    Hi Andy, regarding the Orange tree watering, if you use a 5 litre water bottle and cut a tennis ball size hole the bottom , use a hot nail or thin drill to make 3 or 4 holes in screw top, then place the bottle screw top down at base of tree, secure bottle to tree trunk or stake with cord or wire if stake, then fill each morning with water and it will recover, can’t promise fruit though, it’s sort of a drip irrigation for one tree, though you can use anywhere you want to grow

    For the orange tree, try sinking a hollow pipe about 2-3 feet down and water the roots through the pipe. It worked for me on a lemon tree, here is hot dry Northern California. Good luck.

      That does work. I am also wondering whether the PH is off with all that lime mortar around.

    I'm sure you've already done lots of research into creating your ideal henhouse, but ... That fox you have mentioned will be watching them very carefully, and coming by every day and night to see whether they are ready for eating. Your fence needs to be buried underground, so no fox can dig under them, and you need to be very aware that if a fox can get up on the wall, he can also jump into your chicken pen. That bathtub, which has plants in it, may be the perfect step up for the fox. Foxes can be very crafty and quite desperate and will always find a way. Make sure those hens have a chance at surviving Mr & Mrs Fox.

    Watering the orange tree: cut bottom off 2 lt water bottle, take cap off and bury bottle neck first about 4 inches deep into soil. Fill bottle with water every evening and it will seep into the soil.👌👌

    Are the snakes venomous? Snakes like chicken eggs as well. Better make sure that the netting for the chickens is like shade cloth. Your garden looks great.

    The orange tree needs composting. Treat your trees the way that farm in Phoenix, Arizona does.- being on the edge of nowhere/desert, they know what they are talking about. - The Watering method has to do with the root system spreading and the way you retain water has a lot to do with compost and the depth of wood chips being used as mulch.

    • @LCamp-cr7fs
      @LCamp-cr7fs 2 месяца назад

      I also watch the edge of nowhere farm vlogs. Their system of double rings around the trees makes sense. Of course the mulch to stall evaporation.

      Yes, of course - the whole place is a massive tinder box - we get a lot less rain than Portugal so the risk here is much higher.

    I don't think black anbd chickens in a hot climate are compatible. To my knowlege they don't to well in extreme heat. Perhaps you should change the black to a light color--even white.
