than me and must have better manual dexterity in her fingers. But, I don't have nails like yours." I see your method of tying and I was dead sure that my way HAD to be quicker. So, I'm thinking; how is it she's so much quicker? I spent an hour this afternoon tying and untying, .. I got worse as I went on. Than I watched your video again, .. You cheated> Well, OK you didn't cheat but you were starting with your laces crossed so that all you need do is make the bows and double knot. I was starting with my laces cinched up and holding them. I felt like an imbecile. There's a hour I'm never getting back. At my age you can't be throwing them away like that. So, what's you time, if you start with you laces cinched up but not crossed? Just curious.

I don't need to do any of this one handed - I'm watching for tips for my wife who is a stroke survivor who has lost use of her left arm/hand). Try putting the lace through the initial loop (the part where you have one end of the lace under your foot) twice. It might be easier to keep the shoe tight while you finish the knot and it keeps it tight all day.
Take a look at Oxo Good Grips Bag Cinch on Amazon. Then, you only have wrestle with those lousy plastic tags the first time you open the bag. Also check out the Hamilton Beach Open Ease Automatic Jar Opener it really works for all but the toughest lids of many sizes.

I lost my arm 6 months ago & after finding your video you are suc h an inspiration. Did you ever consider an prosthetic arm? i can't see any benefits of having one. Many thanks Megan
Use a harness with plastic connectors, teach the puppy to step into the loops.

It’s not really fair though. You only have one arm, you are forced to use it, it’s your only choice. He has two, has no need to work with just one. You obviously have the advantage doing these challenges. Not hating, but still.
