    I think my problem is understanding where to crochet the last stitch....if that makes any sense? I'm great at making baby hats, little sandals etc..but when it comes to making blankets, it always ends up wider or shorter! The video gave me some great tips. Thank you!

      I just began and i was told to use "markers" to help me with the last stitch. I didnt use them! until I was half way done, and my blanket had widen! Ah!

    You are a Godsend! I repeated the first 5 rounds of a pattern I'm working on over ten times and for the life of me could not figure out why the stitch counts were always increasing by 1. Thank you so much! Your tutorial is fantastic!

    I am so thankful that I came across your video. I am a beginner. I love this art but do find tension difficult. I also had the problem with a piece getting larger and out of shape. The tip about only crocheting into the first stitch when it is a chain stitch in invaluable to me. I finally get it. I thought you did that ALL the time. Thanks again for a great video. I can do this!

    I just wanted to say thank you! I made a HUGE blanket about the size of two queen beds pushed together and had this horrible problem. I stopped about 9 skeins in. Will eventually continue it- however I paused that to make a little comforter for my daughters mini-crib and it was so wide I had to unravel over half the work. Loose stitches/tight chain! Thank you so much! Now my daughter will have a beautiful blanket!

I haven't watched one of these very helpful and well-done tip videos in years but I have to say it's so easy to get into bad habits and thanks to videos like these it's so easy to find our way back into good habits. Great video! All beginners should watch similar videos before going mad or giving up this beautiful, artistic craft. And all tutorials should include specific, basic tips per tutorial and/or specific design. Sloppy or incomplete tutorials are truly a nuisance and bothersome, and surely no one here wants to waste time practicing and undoing half-hour’s worth of crocheting because they messed up one stitch or one row somewhere due to poor instructions. I guess bad tutorials goes hand-in-hand with “free tutorials”. I think a good tip is taking notes while crocheting as a beginner and writing any question that comes along from omitted instructions, then searching for specific answers/tutorials.

    Thanks! People are surprised that my hats look so great but, when they ask me to make them a matching scarf, I have to admit that I have not been able to master that. I honestly put it on the back burner and focused on working on round projects but it’s getting time to learn it bc I’m becoming a one show pony, lol.

    Thank you, your video was very helpful! I'm a beginner and have been experiencing that loose tension problem on my first and current project, and I only really noticed it a little later.
    I'm working on a queen/king-sized blanket, and though I am only around 18 rows in, the tension on the newer rows have become more loose compared to the foundation and first few rows. Is there a way to fix that without unraveling the project? It's 340 stiches per row.

    • @CrochetGuru
      @CrochetGuru  8 лет назад +1

      Hi Lexie, Thanks for your comment. The only thing I can recommend about the hook sizes and yarn sizes is to go and look at what each yarn label recommends. Every yarn comes with a label that tells you which hook to use... I hope that helps!

    Very helpful. I am a self-taught new crocheter. I know my problem is starting in the wrong stitches of the new rows. Now that I know what causes it, I will be conscious of it. But, since most of the afghan is done, is there a fix, besides ripping it out? I only noticed it when I actually folded it instead of just putting it in a pile. :(
