I have spent the past two years avoiding written patterns like the plague because I just can't figure out where to start and finish rows. I muddle my way through or just stick to visual videos. You have just made the world make sense!! As a new crocheter (with diagnosed OCD🤦🏼♀️🤕) this is my ABSOLUTE #1 video to add to my playlist of ESSENTIAL MUST-WATCH videos!! Thank you sooooo much!! Subscribed!!! ❤️❤️❤️🙏🏼👍🏼✌🏼😎💯
I used to decrease on some projects and was too lazy to unravel it because it was slightly visible but one day I decided to stop being lazy and started to fix my mistakes, my projects never looked better! I love your channel
This is the master video of all videos. I'm a novice and i have asked these questions since starting to crochet. You nailed it. I was beginning to figure edges and turning chain out BUT your explanation is golden. Every beginner needs to see this video. Thank you.
Omg thank you. I had to stretch my project and it came out perfect. I was ready to take the whole thing apart and believe me it was a lot. So glad I found you.❤
I've been teaching my granddaughters how to crochet and this video, I will definitely be showing them. Thank you so much for explaining these issues in such a simplified manor. As young as they are they'll still be able to understand what you're teaching. Thank you!
Thank you so much for this video. I definitely need to be more aware of keeping the edges straight! I love that you show exactly where to put your hook both at the beginning of a row and at the end.
I'm a beginner. This is recently my 3rd attempt. My edges are uneven I recently learned the turning stitch. That was a game changer. Hope to get this project done & even
It took me a long while to understand completely where to stitch/ how they work/ what everything looks like. I am fully self taught, and started before RUclips existed with a Boye book. All these years and I'm only just getting proficient enough counting stitches and rows to take on projects that require it. I like using small safety pins as stitch markers, they don't fall off and are super cheap and easy to find. Early on I'd mark the stitch while it was on my hook so I could be SURE I marked the right one. I still have one of my first attempts... nice and square on one side but getting ever longer on the other. I guess I wad only adding a stitch every other row, haha. Just keep practicing, get to know what the stitches look like. Great video!
Very clear and very helpful. It's my first blanket, and the pattern did not say if the turning chain stitch counts or not. So I mistakenly assumed it did not matter, and I don't even think I was being consistent. Now I know...and making a fresh start all the wiser, with a stitch marker ready to go :)
Thank you so much ma'am. This tutorial is just for me. I got stuck on a project I'm working on because I noticed the crooked look of the blanket. In my case, the project became slightly narrowed as I worked upward. Kindly illustrate the two ways to make up for the missed stiches. Thank you and God bless you.
This is what I expected from the video as well. I've completed the project & just now am realizing how terribly crooked all 4 edges are, too narrow, then too wide. I don't have any yarn of the same colors left over & I don't want to take if all apart to start over, because baby is coming this weekend. How do I fix if? Even if I have to do several, crazy, scalloped borders? Help!
Thank you for this video. I found this really helpful. I'm still kind of new at crocheting. My very first practice swatch looked like a loincloth, lol! I'm getting better, though.
Wow! I've always wondered what that meant. Thanks for this info because I have had frustrations with my ends of blanket slanting so I must jot this info down. Thx so much.
If you are more like me, who learns from visuals while describing, here are the time marks for the very brief practical application images of her methods: 4:154:267:139:3410:0610:35 I didn't have the time to identify each marker but maybe someone else can. Her camera work is tasteful and excellent but too brief for my feeble brain at 81!!! At least you can fast forward thru and also can slow down the images with the gear icon.
Thanks for your tutorial, it helps. The trouble I have is with counting and/or identifying what is a stitch, what is the turning chain when it’s counted as a stitch and I can’t tell what are rows. I keep watching and doing my best to identify.
ThANK YOU! Iam a knitter, but I have tried to learn how to crochet. I just can't wrap my head around the turning stitches and how to keep the edges straight. I am going to try again. Your explanation was very helpful, but I know I'm going to run into this issue again! Any more advice?
This was really helpful! I have a question about crochet in the round. In your opinion, what is the best way to change colors without getting a strange uneven jog when you switch yarns? Thanks!
My project is a sweater starting from the bottom ribbing. I did a row of half double, then a row of double crochet. After many rows, I noticed everything was going sidways, but the stitch count was correct (94 stitches) every row. I tried using the turning chain not as a stitch and as a stitch (after frogging and starting over again 😢). It was the same problem both times. If I could attach a picture I would.
I’m am an absolute beginner currently crocheting a chunky blanket with Bernat blanket yarn. It is curling, however my edges don’t look all that off. Will adding a border, or blocking the blanket straighten out & correct the curling problem.
Can you explain to me the current stitch/loop you’re working in at the beginning of a row? I think I always get an extra stitch because I crochet into the same loop that my hook is in.
You are v good instructor and v beautiful with beautiful backdrop but I would benefit SO much more by more camera work as you spoke because this is more of a lecture. I have no idea where to place the crochet hook after turning, too brief, and NO idea where to put the stitch marker, just don't know how to read the demo. I will slow it way down and your camera work is so close up and great, but no reinforcement to train the eye how to read where to put the hook and stitch marker for newbies like me. Many other teachers same thing, mark the first chain, last chain, what and where? Subscribed of course and glad to find out its not just me ending up with odd trapezoid and geometrical shape for my pillow cover LOL!!!
Great video thank you. My question is about wet blocking. After you wet block it and it straightens out your wonky edges, will the work return to its original crookedness if you throw it in the wash again? Or do you need to wet block it every time you wash it?
Great information , thank you. I find working in the round to be the most confusing when it comes to ending and beginning rounds especially when working double crochet projects. Any tips for that?
i am making a blanket and this is like my 3rd project but my edge is going diagonal it looks like it is going to turn into a triangle how doi fix that with out water
My mistake was when I started my blanket was that I was crocheting a lot looser and then now that I am more in the groove, I am making them tighter. Is there a way to fix this???😓
Difficult in viewing when you are stitching bc I need to see end result. Camera cuts off too quickly for me. I’m a beginner. 1 side straight, other side confused. So beginning, skip 1st s, at end s in previous row??? Thanks
Terry Lund Can I do increase stitches to bring the blanket back somewhat to where it was when I first started it since it started out great went in came out I’m just having a problem I’ve already Froggatt three times I’m so done I’m supposed to be a wedding present
I just started back a few months ago and am pretty proficient with rounds and projects that have a defined pattern, but my problem is with squares. I count my stitches and everything and it can all be correct but it slants. Like the rows are offset somehow. Any advise on how to fix it? I've unraveled my current project so many times trying to figure it out that I'm getting disheartened.
How do you straighten edges if you are doing a star stitch? Di you still add a sc or dc instead of the star? (It actually takes two rows to make one star). I tend to end up with shorter rows. 😂
How can I fix my wavey sides of my blanket after finished? Can I do a Border to even it out? What Border Stitch can I use. I'm thinking there is no way to fix my curvy blanket and should just throw it in trash. I hope I don't have to do that. Can you please help me? Thank you.
I made a mess of a baby blanket. The bottom, or beginning of the blanket is about 30 inches wide. I am half way done right now and when I finally took a good look at it, it looks like a flared skirt😡. Is there anyway I can fix it, besides, I’m using three different colors of yarn and can’t see ripping out all that yarn! Help!
I was making to Blanket for my Nephew two new born Babies they are twins girl and boy. And I'm very upset.because it started to get Narrow as I was going up . What can I do
HELP!! LOL I watch your videos all the time (new crocheter here). I made a scarf that alternates single crochet, double crochet. I wanted to apply the same pattern to a big blanket. Well...I have ripped it out a million times. :( On the double crochet rows I am not crocheting into the first stitch (like what you said here) and for the single crochet, I am....Am I still supposed to stitch into the chain at any point? I am confused since I am alternating single crochet with double I am so sad.
This is why I despise crochet even though I have been crocheting since 1968. I would rather knit even though it takes twice as long. Also WHY do these teachers have to talk SO DAMN MUCH? Get to the point.
Thank you very much that was so helpful. I have a problem keeping the right side of my projects straight. I think it has to do with starting or ending my rows, but the left side is always even. What am I doing wrong?
I’m not gone lie…I’m a beginner and thought I could do it without counting 🤣🤣🤣 now my blanket just getting smaller and smaller !
Lmao me too 😭😭
Many blanket is slowly turning into a skirt
Mine was just a triangle😭😭
Mine is just getting wider and wider 🤦♀️
It can become a triangular shawl!
This has to be the most frequently asked question I get from people learning to crochet. Now I will definitely direct them towards this video!
Thank you!! No matter how hard I try to count my stitches, I always end up with crooked edges at some point in my projects. This helped me a lot!

Thank you for helping an "old" crocheter that still has trouble keeping straight edges.
I used to decrease on some projects and was too lazy to unravel it because it was slightly visible but one day I decided to stop being lazy and started to fix my mistakes, my projects never looked better! I love your channel

I have struggled with this for years. This is the best explanation I've seen. Thank you so much!

Thank you so much for this video. I definitely need to be more aware of keeping the edges straight! I love that you show exactly where to put your hook both at the beginning of a row and at the end.
Thanks! I tend to crochet a little tight and my rows aren’t usually as tall as they should be so I’ll be trying your alternate method. 😀
I'm a beginner. This is recently my 3rd attempt. My edges are uneven I recently learned the turning stitch. That was a game changer. Hope to get this project done & even

This got to be one of the best and most useful videos I've ever seen, THANK YOU 👍
Wow 😄 Thank you so much!
Yes, I agree and sharing.
This video was so good! I finally know what it means when it countsnor not as a sticht. Very good video!
This was SO HELPFUL!! I keep ending up with smaller rows and now I understand why. Thank you 💜
Thank you so much for this video. I’m just learning how to crochet and the tips on your video were very helpful. 😊

Really helpful. Did crochet years ago and taking it up again. Lovely to have new tips!
Glad it was helpful!

Happy to help, Liz! 💙

Brittany you are AWESOME!! Super helpful video, thank you 😊

Hello, Thanks for your tutorial. Once I had unintentionally decreased the number of stiches, how can I add them back?
ThANK YOU! Iam a knitter, but I have tried to learn how to crochet. I just can't wrap my head around the turning stitches and how to keep the edges straight. I am going to try again. Your explanation was very helpful, but I know I'm going to run into this issue again! Any more advice?
i hate being asked to subscribe before i've even seen the content, it's a drag, i'd rather be asked at the end, if i've enjoyed the video
This was really helpful! I have a question about crochet in the round. In your opinion, what is the best way to change colors without getting a strange uneven jog when you switch yarns? Thanks!
I'm still a beginner, but I would definitely try this:
ruclips.net/video/15hqoR0KJHA/видео.html
Thats awesome.. but is there a way to fix a project already started?
these are great tips! thankyou so much! 😊
So helpful! my next blanket Project will not have wonky edges …i am determined!🙂
Very helpful.
Thank you so much. This is going to help me
Thanks, hopefully this will help!
Any suggestions on how to exchange knit stitches into crochet stitches?

I struggle with doing a single crochet around uneven sides ugh11 thank You for this video!Very helpful
Can I ask you which yarn you're using in the examples? It's lovely!
I’m am an absolute beginner currently crocheting a chunky blanket with Bernat blanket yarn. It is curling, however my edges don’t look all that off. Will adding a border, or blocking the blanket straighten out & correct the curling problem.
Your video is very helpful. Can you tell us how we work the junctions when we work in a circle ;
Can you do a video on how to SC around a border mine always comes out wonky I have trouble on the sides where there isn't stitches
That's a great idea! Thank you for the suggestion 😊
What borders are best to cover up messy boarders
Can you explain to me the current stitch/loop you’re working in at the beginning of a row? I think I always get an extra stitch because I crochet into the same loop that my hook is in.
Light...bulb...!! Thank you!

Your awesome 💕
Because of how annoyed I get with crocheting more flat stuff because of the crooked edges Is one of the reasons why i find making amigurumi easier.
Could one end of a blanket be straight and the other be short ? That’s my problem.
I just started back a few months ago and am pretty proficient with rounds and projects that have a defined pattern, but my problem is with squares. I have frogged the first 6” of my blanket so many times I’m turning green.
If your border is waive would it hide this if you end thus border with a waive shell type border?
Awesome

I'm working on a blanket and the I keep getting off my one stitch. I have been inc a stitch to correct. Is this a bad thing?
Güzel olmuş ❤️
I've got big problems with a crochet throw...it's lopsided. HELP!
HELP!! LOL I watch your videos all the time (new crocheter here). I made a scarf that alternates single crochet, double crochet. I wanted to apply the same pattern to a big blanket. Ma’am the damage is done, how do I fix it without undoing the whole project?
I've thrown in an increase or decrease on a project rather than frog!
How about both, caving and going out
Yeah as you're saying my edges are so crooked
I’m making a blanket for niece Riley and the edges are crooked and it’s driving me crazy
My biggest problems is my edges one side go to the left and the other go on the right. I’m so tired of ripping Plz help
I like the stitch markers but I still have a hard time where to put them
SAME
Be great if you showed it instead of talking about it im. More watch and learn talking doesn't help me I need to see how
Please show seeing is believing your rambling slow down please😢
Too much talking just please start teaching
My God she has way too many unnecessary words. A form of narcissism. Love to hear themselves talk and see themselves on camera. 🙄
This is why I despise crochet even though I have been crocheting since 1968. I would rather knit even though it takes twice as long. Also WHY do these teachers have to talk SO DAMN MUCH? Get to the point.
you need to stop using the hand signs
Omg. I don't care about any of this. Just how to fix it.
Thank you very much that was so helpful. I have a problem keeping the right side of my projects straight. I think it has to do with starting or ending my rows, but the left side is always even. What am I doing wrong?
thank you SO MUCH
