    Brilliant and timeless example of changing the diff oil. Great idea and tip to use tubing to fill the hard-to-reach fill hole @9:25. Thanks for capturing this!

    Speaking of good calls, your call to verify the vent tube is not stopped up was right on. I am in the middle of servicing mine and thanks to you I checked it and found it completely plugged. Now I just have to figure out how to UN-plug it. I am about to try some wire run down in it. Thanks for the great video. I wish I could give it more than 1 thumbs up.

    You might want to remind folks to use a small wire brush or toothbrush to clean around all the diff bolts before removing them to eliminate dirt from getting during maintenance.

      Brake clean

  • @imtruth69
    @imtruth69 2 года назад

    I got it.😁 I put a hose on it and kept break cleaner in it for days and tried an air hose to blow it out. NO luck. So I wound up using a small wood chisel ( The bottom is flat and the top is tapered) and tapped it between the vent flange and diff housing and using the a pair of pliers to twist and pull up. It only took 2 or 3 minutes to get the vent out. Then I used a piece of small lock wire and came in from both ends of the vent and knocked a dirt clog out. Thanks for your help. Edit. I forgot tom mention my rubber vent hose was broken. That is why mine was so clogged up.

    Does the front diff not require limited slip oil?

    • @thecitiots
      @thecitiots  3 года назад +1

      The camo one has an open diff in the front so no, but for the green one which is a 2015 that has a locking diff, now you got me questioning myself. I looked in the manual it's says hyphoid gear oil 80-90w.

    maintenance schedule says change differential fluid every 200 hours. also what year is your Honda and do you know if there are any different procedures between the different years?

    • @thecitiots
      @thecitiots  2 года назад

      I have a 13 and a 15 I'll check the manuals later and see if they are different. In general 200 hours could be a lot of years and water holes. Probably use that as a minimum guide and Taylor maintenance to your riding style. Gear lube is cheap, diff parts are not and the time it takes to replace them is time consuming.

    • @thecitiots
      @thecitiots  2 года назад

      On my 15 manual says every 2 years then there is a mark for 200 hours and/or 1200 miles. Wish I could add a picture here. Can't find the file for my 13 and the wheelers are off-site until tomorrow when I head up for deer opener.

      @@thecitiots well I doubt age of Honda makes a difference but I am working on a 2018, but maybe there is a difference. Actually I am going by a print off from Extreme Powersports cause the owner did not have the manual...I am just the repair guy

    • @thecitiots
      @thecitiots  2 года назад

      @@knightjester7947 you can get the Honda owners manual directly from Honda powersports website. And if you look on some of the some of the forums you should be able to find the actual service manual for download as well.
