the radio city album literally has the BEST versions of every song...I literally think of that concert as perfection...if I would have been there I could die a happy man...tim was KILLING it...
The Christmas Jam is a great show year after year. I went this night and waited for Dave to come on at 12am and in return got to hear Mr. Popper play, T.M. Trio, and I never would have though much about Marty Stewart but he was kick ass. I never would have thought that. I think he comes evey year now. GREAT show. Need to go to it. Hopefully one day Dave and Tim will play the gig. Mark my would. Nimrod

Will, don't know if you have the "Genius" app but if you don't I would highly recommend installing it on your phone...EVERY lyric from EVERY song as well as EVERY different version(s) {live/studio/etc.} of any dMb song...🌬💨☝🏼💜 * thanks btw
@@coycoberly2163 before it was bartender he’s was touring with Tim 99- “reconcile our differences” or maybe it was going back and forth - “We reconcile our differences When I saw god and Devil walking arm and arm We reconcile our different taste Cause I saw the devil swimming in the Lords swimming pool” I have also heard him say “if there were no Judas and there were no devil Tell me where would God and his little boy be now, nowhere I swear. ...just now realized that this is one of your uploads and it only took me about 10yrs...the intro lyrics are hauntingly beautiful...thanks my friend 🌬💨☝🏼💜
The moment at the end that Dave is describing sounds like the moment his cosmic "Observer self is watching his little physical self performing. The feeling has got to be surreal.
Best? Might be. Great, either way. I admire and inspired by his connectedness, his wisdom, and his ability to express it in his music. Connected, all of us, to everything, for all time. Separate? An illusion. Keep creating, Dave!
All those flip phones recording 240p videos with 32kbs sound :D we are lucky to have the tech we have now it's crazy how fast its moved along we have HD 1080p cameras with high quality audio recording now. Just imagine what there will be in another 8-9 years!
I was there, bout 20ft from Dave and it was awesome! He seemed nervous at times and even aborted Smooth Rider in the middle of it. Once he settled down and relaxed, with some help from Warren, he was still the highlight of the long night. Thanks for posting this! I have the show on CD from a taper but it's not the quality this video captures. Cortez and Watchtower are on the official Christmas Jam DVD and is worth picking up if you can still find it. It's not the typical Watchtower you'd expect from Dave, but a jazzy tone with Warren on Electric and Branford Marsalis on Sax. I still like the Dave/DMB version better, but this was unique, different and one to remember!
Alpine Valley 8/7/04 is by far the BEST version of Bartender ever. Have yet to find a copy of it out here on RUclips but they released a double album from that show and it is on there.
Doing it at the moment. If you enjoy the intro, look up Warehouse from Piedmont Park '07, or some other old Warehouse performances. I believe it's referred to as the "Passion Intro," but I could be wrong. He does it every now and then for anything that has an extended intro on one chord since it's an easy thing to run back and forth on. I'll post the transcription in a minute for this one :)
Not to nit-pick, but that release is heavily auto-tuned in areas because he had a raging cold/cough during that performance. :) So while his guitar playing was spot-on, the raw tape is actually pretty rough in places. I actually give a lot of credit to their awesome studio/sound engineering crew for cleaning it up and making it one of the best releases to throw into the changer and listen to. However, that said, the polished release does have some really, really awesome renditions!
I guess my point coming from the standpoint of s guitar tech is that wood combined with care/setup and environmental factors makes acoustics a different beast. I've played 290 dollar fenders that play and sound better that 2000 dollar martins. If you find a good guitar it dues to matter the brand. You can't point to his guitar a d say ur sounded bad. Truthfully it would sound or could sound any way you need it too if mixed right. It's all about playability and consistency. All high end guitars will be consistent. It's just s matter of perfect past that. Now if there is no PA and title unplugged with friends then differences are noticeable .
James Shotwell I completely agree about the environment and care having a huge effect on perceived sound. I've also played a lot of sub $400 Yamahas/Fenders that sound great...probably better than a lot of Taylors. I've NEVER played one that sounds better than my HD-28. Never. Period. Even in this video, through amplification, PA, etc. the sound of that Martin is beautiful. Subjectively, I thinks it sounds heads and tails better than any of the 9xx series Taylors he plays because it has more depth, resonance, better tone, more response, etc. Once you put a sound hole cover in Dave's Taylor, he might as well be playing his old Chet Atkins SST. Not so with the Martin.
@citrix99301 its a D5 I think. you can play the same notes he does with the basic 2 note shape thats the root for "power chords" he uses the g string so he can get a different tonal quality from it, and also to maybe get the D note in 3 times with the top 3 strings. He's going from the A to A# with the g string.
Did you guys not hear Warren say how far he had to travel out of his way to make it there? Give the dude some effin credit man, he was probably tired as shit!!!!
They're too different to really compare. I agree that this intro is better only because there's actual words. At Radio City, he does his usual "moaning" with is AWESOME, but this one's just different. I prefer this one.
I think the Radio City version intro is "Peter Gabriel - Passion" just in a different key. He does this same song/intro in Dave-Tim Warehouse's too but it's the actual key of Peter's song.
joseph sites YES YES YES! You are 100% right on about that. I'm having difficulty finding that recording on RUclips. You know if its up? I've tried a few different key words, but no luck.
If you didn't see it, you would swear that the entire band is behind him... But it's just him, with enough talent to fill a million of these crowds.
completely right on, brother.
Yes! It's like I can hear the band, but they aren't there. I love him. He's amazing. So uplifting and positive.
YES ITS MORE EASY WHEN THE GUITARE is not in regular mode is guitar is not in stander mode if you know what I mean
One of my favorites. I've been lucky enough to see the full band version live 3 times. Love the acoustic version!
holy smokes. he's perfect.
the radio city album literally has the BEST versions of every song...I literally think of that concert as perfection...if I would have been there I could die a happy man...tim was KILLING it...
I am speechless, such a great voice.
Live from Fenway version is pretty awesome too, top of the lungs screaming. Listen to it before a work out.
This is the best song ever written
This is fantastic. Dave looks like he was feelin loose that night
@dmbondemand dont apologize,, this is a gift. Thankyou.

I’ve grown used to living with “The Bomb.” His dad was a nuclear physicist & died from radiation poisoning unfortunately…
He used to sing a version about God & The Devil in a swimming pool making a deal as well…😳😎AWESOME!!! Dave’s The Best!!!Thx for sharing!

Don't get me wrong, I love when the entire band jams out. But I can listen to Dave and his guitar all night long. Pure talent!
What a true artist! Love Dave and his Band for all times!
This is a reminder of loves lost, to me.
OMG!...im speechless w/ this... i like his shirt too... :)
The best bartender intro ever was done in Bloomington Indiana on 4/6/2008, free show. Assembly Hall.
@DMB41TwoStep Dude - thanks you helped me nail it.
And 'Drew, thanks a million for all you do. SDLT is the best thing out there.
Freaking love him!!!!
Genius ... Hes got the feelin .. Cant wait till spack

thanks you dave, seriously, thank you !
Dave and Tim Live At Radio City Music Hall...Single most powerful piece of recorded music in 30 years.
love this DB I've seen it and skipped it a zillion times til I realized it was yours. LOVE it !!!!!!!!!
Holy crap! Most accurate title to a video ever!
What it is to speak your TRUTH, it is a freeiBartender. Dave has it too.
Patricia Robertson ☝️☝️👍👍
Way to go, boss.
AMAZING!!!
Poor Dave. Didn't have his "A" game, but he soldiered on thru it. He's a grinder.
Sounds like his warehouse intro on Piedmont Park. Incredible
Great catch. What a bone chilling intro that is
Also did an intro very similar to this for Warehouse on the Piedmont DVD.
All those flip phones recording 240p videos with 32kbs sound :D we are lucky to have the tech we have now it's crazy how fast its moved along we have HD 1080p cameras with high quality audio recording now. Just imagine what there will be in another 8-9 years!

This kicks ass! Thanks for posting!

Is that dvd something that might be findable on the wh boards?
Great shirt!
1000000000% Agree! Radio City is pretty much the best version of each song. He was having a spot-on night. He was in the zone!
I could listen to this man sing the phonebook. /sigh
Radio City Bartender intro is angelic
Holy shit, goosebumps goin crazy.
If Dave ever loses himself this will be the song that brings him back
Christmas Jam in Asheville NC.
5:45 Jesus wept, that's a primal fucking scream to the cosmos 👏
And he played it on a sixer!
a 14-minute intro? well, that's gotta be epic.
agreed. I was fucking overwhelmed the first time I heard it. It blew me away.

reminds me of the intro to warehouse from the live at piedmont park concert
Dave does a Warehouse intro almost just like this. Same melody, but slightly different words and it lasts way longer. Still sick.
Fkn love that intro
you ARE nit picking haha This one is great they both are. :)
He seems like such a nice guy, I wonder if that’s an act, I hope not
He used a similar intro to Warehouse on 9/8/07, but this show was 12/16/06
Guitar Resonance,Timbre,tonal,Tragic.

The radio city version is sickkkk i agreee
If you don't get goose bumps from the radio city version there is a good chance you don't have a palse
Radio City version kicked butt... he sounded like he had a belt around his throat in this one.
6:23-7:13
I love his banshee wail!! :)
I don't know why he even bothers with Taylor guitars. The sound of that Martin is just so much better.
Eric Brohman He's such a nice guy he feels like giving them some business and exposure! lol
Eric Brohman theres shitty matins and shitty tailors lol. Acoustics are too unique to pick a better one, at least i think
James Shotwell Agreed...
I guess my point coming from the standpoint of s guitar tech is that wood combined with care/setup and environmental factors makes acoustics a different beast. all he ever wants to do is play and sing!!!
He uses it for a lot of opening songs.
That girl in the front had a flip phone, how technology has advanced in a few short years
Amazing video - thanks Drew! PS - anyone have any hints for the two chords he's playing in the intro?
It's the end of "Dont Drink the Water". Could easily put a Tool 'Sober' tag on it. Surprised Stefan hasn't at least done it.

this video should be titled: great versions of bartender and crush. best bartender intro ever is Radio city no doubt
Lyrics are kinda similar too (to 'Sober") - "I am just an...." That sorta thing.
I thought the same thing!
Cross me with the things you do....
All the best version schtuff is opinion
Best intro? debatable
Did you guys not hear Warren say how far he had to travel out of his way to make it there? Give the dude some effin credit man, he was probably tired as shit!!!!
you should check out the vegas version, its just plain awesome!
Great version but a much better is from live at radio city... He opened the show with it and raised the roof...
Radio City shy of missing a few songs is about the best it can get.
It's more the words than anything else #dMbfamily
Just enjoy the dam video its great! lol
Who the f*** put an ad in the middle of this?
BEF>Barrender can only be the best intro
Fucken great tune
appalachain state university with Tim reynolds is best bartender. hands down
The intro in the central park NYC concert it's a much better one IMO
they didn't play Bartender in Central Park
What about Live in Vegas??? Fucking awesome
Citrix-
Maybe a D9
It's a d+
It's good....I don't know about the best. It's the same intro that he plays around with going into Warehouse at Piedmont 07
There is definitely something special about that guy but i do have to say.....where was the rest of the band?
Definitely NOT the best intro he's ever done to bartender.. just sayin.. Radio City is WAY Better.
I would have to agree.. Radio City is one of the best shows I've ever seen!
I have to agree as well, Tim has a brilliant slide ability
They're too different to really compare. I agree that this intro is better only because there's actual words. At Radio City, he does his usual "moaning" with is AWESOME, but this one's just different. I prefer this one.
yeah I agree with this
I think the Radio City version intro is "Peter Gabriel - Passion" just in a different key. He does this same song/intro in Dave-Tim Warehouse's too but it's the actual key of Peter's song.
sounds just like Warehouse at Piedmont....
David Testoni very similar \
the intro sounded like "TOOL"; Sober.
Intro is Warehouse.
Where was this ?
Warren Haynes hosts The Christmas Jam every year at the Orange Peel in Asheville, NC. It was there some year or another..
Where's that re-encoding that was promised in the vid description?
I dont know...I think I still prefer the radio city version for epic shouting. good though
link to that please?
link please?
does anyone have the lyrics for this intro?? I can't understand Dave's mumble
He is mumbling half the time
It's not from "dreamed i killed god". These lyrics are improvised
In 2006 i can guarentee Dave wouldnt be able to remember any of the lyrics to that song
lmfao, I scrolled down the comments and finally found someone who was able to write down what sounds like it
Can someone transcribe what he's saying in the intro? Sometimes it's difficult to make out what Dave's saying for a non-English speaker.
where is this concert>
best ever ? I'd say the bartender in LA the night LeRoi died was the best. ever.
joseph sites YES YES YES! You are 100% right on about that. I'm having difficulty finding that recording on RUclips. You know if its up? I've tried a few different key words, but no luck.
