I discovered this band in 1993 as a 6th grader and I've never looked back. Greatest band of all time imo. I live in Washington and have seen them 25+ times at the Gorge. My first concert was in Portland 97'. They have played such a huge role in my life. This song breaks my heart and brings back old memories of Leroi. I miss you Grux! 😪😥
I am an everyday listener. DMB fills the voids in my soul. After 20+ years of listening....I have to say I really feel like they are more authentic with each year. I was fortunate to see them at the Gorge in 2008, and the emotion was HUGE. I can't tell you how but on N2 I got row 12 seats, center stage. Nothing will ever compare. On this the 25 anniversary I can't wait to be there. Every year at the Gorge the absence of LeRoi is acknowledged and felt. So very grateful to take the stage for "us" after he left. To play in the most magical places again and again. Every year there is that one moment I look forward to. N1 at sunset. I remember when there was only one night.... :) I am blessed.
The epitome of a team. This incredible art that they create, and call music, is a very small yet telling testament to the Dave Matthews Band and what they are about. To our late and very dear friend, LeRoi Moore... Forever rest in peace, and rest safely. You are still so very much missed, but always in our hearts.
I was 8 feet from Roi during this and it was last time I got to see him play with the band. This was a special moment, the improv during this is stellar, something they've lacked the last few years
Rashawn Ross' solo is transcendent. I listen to it and my mind goes to the 24th Psalm. and I can visualize it. Lift up your heads, O gates! and be lifted up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is this King of Glory? The Lord, strong and mighty, the Lord, mighty in battle! Lift up your heads, O gates! and lift them up O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is this King of Glory? The Lord of hosts, he is the King of Glory! Those are heavenly sounds!!
Dennis Mullen when I first entered recovery yrs ago, I was actually afraid to listen to the music that I had appreciated so much beforehand. After only a few months though, I felt a strength like I had never known before. It was like actually being born into a new life (I was in a different, beautiful geographic area as well). God's Spirit saved my life and even showed me that this music I had loved so much was ok to listen to lol. He gave these musicians the artistic gifts they have, IMO and not everything I listen to has to be speaking directly about God. Because with the strength He provides, it's ok! That was over 17 years ago and He has helped me to a life way beyond anything I could imagine. Was almost homeless and now have an awesome wife of 14 yrs and 2 precious daughters. I'm not religious but His Spirit is everything to me and I'm so grateful he showed me this music is a gift to us from Him. ✌️🤘👆👊
This is really on another level for him. He's a brilliant musician, and my understanding is he brings more to the band than just another horn, but I rarely hear a solo from him quite on par with this one.
Wow, I remember when I first heard this on the CD release, I fell in love Dave's variation when he sang "I saw light shine in distance out of the dark, I wonder could I stand in..." I hit the replay button at least 10 times in that instant. The guys sounds so excellent. I'm glad you found this and were in a sharing mood. I love seeing Roi again. I love you Roi!! Thanks so much birderdj.
Miss ya ROI. DMB was just never the same for me after he passed. They were firing on all cylinders June 2008. Really was the rebirth of the band after 2006/2007... Roi was such a huge part of that. Glad he went out on top of his game.
Dave singing I saw light, Rashawn's trumpet playing was on another level, hearing Roi play sax, all of the playing until you get to Carter's drums as the last heartbeats at end. Perfect
This is a great version of the song, and if you like this one, check out the 16 minute one from Piedmont Park. It is simply amazing. Nothing can calm my nerves better than the last 6 minutes of that version.
We were lucky to be at SPAC that night and saw this one live. The build up to Rashawn's solo from the 6:00 mark was incredible, and he just blew the roof off. The rest of the show was superb, but this Dreaming Tree was off the hook.
I so love this track - my first DMB album was Before these Crowded Streets - amazing and the musicianship .. Carter Beaufort especially, what a drummer
Goosebumps that night when I was there and when I listen to it tonight in my living room. I still remember the first time I heard BTCS. Amazing album, amazing song. Thank you for sharing. -Anthony
On the cork to his wine are written the first stanza of this song. My eight-year-old read those lines and said they were pure poetry. I couldn't agree more.
He sure could. No one could ever take his place, but Jeff does a damn good job. I couldn't think of anyone more qualified for the position.... but I sure do miss Roi...
AMEN!! Big ass shoes to fill! He does as much justice to The Grux as humanly possible! Need more proof? Check out Lying In The Hands Of God from Austin City 2009. Yes indeed....
the universe exist two inches behind my forhead. so if I decide to get rid of the people who gave this song a thumbs down. then... they would simply be gone😂
Easily the best dreaming tree ever thanks to Rashawn. One of my top 5 Dave live moments. Wow. They need to bring back the Rashawn solo on this tune.. the endless Jeff penny whistle solo has got to go. Come on guys.
This is the best version of this song I have ever seen
Dave coming back to hit the note with Rashawn at 9:25 is what you call a perfect musical moment.
This song and performance are as close to perfect as I can imagine.
Love the passion in his voice in this song. Almost like he lived this story.

This is the most beautiful thing I have ever heard

i still don't understand how a simply song can make me feel the way i feel
This is my favorite song! Ever! I would get seats upfront and scream play the dreaming tree!!!! Lmao! Then they played it for me! Unreal!! Love them!

Great song! Easily top 5.
Absolutely brilliant. Made my night. RIP Roi. DMB.
On the cork to his wine are written the first stanza of this song. My eight-year-old read those lines and said they were pure poetry. I couldn't agree more.

It's touching deep inside...unique thing.
When Carter plays 4 over 7... ahhh :)
and sings harmony....my brain hurts
the lyrics is just poetic and beautiful
Leroi had his accident 9 days after this performance.. Sad stuff.. The man could jam...
He sure could. No one could ever take his place, but Jeff does a damn good job. I couldn't think of anyone more qualified for the position.... but I sure do miss Roi...

It’s these people who make for music like this to exist
love this song.
Those were the days......
Roi Always brought the best out of Rashawn. Their variations to jams is still being countinued by Rashawm and Jeff. RIP Roi!!!
Cold chills !!!!!!
Rashawn's solo is touched by God. I feared he would burst a blood vessel in his head.
Easily the best dreaming tree ever thanks to Rashawn. One of my top 5 Dave live moments. Wow. They need to bring back the Rashawn solo on this tune.. the endless Jeff penny whistle solo has got to go. Come on guys.

Am I the only person who hears the resemblance of the intro to this to Garden by Pearl Jam? I'd love to hear the two bands do a colab !
