THANK YOU! Been trying to find a good honeycomb video tutorial for months. I have seen pictures of them tied but I was confused on the process. This is just great
You’re very welcome and it’s my pleasure. I’ve had others ask me and say the same thing about no other good tutorials online so I wanted to make one. I’ll be doing a full in depth tutorial sometime soon on one of my step by step videos as well😊💜
It took me a really long time to understand it, yet I did in the end get how to wrap and tie the honeycomb. It was just so different from how I had tied things, up to now. Thanks for the informative vid!!
🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝 Psychedelic honeycomb❗ Absolutely wicked cool. Never seen this pattern/fold before. Love the sharp definitions of the 🍯 honeycomb pattern. It's so wild. I love it!
This is just absolutely amazing I could imagine the shirt with amethyst maybe like it emerald green and some like lighter purple with an akatsuki logo on it
That came out great. I've tried to make a honeycomb many times, but never get it. When I pull it tight, it makes more of a pie wedge shape and it makes a chain link look, but not the tight honeycomb. I wish I could show you pictures and see if you can tell me what I'm doing wrong. I'm making some tapestries tomorrow, so I'll be brushing up on some of your videos. Thanks for what you do
You can always message me on Facebook or Instagram and I can try to help but I’m still practicing as well. Mine are not as great as I’d like them to be ☺️💜
How much dye do you put on each side? How do you know when you have enough, especially when you do two different color sides like this? Thank you for you lovely work. I enjoy every piece of it I see. Keep up the good work.
Thank you so much Tammy! So I use the finger method in which I press down on the dye and make sure it puddles just a little bit. If not I add a little more but if so then I add a little at a time. I hope this helps😊💙
I totally wish i could see what you are doing in your part where you play it regular speed, ive tried to follow but cannot sadly. Maybe you will make a detailed honey comb guide one day, if you do i would like to see from the side as well. ❤
@@RiahsTieDye thank you so much for the response! You seem to be one of the only, if not only, advanced tie dyer to not be super closed off with your process. Not that either way is necessarily right or wrong, but very cool that you share the love, and again, incredible work! Side note: I’m not super active in RUclips comments sections, so I have no idea how or why my name on here is buttlick, but I imagine a friend messing with me a long time ago. how embarrassing!! Hahaha! Have a great day!
@@Osu10buckeyes thanks! I think that sharing is definitely caring and most people that keep it to themselves definitely do it for a reason but I’ve never minded…this can be a hobby for someone or even a career so who am I to hinder that ☺️💙
I love ya girl. To me youre the best and your tutorials always make moee sense than anyone elses...that being said i didnt know what the hell was happening here😂. One slow tie then SPEED TIE!!.
@Riahs Tie Dye I've watched your very thorough slowed down tutorial of it. It was a great tutorial, made perfect sense. Still can't do it. Not even close lol. Never struggled this hard to at least get the hang of a tie but it'll probably just happen one day
Thank you so much! I actually sell all my Tie Dye and take custom orders on my website which is www.riahstiedye.com if you message me using the contact us section😊💜💙
@@RiahsTieDye thanks! I tried it with synthetic bast last weekend and it kinda worked, but I think mainly because it didn't dye all the way through anyways. Even though I feel like I have drenched the fabric, on all patterns I tried (honeycomb, circles, wigwag and just the unicoloured parts in vetween) had white lines in them or were marbled with white 🤔🤔 It was fun but I am exhaused for now haha
The rubber bands holds it together until you can get the sinew on. If you don’t have anything holding it together it will get all messed up and you won’t be able to fix it.
Haha follow up question. I notice that how tight i tie the string, or size and tightness of an elastic seems to effect how far my ink penetrates. Is this correct? Is there a guide or rule to how gauge this when preparing?
Well there’s a lot of factors. A lot of bleeding can happen if your string isn’t tight enough…if you don’t want bleeding I wouldn’t even use rubber bands…bleeding also depends on if the shirt is wet or dry. It’s kind of a trial and error thing.
I appreciate the feedback. Im slowly getting it. Haha going through alot of shirts. I will keep watching videos and reading. You have plenty more for me to learn from. Thank you again
That is crazy and amazing! How in the world do you come up with these wonderful designs, are they just running around in your mind?😁
Lol. Absolutely! I love Tie dye and I’m always trying to “step it up”😊 I’m glad you like it Amy!😊💚

How tight are you pulling each section? Incredible work, so pretty!!!
I pull them as tight as I can without the sinew slipping ☺️❤️

Yes. You definitely want to fully Dye every section. Sometimes multiple times😊

Awesome!!! ☺️💚
Brilliant thank you
You’re very welcome and thank you!🌈😊
That is incredible!! How long did it actually take to do all the folding and tying?
Thank you! The folding was pretty quick but the thing took about 20 minutes. I’d say 30 minutes in total 😊💙
Is the sinew for this waxed? Or is it the tight bind that is the secret to the white lines?
It is waxed and that is how you can pull so tight without tying it off so sinew is the secret 😊
@@RiahsTieDye thanks!

Thanks so much Dawn!😊💙
Do you reuse the sinew when you use it. I realize it's not that expensive but it's a lot of length??
No I don’t. When you use it it loses its wax coating which is what makes it so useful in Tie Dye. 😊💜
@@RiahsTieDye oh, good to know. Thanks!
why do you take off rubber bands and use the Sinew? Does the dye not soak through the Sinew?
The rubber bands holds it together until you can get the sinew on. If you don’t have anything holding it together it will get all messed up and you won’t be able to fix it.
I love it
Thank you so much! ☺️❤️
This is bonkers cool

Holy shit that’s amazing!!!

Hey, basic question. been teaching myself to tie dye for a bit. is there a general depth or height of each fold?
It really depends on how big you want the honeycomb. For smaller honeycombs you want shallower pleats and bigger honeycombs would be taller pleats ☺️

Is there a close up for sinew application
This video is the only video that has the slowed down bit in it. At some point when I have time I will try to make a closeup slow version ☺️❤️
😱😱🧡💛💚💙💜 YASSS!!
Thank you!
