Went to do this and discovered a crack in my air intake hose, went to another vid and fixed that. Cleaning the MAF sensor in the morning and installing my new fog lights in my EX-L 🤙🏼 tks brother
I found it was easier for me to loosen the air filter box, pull it forward and then disconnect the connection to the MAF sensor. These videos you produce are gold, thanks.
I’m installing an takeda air intake and this hidden gem of a vid helped me to remove my air intake box. I watch all your videos as it has helped and motivated me to work on my civic. Thank you sir!!!!
Made the mistake of not unplugging battery... Had to reset ECU OMG Christmas lights came early... Still love your video great stuff Thank you so much!!!
I did clean some engine plastics and did not unplugged battery now got 2 codes p0113 and p0102 how can I fix it? Do I have to replace the sensor or just clean up
I'm actually a little surprised on the amount of things that needed to be removed, usually working on the Civic is a breeze and requires 0 tedious work like putting hoses back. Cleaning the MAF was easier on my BMW than this but the civics doesn't seem too bad. I'm sure it could be worse
Its only these 2012-2015 Civics that are a PITA. The 2006-2011 are easy. Honda for some reason pushed back the airbox in the later models. The 2016+ civics are easy.
Couldn't you just unscrew the throttle intake hose running to the intake box and and pop the top off of the air filter box, instead of removing the whole air box?
I really liked your video bro. My problem is that now my sensor is not working properly lol. And I got the VSA, power steering and check engine lights on my dash. What do I need to do now bro?😣😒
Great Video MrRanger! However, is there an alternative cleaning agent to use aside a MAF sensor cleaner? Can i use brake/parts cleaner instead since they clean and evaporate real well? Hope to hear from you. Thank you.
Very informative vid man thx..gotta get my car scanned before I try this operation haha. but one question how long should I let it dry before re installing??
Update: my air flow hose was torn just like a lot of other people, causing that above issue. I changed it, and I still cleaned theaf like in this video. Now I no longer get the hard jerking due to the rip, but get small suddel jerking. So I guess the MAF can't be fixed. I also cleaned out the throttle body like in the video linked here.
Had an issue after I installed a cold air intake to my 2015 Civic, water was getting sucked through the filter everytime it rained and I hydrolocked the car twice! Took that piece of shit cold air intake out then installed a short ram and realized my mass air flow sensor had gotten wet and was damaged. If you want to install an intake stick with the short ram intake so you don’t go through what I went through

These are very relaxing videos. I like how you can hear the texture of what you are doing. It helps a lot.

THANK YOU! I didn't know what was holding back the air box, so I gave up cleaning the MAF sensor in my car. Now I will be able to do it, tks to you!
Outstanding tutorial MrRangerZr1 !! You have great skills both as a mechanic and as a teacher. Thank you.
Thank you for a very precise, concise and informational presentation.

Christmas lights are built in feature with these modern cars lol

Drastico Perez what did you end up doing?
Also wanting to know what you did

I got a 13 😔
Couldn't you just unscrew the throttle intake hose running to the intake box and and pop the top off of the air filter box, instead of removing the whole air box?
Yes.
No you can't. I tried. The top half of the filter box is hinged to the bottom. You have to take the whole thing out like in the video
Great video. Worked like a charm. Thanks!
Nice, clear video and direct to the point, thank you very much,
Genial! Gracias por tu experiencia
I really liked your video bro. My problem is that now my sensor is not working properly lol. And I got the VSA, power steering and check engine lights on my dash. What do I need to do now bro?😣😒
You plugged it in while it was still wet. Clear the codes and you should be good. Just disconnect the battery for 5 mins.
Same thing happened to me did you fix it?
thanks for this!!
Great Video MrRanger! However, is there an alternative cleaning agent to use aside a MAF sensor cleaner? Can i use brake/parts cleaner instead since they clean and evaporate real well? Hope to hear from you. Thank you.
Only use MAF sensor or electrical cleaner
Easy to follow instructions, thanks.
Great video!
That was a lot of work for that “booger”.
Very informative vid man thx..gotta get my car scanned before I try this operation haha.
but one question how long should I let it dry before re installing??
I would wait around 10 mins if you're not in a rush
@@MrRangerZr1 sencer was fine...ended up having a split air intake hose:/ but the knowledge will help in the future..thanks again🤘
@@ovetstevo oh the hose split.... Damn.
@@ovetstevo same thing for me. I cleaned the MAF anyway. But now the cars softly jerking between 20-30mph
@lionintu did you find out what the problem was?
Excellent videos, can you use throttle cleaner for the sensor or are they totality different . Thanks MrRanger
No use only MAF sensor on MAFs.
Great Video... Thank you so much...
Great video
Excuse my ignorance, but what is that tool you use to unscrew the screws? a socket wrench? What kind(not size, like what is this long L shape called?)
That is the ratchet. The socket is the small part that connects to it. (the part that says 10mm, 12mm etc)
Thank you.
Do you wipe it or shake it or anything before you put the maf senor back in ?
Just let it air dry, no wiping.
Can't you just remove the top half of the filter housing?
No its a tight fit.
no i thought same thing , it has tabs you can't get to @@MrRangerZr1
Do you know how to reset MAf sensor if it is replaced with new one?
No need to reset anything
Thanks brother my 15 si has been actin all weird! 🤪 worth a shot
Will this help with fuel economy?
Yes
Does it need right amount of torque when you install the sensor?
Nah just don't strip the screw heads
My car idle fine, but when accelerate the car hesitated not to crazy but noticeable it’s annoying. Will by cleaning the sensor solve the problem?
Cleaning the throttle body and this sensor should improve the responsiveness.

Is the car still hesitating?
Same problem with mine
Same situation here. I get a lot of hesitation accelerating hard between 20-40. Thanks for the info. I'll try cleaning both out.

Can I do it without unplugging the negative terminal?
The harness gets in the way that's why you have to remove it
Is it safe if i use the contact cleaner to clean the MAF?
electrical contact cleaner yes but best to use MAF cleaner
What’s the point of cleaning the maf
Did u get a code ?
Can collect dirt overtime and cause it to give false readings to the ecu
@@MrRangerZr1
Got it .. thks ..
I have a question my civic 9gen is giving me the check emission system alert will cleaning my MAF sensor fix the problem?
You have to check what code is giving and go from there
I have code p0171 lean i also noticed a hole in air intake hose can that be the problem?
Yes
Absolutely

What size are the two map sensor screws?
Dee Dogg the screw head? Phillips #2
or 5.5 MM socket @@MrRangerZr1
