      HG😂 .... you are bad to the bone, and I love your sense of humor...please do not stop .... in the final analysis , why you choose to help us.....matters little.Whether you are narcissist or empath maybe it’s roll of the dice. I was married many years ago to a very psychopathic narcissist... I was too stupid to get out before the damage was done... how I wish there was a “ HG” back then. I live alone and will confess when I can not sleep, I put on one of your videos and the sound of your voice lulls me to sleep 😴... I smile to myself I am now addicted to your voice.

    The way I decipher if someone has genuine empathy vs cognitive empathy is by how they are naturally considerate/respectful of others boundaries.

    • @asryn96
      @asryn96 3 года назад +5

      Respecting others boundaries is the way people show their real empathy. It's essential to learn to set boundaries, though. Toxic people, whether are a narcissist or not, will respect boundaries and not trample on them.

      I'm struggling to distinguish if my sister, with whom I've gone no contact, but ran into today, is a full blown, no empathy narcissist or just narcissistic. I've spent a lifetime with a multitude of narcissists and have studied much on the subject, but my sister troubles me.have I written off someone, who may have an inkling of empathy. She futures fakes, triangulation, makes false accusations, against me, she gaslights, slightly, but...I miss my childhood friend...is she gone? P.s..I'd say my mother is full blown narcissist

    I used to think of myself as an empath because I'm so sensitive to others emotions but realised a long time ago that unless I held back my people pleasing instincts, even normal partners would walk all over me. Sometimes, I over compensated and acted badly. I feel guilt and empathic pain when I cause upset in others. But I also think the tools of narcs can be useful if only to protect ourselves from them.

    Thank you for this Tudor - first: people need to just look up the handbook of psychiatry & read the basic checklist for narcissists - I've had to send this list to a few friends (one who is a narc lol but who thinks everyone else is!) that just go on about how anyone they don't like or treats them poorly is a narc. Ugh.
    Once they read it usually they are like: 'oh, no, they aren't like that, huh, I guess they're not narcs..'
    Importantly though people need to understand that abuse is abuse is abuse - & abusive behaviors are what they are & there is no excuse......
    see it for what it is & move on: don't wait for a label to stick on the person
    For women: I recommend the book: 'Why does he do that?' - what their research finds is that there is no 'reason' these abusive men abuse (aka PTSD, narc, sociopath, psychopath - most of these abusive men are not any of these & even when they are the behaviors aren't appreciatively different from those who are not)-they abuse because they wish to, & they can & they will be with women who allow it: that simple.

  • @dandydan999

    The explanation is good.
    However, in order to determine whether an individual is narcissistic vs a pwNPD, one has to observe repeat patterns of behaviours over time.
    The repeat pattern of behaviours determine whether or not words match actions and whether apologies ring hollow when the actions are repeated.

    Thanks HG. Interesting as usual but would like to add that, as you have said before, genuinely empathic people do have narcisstic traits. Therefore, lets say that the sound engineer is a full blown narc and has been winding the empathic pop star up for some time then the pop star could blow up. Of course the pop star will then feel absolutely awful afterwards, as it is out of character, and he/she will take all the blame and probably rush to apologise to the arsehole, I mean sound engineer. And there we have it... the quintessential example of why narcs feed off empaths and why empaths stay in the abusive relationship too long. Just because someone has an epic outburst doesn't mean they are not an empath. Everyone has limits.

    Perhaps narc traits residing within the alta egoes of our conscious minds by nature/nurture develop and reflect disproportionately the life preserving ego of the subconscious mind.

    • @Ikaros23
      @Ikaros23 2 года назад

      It`s a coping mechanism. It`s like a computer virus that can infect the mind, when it`s malfunctioning because of emotional trauma. The " Ego" is not the mind per se. The ego is a fiction that`s created by the mind to protect it from harm of abuse/damage and to adapt to a hostile environtment where it lacks nurture and controll. It`s like computer " Malware" that creates a new operating system over the real system. That blocks the underlying system from connecting to the real world ( the interhuman network of emotions). The main object is to protect it from harm. The problem is that it`s a ficting created to survive as a child/todler and not as a grown human around others.
      a great metafor is that the narcissist creates a superiority complex and a inferiority complex. They protect this behind the fiction. That is the " self image". This image is always the image of a superior beeing, or a hyper inferior victim. Or a mix of them.
      If you ever talk to them and you notice they are super entiteld, thin skinned, highly emotional ( hatefull, irritated, angry). You most likely have to do with a narcissist, maby even a NPD. The last type is highly dangerous. And can even be Psycopatic

    HG, I can’t find videos where you elaborate on the subject of re-idealization, its reasons and prospects. Every ”doctor” on youtube come with different kind of claim.. It’s impossible to know what’s correct and what’s not.
    For example would a narcissist ever choose to even marry a past source of fuel or do marriages only happen with ”new” people etc?
    It has been claimed that a person can do things to become re-idealized, is that even true?

    • @hgtudor-theultra
      @hgtudor-theultra  3 года назад +12

      1. You cannot make the narcissist re-idealise you with any guarantee of success. Anybody who tells you that you can does not understand narcissism and may well be an unaware narcissist exhibiting their need to assert control.
      2. An appliance can be made white because somebody else in the fuel matrix is painted black, by way of example the Current IPPS is painted black and is thus in devaluation and so the Former IPPS who was black is now painted white increasing that person's risk of being hoovered.
      3. An appliance who was black can fade to white through the effluxion of time because the effect of the wounding (which made them seen as black) has "healed" through the passage of time. This is partially why the narcissist can stroll back after being wounded or challenged and act as if nothing has happened, the passage of time has eroded the effect of the wounding or challenge.

    • @serinmanneret1821
      @serinmanneret1821 3 года назад +3

      @@hgtudor-theultra Thank you for your (as always) well-explained answer. As I understand it now, a narcissist only continues with "the cycle" of idealization and devaluation. So really, the narcissist doesn't truly re-idealize the other person in the sense that the person would be considered "renewed". Or maybe that is the way the narcissist sees the appliance afterall (as "renewed")?
      Anyhow, whether or not a narcissist then acts upon it meaning WHY he/she chooses to hoover a past IPPS then depends on a specific need of the narcissist. Which would mean that a narcissist could very possibly hoover someone in order to get into a relationship again or even for a marriage, IF there is something that the narcissist will get out of it..
      Based on your answer, (as I understand it) being painted white (as in being "re-idealized") and re-engaging with former appliance CAN happen, but it doesn't apply to ALL narcissists. Also, the reasons for the re-engagement and it's success varies, depending on several factors. That's how I interpret it anyway.
      To be honest, I used to think that all narcissists immediatley shut off after viewing their "partner" with disgust and that they would always stay repulsed by them and never ever re-engage in a relationship or something bigger like getting married to them, because they had been painted black once. Instead it seems like it differs between narcissists.

    How do we recognise such "narcissistic" people & " normal people with No empathy for strangers" on online dating platforms

    Please, what is it when the 'pop star' responds: "when was I unreasonable? I wasn't angry, that's just your perspective, everyone else says they would say the same, I was very reasonable. Others have trouble with this sound engineer". Even with a history of many people being 'blasted' by the 'pop star' and hurt and devastated he still claims that he never hurt anyone.

    I always get misty when the national anthem plays for our country even knowing it's bad history towards Blacks. I always find myself tearing up. She would loathe the sight of my emotional connection to the athletes who sacrificed for their goals & dreams. And would often comment (negatively!) on why I get so emotional during Olympic games or championships. She hated it even I got misty for others, I tried explaining it but she just didn't get it.

      They lack empathy. That is for you and your feelings. This trait on her behalf ( She hated it even I got misty for others). Is a REAL RED FLAG.
      If there is a mix of lovebombing, and devalueing ( what she do with you) also on other matters systematic ( they come often) redflags. She might be narcissistic and even have NPD.
      Look out for:
      frequient use of the toxic mix of lovebombing, manipulations ( lies, gaslighting, blatant lies), devauling of your character, values, actions etc... If you have these+ the character traits of little empathy, entitelment, lack of ability to truly listen etc.

    Please do a video on Chris Watts. I hate hearing how he just couldn't help killing his family so he could have "a new life" benefitting from the payoff from the life insurance and lawsuit against the oil company.

    Hey HG ! - wouldn't the narcissist saying:" Hell yes - of course I'm under a lot of pressure....!" be equal with "admitting weakness or being in a position the narcissist doesn't have under control to the maximum extend" ? - from the viewpoint of a narcissists perspective that and as well - even though just doing it for strategicly gaining an wanted outcome "needing to finally having to excuse - to some extend " must be quite demeaning or frustrating - whilst this would at least on the surface imply some acknowledgement of the factual reality of actually "not being in total control" !? - or is that not an "ego-blow" - (I know there is no ego) for the narcissistic system/defense mechanism ? - or is faking to win and gain satisfactory enough to "ignore/dissmiss/oversee" this ?....

    Good content Mister, even I do not agree with the "Spectrum" as described here. It gives a dualistic Vibe, that just isnt there in that extreme. Its not a dark and bright side thingy in my personal point of view.

    The term narcissist is being used loosely these days, not everyone who has narcissistic traits has a NPD, I think it's interesting that narcissism is a spectrum and NPD is very uncommon, between 0.5-1% of the general population, something most people don't know about

    This is a good video. I think a certain channel owner who rants about how you're wrong, etc because the C-O knows better than anyone probably has narcissistic tendencies. I think you probably come too close for comfort to what goes on inside the C-O's head and she doesn't like the mirror. Lol
