What a great video! I’m always stunned that young adults are grasping the minimalism concepts and are grounding their lives with material intention. Scarcity mindset was huge for me as a gen xer. Frugality and income loss were big concerns. Several moves and changing jobs meant revamping each apt in my twenties. Being a teacher meant collecting things that I could use in my classroom and take with me if I left that school. Can you say book collection?! Then illness, divorce, and early retirement meant a radical shift. The things I held on to were irrelevant. So began minimalism for me and true freedom, peace, and joy, in spite of radical change. It’s a journey we all must travel to really embrace what we love, who we love, WHY, and what we will not tolerate. Then we curate our lives accordingly. Not only are my possessions perfectly suited, but my relationships are safe and joyful, my mental health is more balanced than ever, and my finances are well within my means (even on disability!) You are in such a great life space realizing this now 😊 God bless! 💖

I'd really like to hear more content on managing our lives as chronically ill individuals who also live with chronic pain. How can we live a more sustainable lifestyle and enjoy our homes?
    Thank you Elin❤.

I've been on a "no buy" since late Sept 2023. Only exceptions are groceries, my pup's food/medical care. This is my 4th time doing so since 2022. When I've been tempted to spend; I write all that I'm grateful for. Journaling, asking myself the "why " of wanting to purchase brings me back to reality. Gratitude is truly helpful and allows me to be more present. Thank you for all your wise content 💜

I'm 68 y.o. and find your channel to be so realistic and common sense. You bring up all the little things we think about and dismantle it to make us ask, why are we keeping this?

Thank you for another excellent video Elin! I enjoy your channel so much. In my min. journey I have found a way to appreciate beautiful things in the store, (or online) without having to buy it; without feeling like I have to OWN it. I can say 'Oh wow is that ever pretty,' smile, and keep keep moving! ~

I struggle with this so much and this makes so much sense! I've been working on this with myself for the last couple years. Covid seems like it has ramped up my scarcity mindset. Because I am the one in our home that went out to the shops, I physically witness emptied shelves. It didn't help that it took a year or so after 2020 for supplies to catch up and to have fully stocked shelves. I also hate to admit it, but I do struggle more with the first one. When someone compliments my outfit, it does reinforce this weird want to buy a new accessory or clothing item. And really, while I do like getting new things, I also hate that it drains my bank account. Thank you, as always, for providing practical tips and videos on this subject. Hope you are well 😊

@lailahjannell2686. Your point about the empty shelves during the covid experience really resonated with me. I went out for a "normal shop" during this period, but when I saw the empty shelves, I felt fearful and panicky; and that if I did not provide for my family then I was a hopeless mother and would be letting everyone down. Worse, we would starve. So I went and bought more than was on my list. I think those experiences fuelled the 'scarcity mimdet' for a lot of people. It was a horrible experience.

Elin, thank you for being so real with us. I too am so prone to constantly looking for the perfect pair of skinny jeans or maxi dress or..... If I don't buy it right now, it will be unavailable tomorrow. It is just exhausting. My closet is packed with clothes, so I am going to start wearing what I have and enjoy it. Thank you so much for for sharing these concepts. Absolutely on point!! Have a wonderful week.🌻

Thanks for the compliment! It’s a hard question to answer! Lots of different places. First of all I love shopping secondhand or vintage and use Poshmark a lot for brands I like. But I’ll shop at a range-at places even like Target, but I’ll also shop at Everlane, madewell, Sézane, Anthropologie, Jenni Kayne, Quince, Reformation, among others! My sweater spots are Jenni Kayne (pricey) and Quince (a little more affordable). Hope that helps
