Thanks man I don't get too many opportunities myself to do things like that appreciate you taking the time Just a suggestion Winchester soft point versus Remington core lock or do you have a video like that already - I'm still new to the channel 👍
That FMJ is still going! I watched a buddy of mine hit a coyote 4 times with fmj's and that thing was still alive. They don't expand there fore their energy is not spent on the target. Good stuff Who Tee Who!
Preacher's Day Off they dump energy, it's just they do it from the flip, not the expansion, so you need a deeper target. Still not as much energy transfer though.
Switch to 165gr tulammo. Cheap. Heavy, and comes with a soft tip that will expand massively to .75/765 inch in diameter. In other words. One helluva slap
Those two rounds are used for completly different reasons...Also the balistics that you brought up also were different grains which is why the difference of velocity...

I just wanted to say thank you for turning me on to the 308! I would never have thought that you could get ammo that cheap for this kind of caliber which is why I saw that the 3030 seemed to be cheaper than 3006 or 270. What do you think of the tulammo? Is it still pretty good? I saw a 20 pack for 6.89 on the cheaper than dirt website and a huge smile came over my face! Like you I have a very small budget and I need to find a decent rifle for a small amount of money. Are there any low budget rifles that you would recommend? How heavy of a bullet can you get in a 308? Once again man thank you!
Hey bro thanks for the reviews, especially the one on the Tasco 6mp game camera. I picked up three and buying three more in January thanks again I will be watching your other videos
+Jose Guerrero hey thanks appreciate that. I have two other types of trail cameras in the mail right now. Hope to have videos up here in a few weeks on those as well
Hey dude this is so Badass I love this I had a guess that the soft point shells would go through 4 and Knick a 5th but with full metal has a better impact showing this is just excellent I love this video gonna put this in my favorites
You should try the flet nose or truncated solids, or the new solid federal (?) Is loading with the dished nose and the plastic cap on the nose. Supposedly they travel straighter and are less prone to tumbling.
FMJ's designed to "YAW", that is to veir and tumble, for max damage, to counter the Versaille treaty.! To replicate the military M-80 7.62mm Ball, my best research for handloading looks like potentialy most likely, close to: either : 44.4 gr. of BL-C(2), or, 40.7 gr. IMR 3031 are very close to to that with packing the standard 147-150 gr FJM. Best for economical target practice, personal expierence shows that the 180 gr is more accurate!
After WW2 the US ordenance department got together with Winchester and developed a modernized .30-06 tailored for best terminal ballistic effect between 300-500 meters instead of 500-800 meters. They also shortened the round to use in short receivers for the future General Purpose MachineGuns and Battle Rifles they were planning. They then forced NATO to adopt the Military version. The difference between .308 Winchester and 7.62 NATO is a different neck and a thicker brass to make it soldier proff.
My guess was 4 for the SP and 6 for the FMJ . But now I think the FMJ would do 7 or 8 if you could catch it . You need a fool proof way to catch these .
My friend and I tried the milk jugs with his 223 rem against my 22-250 his went though to the fourth jug but my 22-250 went though six jugs so we two found out some thing that the 22-250 rem,has a lot more power than his 223 rem, 308 is good for deer hunting...
.308 is my go to huntin round . I have an American and love it. I wonder if putting a 2 by 12 on each side of the jugs would help you catch the bullet?
Just a crazy question. I saw your video on S & W 500 magnum that went through 14 jugs and the Desert Eagle 50AE go through about the same as the 0.308calber rifle rounds. Is it the weight that allows these pistol rounds to have same or better penetration through the water jugs? I find those results interesting.
Mostly the type of bullet. If it is a hollow point or hunting round it is made to expand and dump a lot of energy, if it is a hardened tip or Full Metal Jacket it will just keep on going
WHO_TEE_WHO maybe next time you could have a pyramid shape with the jugs. It might help your chances on catching the bullet. Just a thought. Have a good one. Thanks for the vid.
honestly not off hand, doesn have ta be phonebooks, clould be a good stack of any old books, maybe contact your local phonecompany they sometimes have a crap load after distribution or maybe even your library. another option is cutting up sheets of plywood i to 2 foot squares and using that. maybe my logic is flawed but ive always prefered penetration over expansion, well, not in some cases, but sometimes you would need the extra penetration to defeat barriers. when shooting old mausers and nagants and the steel cored ammo from ww2 would completly destroy concret blocks and demolish light sheet metal, makes a person wonder if the logic bak then was to hopefully catch 3-4 enemy soldiers lined up in a row amnd take them all out with one shot

The lesson from this video:
If someone is shooting at you with fmj, just hide behind a few milk jugs.

+MengeR sounds like an idea for another video! Time for an ammo run!
WHO_TEE_WHO yes because most video are always about FMJ & HP or FMJ & JSP only never what I've state. Thanks I'll be waiting for the video to come
Those two rounds are used for completly different reasons...Also the balistics that you brought up also were different grains which is why the difference of velocity...
The difference in velocity is because it was steel case vs premium brass. Steel case ammo is almost always loaded to less pressure than brass.

Wait! those aren't milk jugs, they are spring water jugs. No wonder it was hard to catch the bullets. Nice video!
😂😂😂 thanks for watching!
You need to brace the jugs with boards on each side. The jugs are moving the bulllet when they hit, result flyers.
+jackel19 sounds like a plan to me. Have to start saving up for some boards
shoot plywood, water is inconsistent. sheets in a box
+jackel19 shooooot plywood is expensive :) sounds like a plan to me
stop drinking milk and buy a sheet of plywood. cut it up into 1 ft squares
+jackel19 this was all water jugs, didnt have enough milk jugs yet :) plywood wont be as explosive or colorful ;)
Just an FYI here for those interested. Remington makes UMC 308 150 gr FMJ. It's what I use and it runs for about $12/bx in bulk cases (200 rds)
Very nice. I like shooting the 308 because the ammo is so much cheaper
Do you hunt deer with the UMC 308 150 gr FMJ?
@CLOV3R713 Thanks for your response. I was just curious. After seeing some gel tests, I'll stick with my 150 gr. power points.

wow i didnt expect that little of penetration from a 308. thats pistol caliber type of penetration. crazy.

Its blatantly obvious the fmj didn't tumble. Look at the perfect hole in the pot.
@@SonsoftheEagle tumbles when it hits something solid. A spun metal pan is far from solid.
You know after all this I'm appreciating my .45-70
+Ralph Reagan 4570 is my favorite!
I think the soft point will stop on the 4th or 5th jug. And the fmj will, if not tumbling, go through 8 or 9 jugs.
+Thatoneguy overthere very good guess!
The FMJ is tumbling and veering off track. Fun vid.
I think i destroyed about 30 jugs trying to catch the fmj. HA!

yiihaa :D My guess is 6 stop in 7 FMJ, 5 stop in 6 Softpoint. I´m afraid I may be completely wrong :D ;)

Imagine that! A .308 FMJ managed to make it ALL THE WAY thru that pot! Amazing.

the jacketed soft point is outlawed in war by treaty because it does more damage than a full metal jacket.
