I love that tip. I've been crocheting more than 60 years and I still have things to learn. Thank you.
You are very welcome! I'm glad the video was helpful!
Incredibly helpful! Thank you for pulling your piece up close to the camera and showing exactly which holes you used with the yellow needle.
Glad it was helpful!
Wonderful instructions.
Fantastic! Thank you!!
Verty useful and Really PERFECT
The other methods ive watched are ALMOST PERFECT
Thank you very useful I ❤️it😊
I'm so grateful to learn this from you! I have struggled for years with edges that aren't straight & every "solution" that I tried hasn't worked. But your's does & I'm so grateful! Please teach us what to do with a double crochet edge. Many thanks! 💜
I will try to make more shorter videos like this one, showing how I work double crochets.
I use the "standing" double crochet to keep the rows straight.
This is an excellent method! I really like how the edges look. Thank you!
Very useful tip..The finishing and edges matter a lot and you Olga have helped create the perfect finish for our projects Thank you
One word Brilliant 😊
Yes, it was useful and looks beautiful! I'm so thankful for your wisdom and the kindness with which you share it with us. I've been crocheting for years and this is a tip that I wish I had long ago but I will use it from now on.
??? Can this be used for double crochet or other designs? If so, can you do another video showing how you would do that?
Thank you, Olga! And, though the news has not been telling us much about Ukraine, I'm still praying for the people and for the country. Too much loss to comprehend! God knows what Ukraine needs. I pray that He brings it soon! I hope it is peaceful and free! ❤️
This specific method only works with sc. But I'll try to make more short videos like this one with useful tips, including straight edges for dc.
Thank you so much for your prayers for Ukraine! 🙏🏻🇺🇦
The finest explanation ever! Thank you.
I am speechless. This is so useful and very well explained!!!
Great tip! This method seems to work well for other types of stitches as well. Tried it on a project where I'm doing rows of slip stiches in back loops, and my edges turned out really neat. 👍
Wow, that's great, thank you so much for sharing that!
Oh! Thank you, I wanted to try those BLO/FLO-slip-stitch-made fabrics soon!
Thank you for this amazing and informative video. You made this so easy to follow!
Much easier than other methods I have seen!Thank you!
This worked so well for me. This is my new favorite method for straight edges! Thank you!

Omg! Your amazing! Thank you so much. Out of the hundred videos I watched you are the first one to explain it properly from beginning to end. Being a beginner crocheter this video was so do useful.
Thank you so so much.❤

These are the best tips to deal with edges. Mine usually are lumpy, but this works like a charm.
Does this straight edgemethod work on sc only or does it work on hdc and dc also ??
Thank you for this tip and for clear images as you worked the edges.
You are so welcome!

This is the most helpful tutorial i have ever come across😍
Granted i had to restart my project three times before getting it right😂
Thank you💃
You are most welcome! Happy crocheting!
Very much needed tip thanks
Great tip! Thank you! Now, could you do the same for double crochets that seem to have a big gap along the edge...there must be a tip for that too!
I'll try to make it soon!
I have used the method of starting each row with a "standing" double crochet. It gives a nice straight edge.
@@willworkforyarn4893 could you elaborate? How is a standing double crochet? Is it chained? Thanks! 💗
@@kabatox It actually eliminates the chains and makes a stronger stitch. I learned it about 20 years ago. It would be very difficult to explain how to do it in this format. I recommend going to The Crochet Crowd channel here on RUclips. Mikey has a tutorial and is great at showing how to do it. Hope this helps you.
@@willworkforyarn4893 Ooh, I will for sure check the tutorial you recommended! Thanks a lot, Mary! Have a wonderful day :)💗
Thank you. That was exactly the help I needed. 😊
Glad it helped!

Wonderful! Thank you!
Thank you!
Hi Olga it’s very neat amazing!
But what about double crochet and half double crochet? I use those stitches more often than single crochet. Would be great if you could do a tutorial for those stitches as well. Thank you for all you do for the crochet community 😊
WoW!! Thank you!
Beautiful, thank u!
Yes! Super useful. Thanks so much!!
I always have uneven edges and think I am doing something wrong. This technique is what I need to know. Thanks.
You are most welcome!
Love this 🤩💖
Thank you 😊
What a fantastic tip. Been crocheting for years. Will be using this technique. Hope your family is doing as well as expected, considering what they're going thru.
Thank you. Have a great week.🤗 Blessings🙏
Very useful thank you
Yes Thank you
oh my god THANKYOUU
Thank you for sharing!
Fantastic! I’ve learnt crochet on my own so never managed to learn basics i guess
PS: do you also have a similar tutorial for double crochet and half double crochet?
Unfortunately no, this technique only works of single crochet. But I did share some tips on how I make my double crochet edges straighter. But I can't remember in which specific video I included those tips 🤷🏻♀️
I am going to have to watch this again. Could you do a tutorial showing us how to do first & 2nd row? I did not get that. I think after watching this video again i can completely understand how you handle the rows. But not the first two.
Yes, I'll try to do is soon!
@@OlgaPoltava
Thank you!
It does look really neat but I’m afraid I don’t get it either. Starting from the beginning would really help me too 😊.
Thanks 👍👍
Brilliant tip; thank you very much. What is your favourite method of getting straight edges when you’re working half double and double crochet fabrics please?
That really depends on the pattern and on the yarn. In some patterns I use a beginning dc instead of 3 chains and that helps to achieve a straighter edge. Other times I would use 3 chains at the beginning of the row, but then at the end of the row I would make the last dc not into the 3rd (top) chain, but into the 2nd chain of turning 3 chains (actually in my new tutorial coming this week, I am using this method). When working with very thin yarns (such as mohair), I make dc2-tog instead of the last dc, which makes a better, straighter and sturdier edge.
@@OlgaPoltava Thank you for taking the time to answer me. That’s very useful to know 😘
Thank you a ton🙏
