Cool! ❤️ I never knew I already do all of these! But they are great! I also store my finished piece in large zip lock bags, with a cut up (outdoors scent) dryer sheet! When ever someone receives the piece, they always comment on how wonderful it smells! I also purchase extra knitting need protective caps, I put them on my key ring set of crochet hooks. Yes, my key ring has 3 crochet hooks, Incase I need one in an emergency! I tag every piece when finished with the measurements and care instructions, as well as it’s yarn type.
I've been crocheting for about 12 years and the tip to keep your chain from twisting when working in the round was fantastic! Wished I would have know this YEARS ago! That's a fantastic tip!
Very true, I'm 48 and been crocheting sense I was 10yrs old. This day I still learn different stitches and tricks to crocheting. I will keep learning more as long as I'm crocheting. Cathy
Loved the crochet tips on not twisting the chain. the tips for covering the scissors and the pencil grips for the crochet hooks. Your videos are easy to follow and I have learned a lot. Thank you
Putting projects into bags and labeling them is such a fantastic idea! I do it for small things like flowers and bows but never thought to do it with my bigger projects 🤦♀️ good thing I have you 💙 Also I'll save my ends that are too small for small projects in a bag to use for stuffing in future projects. 🙂
I began using paper clips when I needed to secure my work and there was one on the table next to me. I love the idea of putting needle protectors on scissors, keeps them from going through my project bad. And the pencil grips- what a great idea!
Great tips, especially the one for protecting the points of our scissors. I even have some of these and didn't even think about it, just for my knitting needles. Thank you for sharing.
I love the the tippers for the needles and scissors now I won’t have to worry about them poking holes in my bag. And the idea about adjusting the the loops on the chain is genius thank you
I like to use wooden needles and hooks, but there's almost always a splinter...when i get new needles or hooks, i put a couple coats of clear nail polish to protect my hands and my workfrom splinters
thank you for sharing your faves with us - these are all great tips, even for those of us with more "yardage" than others! 🤗 i use the REALLY XXL 'zip' bags to store my leftover balled up yarn bits, by yarn type: acrylic in one, cotton in another, etc. this one storage method has made it so much easier to put 'scrap' projects together!! hope this helps someone! 🌼
I wonder if people accidentally hit the thumbs down button and don't realize that they're actually doing it. 🤷🏼♀️ Because there is absolutely no reason that anyone could dislike this video. 💕
I love this video I recently bought a crochet kit with all kind of instruments in it. I didn’t know what the barrel was that counted and I now know it’s a stitch counter thank you so much for explaining all the tools in a crochet kit.
I used the "Pill Bottle" tip for storing my yarn needles...and it was fantastic! It saved me from accidental injuries as well as keeping them in one place. Oh, and I also love the SUSAN BATES Finishing Needles; they are very easy to use and saves me the hassle of trying to thread my yarn through the needle's eye! 💗
A few of my pill bottles (and a friend gave me two of hers) are tall enough to hold crochet hooks and the lid has a push-down release. And then I started to crochet the crochet hook holder and love it, too.
Thank you Donna for all you do and present to us out here. Thank you for your helpful tips and many projects you took your time to teach me. You popped up in front of me when I started and I never let you go, so to say. Thank you for your unselfish teaching. Happy crocheting to you, and me :)
My favorite tip is how to insure your yarn from twisting! Pretty much everything else I already do. But the yarn twist tip is sheer Genius! Thank You Donna🌹🤗
I have a good "trick" for when say your to chain 50 & the do dbls across your foundation chain but you get to the end & realize you only have 48 & ur short 2. Well instead of taking it apart.. Always start out with a tail that's at least 3-4in, that 1st row after the foundation row, you always end at that tail. So if you are short 2-3 on ur foundation chain, just that tail to add x amount of chains to add to ir foundation, then continue your row of dbls, you won't even notice a difference..
@@FireballtheRUclipsr lololoo yes, it happens to me too!! I hâte counting but I push myselfto do it coz and use the stitch counters coz I love crochet so much!
Gosh #9 is so smart and simple! Thank you for sharing it. While crocheting a hat once I'd already gone a few rounds before realizing I'd twisted the chain! No more of that for me. Once again, thanks for the tips, all of them. You are a blessing to crochet
I baked the polymer clay on a few of my crochet hooks. It was easy to do, and they are my favorite. I did it a few years ago, and they have held up well. I plan to do a few more. Love your channel!
4:18 Oh gosh, I love those needles! They're mostly aimed at grabbing and pulling in really short tails on projects, where a normal needle may not do the job. So great for amigurumi!
Thank you very much. My name is Maryam from Egypt. I love your channel, but I did not understand it. Most of you both were very pleased that you translated this Arabic.
excellent tips. I always struggle with not doing too many chains, keeping it straight for starting round projects and I'm always worried about my cats hurting themselves on my scissors. thanks. always love your vids.
I love #10 . This will save me a lot of stress when I start a project that calls 251 chain stitches. Also #9 will be a life saver. My chain is always twisting. Now I know how to prevent this. Thank you so much for sharing your bits of wisdom Donna.
I believe you are the only person that did a crochet tips and tricks on RUclips. Congratulations you have my total respect and honor to follow you. God bless you to have made such a smart and helpful video. Keep up the great work. Loving you from Chicago Illinois 😍❤️😊😉🌹😁
Just discovered you and am loving your videos. They are professional quality videos. Your instruction is precise, your voice is clear and cadence on point. You have many of the stitch patterns that I cannot find easily in easy-to-follow videos of this quality. That's how I found you. I was looking for instruction for Catherines Wheel stitch, and there you were. Now I am a subscriber. Keep up the good work!
Thank you for your tips. When I crochet, I hate when a pattern asks to crochet in a slip stitch. I usually get a smaller crochet hook to get the yarn through both loops and finish with the crochet hook I was originally using. I make amigurumi dolls and what I like to do is attach all the body parts to hide all the knots inside the body before I add the head and double or triple sew said body parts and head if they are meant for children. I've only crochet for 4 years and am glad that I learned a couple of tips from your video.
Great suggestions Donna! I love the idea of the paper clip when leaving a project! My other favorite is the clear plastic bag with the labels to remind you of the project:) Also nice to see that you use a dab of glue on your yarn ends!
I loved all of your tips. I've been crocheting for sometime now, but I'm always willing to learn something new! This Christmas I am giving one of my granddaughters a crochet starter kit that I have put together. I'm going to write down some of your tips and tricks in the little book I am going to make for her. I also subscribed to your channel!! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!! 😊😊🎄🎆🎄🎆😊😊
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR CHANNEL!!!! I have watched your videos before, but just subscribed today. I have learned so much about fun and easy tricks for crocheting because of your video! I just started a few years ago and have learned by watching your videos and others. I love the polymer clay cover idea! I am going to try it out on some of my needles, as my fingers do get sore after awhile. I am sure it will help. I also love crocheting granny squares and doilies, so the trick on non twisted rounds will really help! Thank you so much - your videos are very easy to follow and you are a great teacher!!
I really appreciate the tip for putting the first chain on the hook to keep from twisting your chain. Notice how many found that simple trick so helpful? My tip contribution: What if you get to the end and find you are short a couple of stitches? Make a foundation stitch one size up from the row you are making, so if you are making single st's, go up to half double. For half double go up to double etc.You need to allow for the chain st row too. If you were not using the back hump of the chain, undo the last stitch and re-do using the back hump. Then YO and go into the two threads left over on the chain and start your foundation stitch.
Wow. My 1st time seeing u ! I learned just the basics 27 yrs ago. I really want to start now. I bought my 1st skein & a hook. Yayyy. I'm excited to get started. I will buy what I absolutely need when I can. Love seeing the needles. I haven't bought them yet or stitch markers. I will. Very soon. Unfortunately I'm on disability now for few yrs. I love these tips Donna. #9 is my favorite. I’m working on a beaded chain wrap necklace and forgot to start it this way. Luckily I didn’t get far before I remembered this tip vid. So glad it’s always here to go back to. Thanks for all you do for the crochet community.
hi I'm a boy name Isaiah I crochet and the stitch holder help me with a beanie I made.so thank for the videos and I have a question could you make some videos project for kids that know how to crochet. that would be helpful, since I'm going up north.ps your videos are great. also I forgot I'm am 11 years old turning 12 years old.
Good job Isaiah! Keep at it. It's great fun to crochet and I bet a lot of kids your age don't know how to crochet! I learned when I was 7 and I'm 52 now!
I think the tip that helped me the most was how to keep a chain in the round straight. I have had so many problems with that that I was skipping those projects that started that way. Now I am going to go back and try again. Thank you!!!!!
Thank you so much for all these precious tips. My favourite is the one with the chain when crocheting in the round. "How come I didn't think about this!" I told myself. Will give a try to embellishing my metal crochet with clay... Yours are beautiful!
I saw this video when it first came out, I never realized how much these little tricks changed my Crojo! Especially trying out all the different Crochet hooks! But, after sampling many, Many, MANY other designs I ended up right back at home with my Ancient Hero crochet hooks 😃
I love everything that comes from you, Naztazia. You are very good at teaching. You talk clearly n slow, n I really learn many things from you. Regards n many thanks for your time helping us. Cristy
Love these ideas. #9 is probably my favorite. But I have a question about #6 the rain repellent. How well would it work on kids mittens. I'd love to make some but don't because mittens get so wet very fast when their out outside playing in the snow. I love your polymer clay handles. They're really pretty. I haven't gotten into clay yet, I like to make jewelry as well as crochet. So I used my daughters rainbow loom elastics to make my own comfy handles. One of my biggest problems is keeping my tension. If I set a project down for a day or more and come back my tension is way off. Any suggestions or just keep practicing?
Hi! I've never tried it on kids mittens mostly because I get a little bit nervous with chemicals on my kids stuff. But they do have a ScotchGard brand spray that many of the store-bought mittens already have on them, so that would probably be a better choice. That's normal for your tension to change after resting for a day or two. My tension, if I'm not careful about it, definitely changes depending upon my stress level. It's mostly just a practicing thing and an adjusting-as-you-go thing.
As far as changing tension. Have some scrap yarn of the same size/type as your working project yarn. Use the same hook and begin by crocheting a few minutes with the scrap yarn to loosen up and relax your hands & fingers. This also helps calm you before continuing with your project. Works for me.
so many good tips: The one about keeping the chains from turning, The one about putting knitting needle tips on sharp scissors, The row counter on hooks. Great video. Thanks..
Hi Donna! One more thing, you have a lovely pair of fingerless gloves pictured; but I can't find the pattern. Would you happen to have it on your page? Thank You🌹

I would like to know where I can get the flexible large eye needle. This would be very handy for me, as I have trouble seeing the eye in standard needles, due to medication. Thank you for helping.
You don't need to use anything to keep your work from being unraveled by small *helpers.* Just pull the loop out a bit and tie the loop (both strands/sides of the loop held together) to the working yarn. Just a single knot, which can be easily undone when you're ready to continue working.
I've always just pulled the loop out a bit then tied a loose knot in the loop. It's easy to untie and tighten the loop back up when ready to work again.
#9 was my favorite as well. I have never seen that before. I avoid long chain patterns that I have to join as 90% of time I get them twisted. Now I can broaden my choices. Thanks for this & all your videos.
It's for everyone.. Anyone who enjoys it. Men are welcome as well. It's very useful for hand coordination & circulation as well as anxiety & stress management..
Fantastic Ideas! Thank you. For #7 I pull the loop long and just tie it once or do slip knot with the other end of the yarn . I've had many rowed pulled out by kids, dogs, and cats before I started doing the tie thing. Love your alternatives.
I've been crocheting for about 55 years. Forty years ago paper clips weren't readily available in my small town so I started using bobby pins for place markers. Haven't found anything better in all that time.
Number #9 is great! My tip is that I always add a few extra on the beginning chain (in case I miscounted). Then when I reach the end of the first row I know I'll have enough and can easily undo any extras I didn't need.
Wonderful suggestions, thank you so much. For #5 I pull up ghetto loop and tie it to the yarn on the other side of the stitch. Have had many rows pulled out by little kids running around before I started doing this. Also won't catch in the work or get lost. Two seconds to tie a knot. I also seem to have many projects started but not as many hooks. Go back to something and don't know hook I was using. I've started using a stitch marker with note of hook size pined to work. Love using baggies too.
With the paperclip hack, MY CLASS. I'm the only one who can crochet, and when I bring it in, it SOMEHOW gets into the hands of the other children, and my work is diminished to a slipknot. Thank you for the tip!

Glad it was helpful!
I love your tip about keeping the chair straight when making a circle!
I used the "Pill Bottle" tip for storing my yarn needles...and it was fantastic! It saved me from accidental injuries as well as keeping them in one place. A few of my pill bottles (and a friend gave me two of hers) are tall enough to hold crochet hooks and the lid has a push-down release. And then I started to crochet the crochet hook holder and love it, too.
I added alphabet beads to the saftey pin style stitch markers. The letter size of the hook being used for an item is easily available.
Elizabeth Thompson , that's an awesome idea!!! My needles often get separated from my project, and this will solve the guessing game. 👍😃
Sadly my hooks only have numbers no letters

EXCELLENT!!!
Wow, thanks for all the hints, i can’t think of how many times I could have used these in the past.
Thank You🌹
Thanks, these tips make a world of difference.

I like to wash my hooks and needles after every project to keep them smooth to glide through the yarn; seems silly but I find it works :)
Tip 9 is a life saver. You are great! Thanks for sharing your wonderful experience
yes great tips
Thanks so much!
Loved the idea of knitting needle caps for scissors.
I would like to know where I can get the flexible large eye needle. This would be very handy for me, as I have trouble seeing the eye in standard needles, due to medication. Thank you for helping.
Hello! Thelarge eye needles are made by Susan Bates. I found them in my Joann Fabrics and Michaels craft stores.
Are they available in the UK? I haven't seen them here. Thanks.
morevaseret try deramores. That's an online store based out of the uk
I believe I saw them at Hobby Lobby.
Hi I just saw them on Amazon around £5
Thank you for all of your tips, you have helped me become a better and more confident crocheter.

All your tips were great especially using caps for protecting the tips of scissors ✂.
Thanks for this & all your videos.
hi I am man l love crochet and I really like to learn it I need your device is that just for womans or for all man's and woman's
It's for everyone.. Anyone who enjoys it. Men are welcome as well. It's very useful for hand coordination & circulation as well as anxiety & stress management..
There are many men who crochet!
My grandfather crocheted- men are definitely welcome
Fantastic Ideas! Thank you. For #7 I pull the loop long and just tie it once or do slip knot with the other end of the yarn . I've had many rowed pulled out by kids, dogs, and cats before I started doing the tie thing. Love your alternatives.
I use bobby pins for place markers
Staci McLaughlin what a great idea!
Awesome tip!
I've been crocheting for about 55 years. Forty years ago paper clips weren't readily available in my small town so I started using bobby pins for place markers. Haven't found anything better in all that time.
Pencil grips!!!!! Great Tip!!!!! thank you so much for this one!
OMG!!! finally I can crochet without it twisting!!! thanks!! life saver!!!
Awesome! Glad the video could help!
I also found this tip a keeper!
I especially liked the tips related to having littles in the house! Thanks.
Number #9 is great! My tip is that I always add a few extra on the beginning chain (in case I miscounted). Then when I reach the end of the first row I know I'll have enough and can easily undo any extras I didn't need.
Great tip!
I love #5! I use paperclips for my stitch markers and stitch holders all the time.
With the paperclip hack, MY CLASS. I'm the only one who can crochet, and when I bring it in, it SOMEHOW gets into the hands of the other children, and my work is diminished to a slipknot. Thank you for the tip!
# 9 best tip ever!! thank you so much! i love learning new things. and i've been crocheting for 50 years
