Peggy Seeger - How I Long For Peace

- 'How I Long for Peace' performed live by Peggy Seeger and son Calum MacColl.
The song appears on the album 'First Farewell' (2021, Red Grape Music).
Peggy says: "This is a completely truthful song and sometimes it’s important to just say things as they are. When people talk about hypocrisy and greed they normally mean someone else’s hypocrisy and greed. We consume an enormous amount. I’m the same - I’m guilty too. We all are. When I wrote the song, I wanted to state it just very simply - my deep desire to stop the fighting, the battling, the tearing down other people and being rude and assembling riches while so much of the world is poor. I really do long for peace and it’s a pure cry from the heart."

Marvellous song, so true today ! Why don’t they listen ?
.
A lovely song. Peggy, you are one of the truly great songwriters of our generation and you are still going strong. The last time I heard Calum was when he came with you and Ewan
to Berkeley. Ewan had a pretty bad cold and I asked him if he could sing "Hind Horn" which I loved, but hadnever heard-just read. He actually sang it and Calum sang harmony. I
never forgot that generous gift. Peggy, you once wrote the tune to "The Daemon Lover" on a cocktail napkin for me at the Great American Music Hall. Thank you for all the many
things like that over the decades. Those who work for peace out of love rather than war will love this song. Thanks Oakland CA 2021
Love this xxx psalms ch 34 v 14 ❤️
Peggy Seeger. You are an icon. "How I long for peace" will be the anthem and testimony to your life.
Thank you
Welling up here......... tears of the heart........
You provide a soundtrack to my existence from before I was born, Peggy, though strangely, I never heard your name till a few years ago.
Remain you. Stay beautiful. Keep longing for peace together with us all, and we will achieve it.
Thank you Peggy for this song, it is so beautiful and so real❤Susana
Beautiful!!! A Randy Newman esq minimalist song. Just Beautiful. Like Randys "wandering boy"
Been listening to Song of Choice with Peggy for years and only just realised she’s still around, hoping for peace and understanding and has bloody YT channel ❤️ ✌🏼
Absoluttely beautiful and moving. Truth in every word.
Peggy, such truth and power. I have been listening to you and Ewan MacColl on the radio since I was a small boy in Chicago, but we have never met. I just heard this last night on WFMT's Midnight Special, and was immensely moved. The fact that your voice still rings out like this gives me hope.
Those of us of the same age --especially today in 2022 as we watch the destruction and killing in Ukraine, Palestine and other places -- had hoped these would be better times. Tnx to Peggy and to Pete for always keeping hope alive. Lovely and powerful.
God Bless you are still kicking!
Anthem.
Peggy, you legend.♥️
Let's unite and do this! Thank you Peggy and family. Cut off the purse strings to warmongering corp , however you can! We have the power! ✌🙋♀️☮
