- May 9, 2014: Taproot Theater - Matt Cameron of Soundgarden (and Pearl Jam) visits Seattle School of Rock to talk to the kids and jam out with the House Band!
Luke, Gavin, Miranda, Dylan, and Matt Cameron
(and Ben who got displaced by Matt)
• School of Rock House B...
Hey kids, what did you do at school today?
Oh not much, just played fucking Spoonman with Matt Cameron.
+Taylor Alley haha that's awesome! :D
Taylor Alley: Wasnt quite like that when I was in school - a freakin recorder flute was all I got to play....
Taylor Alley hahahahah...
😂😂
and I learened to play the triangle with some nurdy teacher :(
It's funny how Matt doesn't look like a musician at all, but in fact he is one of the greatest drummers ever
What does a musician look like?
like Baba ghanoush on a warm meridian sunday
I know what you mean. He dresses like a regular dad.
Martin Kriletich i
Martin Kriletich looks dont mean shit man haha obviously you never did shows with other bands or if you have you're a poser for thinking this way lol
So kids... Here's someone who actually deserves to be in Rock n' Hall of Fame
And he did it, twice!
@@daddyderek425 only once so far! Though Soundgarden are nominated this year, so I'm crossing my fingers
@@Ariel_thenotsolittlemermaid same here, Soundgarden is one of my favorites they deserve it. And thanks for the correction I thought they were already in
@@daddyderek425 i think it to.
mistake...
I love the look on matts face when the bassist just nails that breakdown
The kids sound great and really nail this song. Matt is such a class act as he becomes part of the band for this song. Love it!
Too True!😛😛😛😛👍
I like how Matt plays very simple fills ( by his standards)
and counts down consistently throughout the song so they dont get lost.. Everyone sounded awesome !!
Yes spot on. Playing time in the hats and things like that Matt had nothing to prove so he played the parts that were going to be most likely to succeed with the band. I thought the kit might sound terrible but that didn't happen. Great drummers are selfless.
@@vk3fbab The crash on Matt’s left was too bright for me. Everything else was actually pretty good
I got very emotional watching this. The world needs more female rock singers, Miranda. Keep it at it.
Thank you so much for the comment. Knowing that I can touch and inspire people with my music makes it all worth it! If you haven't already, please follow me on my Facebook page, there's lot of big things coming up!
I just saw this. Awesome job. My favorite band and you did great. I just wished you had that backing vocalist so you didn't have to cut so quick to the backing. Great job
@@mirandakitchmusic or inspire with Chris's music
@@mirandakitchmusic hey man, you had some power in your voice all those years ago. Just checked you out doing "Crazy on you" and that was great, too. Hope you're still making music. Don't know if you ever dabbled with some Alice in Chains, but you'd probably kill an AiC cover like "Love Hate Love" or "Would?" Could see you being good in a doom/sludge project, though that would be completely different stylistically.
Be good. If you see this comment and have a link to your Facebook, share it. I'll follow.
Matt Cameron-the human metronome. I wonder if those kids realize how lucky they were to play with him. Also, that was pretty cool move by Matt to play with them. If they don't appreciate it now, they will when they're older.
drums could use a little work
That was obviously a joke.
brilliant
Hahaha just like: hey Matt, we all know you're fucking awesome, but now let the children shine...
You so sillly
What are you a Pearl Jam fan? /s
"I'd like to introduce Matt Cameron" *crickets*
I know right??? ... so spoiled
Ash Mofo a legend playing at your school? I would also be speechless.
I think the crickets were the result of clueless parents who had no clue one of the best modern rock drummers ever was in their presence.
One of the greatest drummers of all time gets introduced*
The Audience: ..... whoo...yea...
Can’t believe such a poor enthusiasm.
Best video I've seem in years. I actually smiled throughout the entire performance. The singer wailed, the bassist and guitarists jammed and the drummer will get there with a few more lessons. LOL!! JK!! Simply AWESOME!!
Love the little bass player, did a great job.
Big Props to Matt for giving some back to the kids .... Well done brother you just went +1 in my book
I saw Soundgarden back in 1996 in Atlanta, and I gotta tell Ya, Chris Cornell looks way taller in person.
Frmr Christian underrated comment :(
Epic hair though still
luckiest children.. the future is bright 🔆... thank God there is hope for rock music.. ameen
The drum solo at 4:07 is a little reminder about how Awesome Matt is! A lot of Soundgarden songs rely on his driving beat - especially Burden in My Hand.
Long live the The Seattle School of Rock! The future is in safe hands!
The singer is ace!
Emma Thomas Yes, but they took off a lot of her effort by not giving her enough volume on her mic.. What happened there??
She was obviously pretty good, but we can barely hear her voice! 😨
Thanks for the compliments everyone! I'll be going on AllStars tour soon, so if you like and follow my facebook page, hopefully you'll be able to hear me better! facebook.com/mirandakitch
singer was great. chris' stuff is hard to sing. that was great.
aggroed Even harder when you have to strain yourself to compensate for a freaking mic with no volume! 😡
Her voice is great, but you can hardly hear it!....Who is this girl anyway?...you can tell she was very excited to sing with him...And, don't you guys get me wrong here...he's a great drummer, and he really nailed it..with accolades...And I think it's wonderful he's doing this with these kids, but...This girl wouldn't even get a hug from him at the end?...Or at least a hand shake?..Come on, man...she deserved it...
I'm sure Chris would agree... ☺
Thank you! I'm the singer and I've grown alot since this performance. Please like and follow my facebook page for what I'm currently up to! facebook.com/mirandakitch
school of rock has some talented people. my profile pic is me from my second show with them
wish i could be with allstars
@@mirandakitchpanich2042 you did great.. really came on strong with the belts towards the end!! Epic song
they should have introduced him as Matt cameron from Soundgarden they are so lucky
pearl jams better
@@belugaman6772 nice try
I really dig watching kids who's voices haven't even changed yet rockin hard! Makes me feel like the future is good!
Great how Cameron shows those kids such respect by coming out and giving his best -but without trying to take over, what a classy dude ! Of course we're all waiting for the drum solo, aren't we. What a treat!
Matt cameron is in top 5 drummers of all time imo/ u kids really rock, keep it up 👍
What a great guy to do this for the kids! Everyone was awesome!
She’s got such a good voice
the kid on the drums looks old
🤣🤣🤣
Drummers got a deep voice for a kid and a lot bigger than the other kids
Must be a mature student
Lol
Jack staring Robin Williams
Imagine being the bass player and Matt Cameron gives you the nod to come in. Awesome.
DAMM WHAT HAPPENED TO THE REAL SOUNDGARDEN? :)
THEY ALL TURNED INTO LITTLE KIDS
HOW CUTE :) MATT FITS IN JUST FINE
If I was that bassist 6 years ago when I was 14, I could've died happy!
Goosebumps, it is so amazing how good this is for a school performance
Thanks! I'm the singer on this song and I love all the opportunities I've had with School of Rock! I'll be going on tour with AllStars this summer, if you'd like to follow along and see other awesome School of Rock kids, please like and follow my facebook facebook.com/mirandakitch
THIS IS THE GREATEST VIDEO EVER! MATT CAMERON IS THE BEST DRUMMER OF ALL TIME! GOAT! THIS BAND EVEN DOES A FANTASTIC JOB OF BRINGING THAT HEAVY SOUNDGARDEN SOUND. THE LEAD HITS ALL OF CORNELL'S HIGH NOTES. VERY GOOD. THIS IS THE BEST VIDEO EVER POSTED ALL TIME! I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS HAPPENED AND I WISH I WAS THERE!
I'M NOT YELLING. THIS IS LEGIT.
Mr.Cornell would be proud! RIP good sir :(
Pretty sick performance by the kids, oh and Mat haha
The gentleman musician. Was very much guiding and being helpful to the kids during the song. Nice job kids!!
Matt Cameron is such a badass!
Matt is one of the greats to come out of the late 80s/90s. No ego what so ever. He’s the fucking man and a badass. Also the singing was incredible.
these kids were the coolest i've ever seen
These guys are excellent !! ...Keeping up with Matt easily. That singer is going places !!! Great voice !!
Amazing job. That's not an easy song. Your timing was outstanding. What a cool thing for Matt Cameron to do.
It seems like kids are becoming proficient musicians at younger ages.
I'm the singer and have been part of School of Rock for 5 years now and there are some AMAZING musicians here! I'll be going on the AllStars tour soon. You can like and follow my facebook page facebook.com/mirandkitch to see the awesome music we'll be playing!
I had already seen a lots of cover..but Cameron really different touch.. because he is the man!!
Even though he's playing down.....how fuckin' tight is MC's rythmn. Very jealous of those kids, hope they know how lucky they are.
She has an awesome voice
Thank you!! I've grown alot since this show. I'd appreciate a like and follow on my facebook page facebook.com/mirandakitch . I'll be going on tour with the AllStars group this summer!
That scream from 3:47 was epic!
🔥🔥🔥
So fucking good
Incredible. The vocals were amazing and the band did such a great job of supporting. Well done to all!
I watched this before reading the description. Now I love it even more.
Jesus Christ...imagine being that young bass young man playing bass and that breakdown...epic
Pure joy to watch this, Matt is so cool. The band played this brilliantly and the singer was absolutely amazing! She’s got real talent that shines
Just saw this. That was amazing! 10 years ago. I wonder where these kids are now? I hope that inspiration speared them on to great things! bravo!!
The bassist, Gavin, is a friend of mine, actually! He works as an engineer now.
Absolutely awesome! Actually brought happytears in my old eyes, good to see seattle is still producing. Great stuff all of you, wouldve love to hear that guitar solo a bit more better, sounded like he really nailed it. And Cornell`s voice is holy to me, but this gal aint too bad! Big highfive to these guys!
Ok, will be lookin forward to january then, shame I can`t see that tribute live as I`m from another continent, hope to see it recorded or maybe streamed? And with that voice that young, think you don`t have to worry about that making proud-thing =)
That was awesome of him and the all sounded amazing ... a feeling they’ll never forget ever
Best drummer in the world!
+Soundtallica in Chains HAHAHA!! Thanks for the laugh! :)
If he had said "Matt Cameron is a great drummer" or "Matt Cameron is one of the best in the world" that is fine. But no, I read "Best drummer in the world!". I enjoyed the laughter it invoked.
The people trying to defend look even worse. hahaha. Thanks once again for the laugh.
+Aditya Tyagi Thats Like your opinion man.... Matt cameron isn't my top drummer, but whose to tell this guy that hes wrong? music is all opinion... plus I dont really know any drummer that has to deal with fucked up time signatures as often as matt, and he makes it sound natural every time.
+Soundtallica in Chains not quite my tempo
1. Mitch Mitchell
2. Ian Paice
3. Bill Ward
4. John Henry Bonham
5. Dave Grohl
If I were them, I would’ve gone crazy with this guest. Geez, best drummer ever.
Gives you an idea of how high Chris Cornell was singing. This young girl sounds amazing in that range! She really killed it. Honestly everybody was good. Fun to see things like this happen every once in a while!
Thanks for your Time and sharing.
Dude has been a class act all his life!
Its so hard to listen to this now in 2021...
Matt looks like he’s playing on a tiny toy drum set but he’s still making this song rock even so, and making it sound right down to every timing.
Amazing performance, wow!!
Very cool, reminds me just how infectious Kim Thayil's riffs are.
naccibobacci
This is Cornell's riff......most of Soundgarden's music was written by Chris
This was indeed Chris's riff, complimented by a ripping Kim solo, well-fitting back-up vocals, and outstanding performances from entire band. However, contrary to one commenter above, Soundgarden were a BAND! They wrote in many different configurations of 1, 2's, 3's, and at least once or twice per album, all four collaboratively, in a way few great bands have done since the Beatles.
Look at the credits in the liner notes of each record, or just check the band wikipedia - they were hardly "the Chris Cornell show". Not a single member was unimportant or replaceable, and all are incredible idiosyncratic writers with powerful, mesmerizing stage presence - passionate performers.
vocalist killed it
Thank you! Hope you are following me on Facebook (facebook.com/MirandaKitch), I've got some new things coming up for 2020
It's just impossible not to crack a smile watching this video.
I would have cried happy tears if I were one of those kids. What a treat!!
This is so great -- those kids just kill it. What a treat to have one of the best rock drummers on the planet play with you.
I really didn't expect to be this impressed. Loaded the video to watch Matt play and the kids stole my attention. I wish I was able to do that when I was still in my teens.
great to see the kids growing in confidence and matt guiding them so nicely
Amazing, this really rocked !
Our future is amazing!
Siapa nih
Even playing with non professional musicians he is amazing. Best rock drummer out there currently. I have that DK T-shirt.
love u brother...........( from all the drummers in the world)

So awesome.
I love the singer, maybe she’s not Chris but she sounds good and powerful
That is awesome! It is good to see guys that have made it big come and show support to up and comers! The song sounded great too!
Matt Cameron is a savage behind the kit 🤘🏻🥁

How cool is that !!!
So talented kids hope they keep on with their dream and make it grand out there, the world needs more good musicians and music of course.
This is SOOOO awesome!!!!!
I'm a drummer and I've taken the time to learn spoonman. Matt definitely simplified his part for the kids. very cool!
A los 27 que no les gusto esta version deben ser musicos fracasados son niños en etapa de desarollo en el rock me gusto mucho beautifullllll....hermoza version con un grossooo cameron los felicito 🇦🇷genios
Great all the way around drums guitar and vocals on point! I'd pay to see this!

Nice job guys and girl! Excellent.
Singer pulls it off!! Nice
Thanks! This was from a long time ago. Please check out my Facebook page (facebook.com/MirandaKitch) to keep up with my current work!
I love that bass playing kid! Total star!
Sound kindergarden lol. They did an outstanding job on this song. I seen soundgarden when they they opened for guns and Rose's back in 1990. They were promoting their bad motor finger album
Outstanding, well done.
Wow, those little rascals really rocked! Hats off to them. Must've been awesome to play this one with Matt :)
Excellent 👍
What a great voice. Keep that up girl!
