I have spent the past two years avoiding written patterns like the plague because I just can't figure out where to start and finish rows. I muddle my way through or just stick to visual videos. You have just made the world make sense!! As a new crocheter (with diagnosed OCD🤦🏼‍♀️🤕) this is my ABSOLUTE #1 video to add to my playlist of ESSENTIAL MUST-WATCH videos!! Thank you sooooo much!! It took me a long while to understand completely where to stitch/ how they work/ what everything looks like. I am fully self taught, and started before RUclips existed with a Boye book. All these years and I'm only just getting proficient enough counting stitches and rows to take on projects that require it.
I like using small safety pins as stitch markers, they don't fall off and are super cheap and easy to find. Early on I'd mark the stitch while it was on my hook so I could be SURE I marked the right one.
I still have one of my first attempts... nice and square on one side but getting ever longer on the other. I guess I wad only adding a stitch every other row, haha.
Just keep practicing, get to know what the stitches look like.
    Great video!

Very clear and very helpful. It's my first blanket, and the pattern did not say if the turning chain stitch counts or not. So I mistakenly assumed it did not matter, and I don't even think I was being consistent. Now I know...and making a fresh start all the wiser, with a stitch marker ready to go :)

Thank you so much ma'am. This tutorial is just for me. I got stuck on a project I'm working on because I noticed the crooked look of the blanket. In my case, the project became slightly narrowed as I worked upward. Kindly illustrate the two ways to make up for the missed stiches. Thank you and God bless you.

This is what I expected from the video as well. I've completed the project & just now am realizing how terribly crooked all 4 edges are, too narrow, then too wide. I don't have any yarn of the same colors left over & I don't want to take if all apart to start over, because baby is coming this weekend. How do I fix if? Even if I have to do several, crazy, scalloped borders? Help!

If you are more like me, who learns from visuals while describing, here are the time marks for the very brief practical application images of her methods:
    4:15 4:26 7:13 9:34 10:06 10:35
I didn't have the time to identify each marker but maybe someone else can. Her camera work is tasteful and excellent but too brief for my feeble brain at 81!!! At least you can fast forward thru and also can slow down the images with the gear icon.

My project is a sweater starting from the bottom ribbing. I did a row of half double, then a row of double crochet. After many rows, I noticed everything was going sidways, but the stitch count was correct (94 stitches) every row. I tried using the turning chain not as a stitch and as a stitch (after frogging and starting over again 😢). It was the same problem both times. If I could attach a picture I would.

You are v good instructor and v beautiful with beautiful backdrop but I would benefit SO much more by more camera work as you spoke because this is more of a lecture. I have no idea where to place the crochet hook after turning, too brief, and NO idea where to put the stitch marker, just don't know how to read the demo. I will slow it way down and your camera work is so close up and great, but no reinforcement to train the eye how to read where to put the hook and stitch marker for newbies like me. Many other teachers same thing, mark the first chain, last chain, what and where? Subscribed of course and glad to find out its not just me ending up with odd trapezoid and geometrical shape for my pillow cover LOL!!!
