I agree! I remember hearing the 3 songs of the third side for the first time, when WAAF played them back to back on the radio. I was totally stunned by the beauty and the depth…just magnificent! This material made a huge impact on my life. Still does! This music is timeless; it’s hard to believe it’s been 30 years(!!!) since this came out.
Rush 2112 is my favorite album for technicality and for the storyline. But three sides to every story is a real close second, I love this album. Once you start listening to it, it's hard to turn it off. You end up listening to the whole thing
I was lucky enough to grow up in the same city as Gary (Malden). I became very good friends with him and the rest of the band. Went to many live shows and hung out backstage. We used to play basketball all the time and I actually played a big role in one of their videos. What a time in my life. Don’t see them as much anymore now that I’m older and have my own family, but I will tell you these guys are the most down to earth guys you could meet. Pure class!
experienced the same with them since they were the dream . I worked as college and club dj also writer. they were always cool and approachable even as they grew popular. have a friend who still sees Gary says still down to earth
Lol, I'm like 98% sure that I passed Gary coming out of the Stop and Shop in Malden one day, around lunch time. He was just standing outside, near one of the entrances. I think it was just after his time with VH. I would have stopped and said something, but VH is my favorite band followed closely by Extreme, so I'm not sure I would have said anything close to coherent. I do wish I had stopped, just so I could have verified that it was him or not.
Me too...They're part of who I am. I grew up down the road from Nuno on Broad Street in Hudson, MA...We hung (sometimes) but he was really, a loner. I spent a lot of my teens and twenties with his cousins, especially Marc. Whenever we all got together, Nuno never really stuck around long. The more people started coming around, the more uncomfortable he became. It was a curious thing because anyone who knew him back then, before fame, remembers him most, from the days when he started playing guitar. Seriously, he never put it down. He had it with him In school walking down the halls...after school inside or behind the gym...sitting alone in the back row of windows in Hudson House of Pizza...at night at the house in the back yard of his house, where we kinda all used to hang...he'd be out there like, ALL night long sometimes just him banging out riffs or writing music. I remember, he actually had these milk crates in his room, that were like, stuffed full of sheet music that he wrote. The papers would stick out through the holes of the crates...lol..but if someone asked him about a particular riff or arrangement or some obscure, shortened, 12 bar blues lick...whatever it was, he knew exactly where in which crate it was stuffed in! (true story lol) But he ALWAYS had that guitar with him - once he started playing seriously, we didn't see much of him after that...and the rest, we all know, is Extreme history. Anyway, my apologies for randomly rambling on like that. Thanks for the walk down memory lane, my friend~
I love hearing stories like that, thanks for sharing! The coolest people we see doing the most amazing creative material, the trailblazers, the innovators…there’s a huge amount of sacrifice and dedication they put in to get where they are, and so often we learn they were the “weird” ones, the “loners” growing up. They seemed like they were in their own little world…and they were! They HAD to be, to dream up the amazing original things they envisioned!
its funny, "Get the Funk Out" is what sold me on extreme. But in the end and after a couple decades have passed . . . its this song and Peaceamaker Die that stand out to me as their best work. Nuno may be the most under-rated guitar player in rock history.
What about Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Jimi Hendrix Experience, Steve Morse Band, Eric Johnson Band, I could actually go on & on. Extreme is a creative Rocking band no doubt but the best one guitar band ever? Not even close...Peace.
What would be Extreme without Gary Cherone? Not Extreme! I'm amazed at what he can do with his voice..., he´s full of rocking power, but on the other hand he sings so insightful songs like "Love of my life" from Queen with so much talent.
This song is very close to me, in that it mirrors my life between the ages of 28 to 35. I was lost, locked into a destructive pattern that could have ended me. I also grew up on the South Shore of Massachusetts.
I couldn't stop listening to this album for months after I purchased it in the early 90's....I went to see them at The Boston Garden before they tore that down. All these years later this album stands out as one of the best pieces of music I have ever heard.....and I've seen the Best. Nuno Bettancourt is just amazing....I bought a Washburn N2 guitar......I couldn't afford the N4 which he plays at the time ........Just a incredible .
I think the rest in peace solo is the best solo ever written herd it 30 years ago an the melody is still in my head an the vocals of this band are unmatched
It is truly MIND BOGGLING that these guys can sound THIS GOOD after 20 years......WOW !!! BTW, this was ALWAYS, my favorite Extreme song. Many excellent songs by them, but this one just struck a chord w me. Cheers boys. 10 out of 10.
Bought this album on release and loved it. Many thought it a bit overblown and overproduced by I still think it's great. Very varied. And still love that closing side with the 3 songs segueing into each other. Brilliant. And this version is superb too. Would've been nice to have Paul Geary, but this guy is great and plays similarly.
LOVE THE DIGITAL DELAY ON THIS SONG BOTH HERE and on the album. Did I mention that I LOVE the digital delay? Echoing ALL OVER AND OVER! FANFRICKINTASTIC!!
I'm tired of being me, And I don't like what I see, I'm not who I appear to be So I start off every day, Down on my knees I will pray, For a change in any way But as the day goes by, I live through another lie, If it's any wonder why Am I ever gonna change Will I always stay the same If I say one thing, Then I do the other It's the same old song, That goes on forever Am I ever gonna change I'm the only one to blame When I think I'm right, I wind up wrong It's a futile fight, Gone on too long Please tell me if it's true, Am I too old to start anew, 'Cause that's what I want to do But time and time again, When I think I can, I fall short in the end So why do I even try, Will it matter when I die, Can anyone hear my cry? Am I ever gonna change Take it day by day My will is weak And my flesh too strong This peace I seek Till thy kingdom comes
This was a superb album that I listened to non stop for months after it came out. I also always been into high end Audio/video and this is a fantastic recording. Even better than some newer recordings I hear today. Back when it came out it’s was one of best recordings I had on CD.
Nuno rules ! LOVE this song - the guitar melodies take me to a better place ... the days when this first came out ...... Incredible live show. Thanks for this one , I needed it on my lonely b-day.
Underrated isn't the word They are not yet understood Like Queen or many other great bands. Extreme is miles above any other rock band from that time. It was us who didn't see it.
Man....what a great tune coming from a great band as well. So glad to see and hear Extreme getting new life and some new music. Gary... Nuno... and the rest of the band are so underrated. Nuno is definitely one of the greatest guitarists out there.
Bought this album when it came out and thought it was brill but the live version of this song is even better than the album version, keep coming back to it 👍
best song from that album for sure. Dare I say the Album got lost in the Grunge shuffle but what a great song. talented bunch of fella's. Nuno did not miss a note I don'y think and that Delay was so delish
I really like this song. For a band metal, It has a good lyrics, in special for me. As spiritual person who I considered myself, it's really chilling hearing this song when I did a mistake or a big error.e.
People like this song because it's real. Which so few songs are nowadays. Real problems real yearning for forgiveness. I wish they had a priest actually come out and to the Latin Penitential Rite (like in the original) that would be an incredibly powerful performance.
Chuck Norris and God had a heated debate about whether there really is a supreme being that rules over the universe. It was brutal, but it was resolved: Yes, there is, and it is Nuno Bettencourt
I heard this song live for the first time in 2008 and stood like the audience in the video completely dumbstruck by this performance. It was immense and so powerful. I believe 2 members of Led Zeppelin were also at the same concert in 2008.
Greatest album by anyone, anytime. The world needs to hear this masterpiece.

This album is amazing and way under-rated. The music and vocals are unreal.
I hope the boys never grow old.
DEFINATELY
III Sides to Every Story was a criminally under appreciated masterpiece.
The greatest there IS man :)
Nuno's guitar solos...out of this world...
it's official...Nuno is the greatest guitarist there ever was
Hmmmmmmmm.................great guitarist? Yes. Greatest ever? No.
One of the greatest like Steve Vai, Satch or David Gilmour !
Paul Gilbert say hello!!!
PG is rigid
@@johnjones3648 The GREATEST. Bar none.

this album has gotten me through a lot of hard times...death divorce... thank you extreme
me too!

the last trilogy of three side is a masterpiece. thank you for such legacy. 🙇♂️
This song is very close to me, in that it mirrors my life between the ages of 28 to 35. I was lost, locked into a destructive pattern that could have ended me. I also grew up on the South Shore of Massachusetts.
Everything under the sun (all three songs) really did make me reflect on my life as a young man. Its a masterpiece and helped make me a better person.
The new album is tremendous awesome music from start to finish #Rebel, Beautiful Girls,Over the Rainbow, every tune on SIX IS A MASTER PIECE!!!
I am happy just with the reality that they still play this great song in flawless live version.
Underrated band, underrated album.

A masterpiece !
Extreme is so underrated!! Talented beyond...!!!
just unbelievable the technique these lads have...absolute brilliant
I'm tired of being me,
And I don't like what I see,
I'm not who I appear to be
So I start off every day,
Down on my knees I will pray,
For a change in any way
But as the day goes by,
I live through another lie,
If it's any wonder why
Am I ever gonna change
Will I always stay the same
If I say one thing,
Then I do the other
It's the same old song,
That goes on forever
Am I ever gonna change
I'm the only one to blame
When I think I'm right,
I wind up wrong
It's a futile fight,
Gone on too long
Please tell me if it's true,
Am I too old to start anew,
'Cause that's what I want to do
But time and time again,
When I think I can,
I fall short in the end
So why do I even try,
Will it matter when I die,
Can anyone hear my cry?
Am I ever gonna change
Take it day by day
My will is weak
And my flesh too strong
This peace I seek
Till thy kingdom comes
The lyric really hits me. Wonder what they were going through when they wrote it.
This song rocks. Period. Amazing performance by such an extremely talented and underrated band.
This was a superb album that I listened to non stop for months after it came out. I also always been into high end Audio/video and this is a fantastic recording. Even better than some newer recordings I hear today. Back when it came out it’s was one of best recordings I had on CD.
Love Extreme. I saw them in Manchester a few years back and they were great. Nuno, for me, is one of the great guitarists.
John Cusato AMEN!! NUNO is a God!!
Wow...I saw them in Manchester too, many many many years ago, when this song first came out....yes Nuno is absolutely amazing!
Manchester, England around ‘94/95?
Just saw them this past August in NJ...
They're incredible!!!
Very hypnotic.😮
Nuno rules ! LOVE this song - the guitar melodies take me to a better place ... the days when this first came out ...... Incredible live show. Thanks for this one , I needed it on my lonely b-day.
Great band, great song, great musicians, professional rocknrollers... Not just posers...
Incredible song...
How many hours i pass to rewind my audio tapes with this awesome song!...
Excellent album!!!!!
Absolutely awesome…. what a killer live version. Love them all 🙌🏻♥️🎸
Man.. apart from Nuno stealing my attention as always. I can’t help but admire how the drummer leans into those drums. Class!
Agreed. That drummer is putting 100% into every drum stroke.
@@sammyo4962that’s Kevin Figueiredo …yes he’s amazing
how can a guitar player be greater than Nuno..what a monster
I loved this song on 'III sides'. Has it all.
Nuno=Brian May + Van Halen
Live or record, they excel..
I once thought Nuno missed a note... I was mistaken.
Excelente guitarrista y compositor
This a great song!
Underrated isn't the word

Like Queen or many other great bands.

Only One word for this performace.. is "perfecto"
One of my favorite albums. Definitely a little of the U2 vibe..."Not that that's a bad thing."
Michael Dvorscak more Queen/Brain May than U2
THIS IS BRILLIANT!!!
Flawless performance
Extreme got better with every album they put out!
watching this live performance, again.. always make me think that..nuno is an alien.
Bought this album when it came out and thought it was brill but the live version of this song is even better than the album version, keep coming back to it 👍

Wow! Uncomparable Extreme.
Gary is a really good singer 🎤
just excellent
нет слов, это великолепно !
Chuck Norris and God had a heated debate about whether there really is a supreme being that rules over the universe. It was brutal, but it was resolved: Yes, there is, and it is Nuno Bettencourt
Perfect song 100%
Next Monday night here in Detroit cant wait .
I heard this song live for the first time in 2008 and stood like the audience in the video completely dumbstruck by this performance. It was immense and so powerful.
I believe 2 members of Led Zeppelin were also at the same concert in 2008.
Brilliant, Cheers for uploading.
