Could you possibly review the new 9mm Fisheye body cap lens? It's twice the price as this one, but still fairly cheap to experiment with. Would love to hear your thoughts...
I come to Blunty because he photographs the same scenery as I do around the Sydney CBD. I enjoy also the quirky gear he likes to play with. In this case however, he has excelled himself. This is by far the best review of this lens cap anywhere online or in print. I get the impression that he was the only reviewer to actually “get it” about this lens. I agree that this, and the wider version, are great additions to the camera bag. Great for making the camera appear to be a point and shoot, and thus get ignored by most people, allowing for more discrete photography, and therefore getting shots that might not be as easy to get with a more noticeable camera.
Thank you for the review. I've been in deep trouble with this lens, not knowing what to do with it and kinda hating the fact that I even have it haha. You have restored my faith in this thing and I shall go have fun with it on the next sunny day! Which, to be fair, probably won't happen until May because I live in Finland.... but I shall be looking forward to that day!
Very well done, Blunty - this review takes the body cap lens to the point it's made for: pure fun, like lomography ...and it fits that shooting style very well. Today t seems to me (most but not all) people are just testshooters for the lens industry and try to have the sharpest lenses, the lowest ISO noise and all that stuff that doesnt make a really good photo. This lens has more potential for honest expression, emotion and good feelings about life than many other dxo top rated "highest quality" lenses. Isn't it funny that so many shots taken with this lens on the net have so much more true meaning than "good quality" shots? People, go out and have fun instead of massively shooting gear marketing testphotos... even the smallest and lightest camera will do it, like Casio Exilim, Olympus XZ-2, Panasonic GF1, a Lomo or this body cap lens!
I love, love, LOVE shooting with the bodycap lens with my trusty old Olympus EPL-1! I could go a full day (or two) just shooting with this little fella & it never disappoints me in taking quick snaps! It's a real fun lens. Hell, it's better than the Holga lens! Come to think it, it's like going back to using 35mm disposables (minus the processing film wait). Blunty was right about shooting with filters with this sucker: it just adds more fun and daring experimentation.
I love the black and white pictures. I just punched a hole in the body cap of my Nikon DSLR and use that to take pictures sometimes. Like a pinhole camera, but it's not very sharp. This is an excellent idea. Love that Olympus camera too btw.
Great video. I purchased this lens yesterday used for $30 CDN. Great deal. Very compact and I found out myself before watching the video that the art modes are really amazing with this lens on my M5. Horrible at night even though the M5 is supposed to have 5 axis stabilization. Do you have something for the 300 mm
many people dont like this lens! but you know what? for street photographer like me love this lens so much! this is my first comment for Blunty3000 because of this lens! blunty love your channel respect for you dude!
Bought one, for 49,90 Eur I might add, and indeed it was definitely worth it. Getting the focus just right can be a bit difficult but other that that I can't find anything to complain, considering the price.
Looks like I am going to get myself an E-PL5, I have been in love with the Olympus Pen series for a few months now and you just keep adding to my lust for them with every Pen related video you make! Love you Blunty! Not Physically because that would make us both feel awkward. I think an E-High five would be satisfactory. Ps: I don't ever use my D7000 any more since I bought my D600 and I want a camera I can take everywhere. So what is the point in keeping the D7000.

This was great, when I has read about this lans all has been very bad, but this video did get me to realize that there is no bad lane and only lack of inspiration. I shall buy this lens just to learn to be more creative and and playful, thank you.
4:55 sliding the camera across that table is jerky, made me think of a quick design you know the screw hole that 90% of cameras have that is used for tripods is there a gadget that you could screw on and make this smooth? :3 like getting a toy car and drilling a bolt into it then bolting it to the camera XD
That's what is cool about photography. It is about the photographer and not the equipment. But what's interesting about your doing with in camera Filters now a days is what people used to do in the dark room. Just less Chemicals now. lol
"There are a bunch of body cap type lenses" Well, no actually, this is the ONLY lens of its type for the micro four thirds system. But please, feel free to give me the model numbers of the others If you know different.
This was one of my first m4/3 lenses I bought on first day for its cheap price. I don't leave camera ever without a lens, so bodycap (or BCL) are useless for that. But I know I want to release steam now and then from serious shooting and force myself to "cheap range" with unique "mojo" with it. And this lens does exactly that! This is manufactured by olympus but sharp people can spot that this isn't a "Zuiko" lens at all, so even olympus doesn't market it to their cheapest line of lenses but it is below that! But nevertheless this lens is F.U.N! It is the lens to take with you for walking trips and to bar as it forces you to raise ISO and shoot cool shots. It is a lens what every one should give to their kids as first lens, force them to think and compose shots and use only two position (and everything between) mode with their friends. Lots of fun for them! Can't do more than agree with Bunty and say BUY IT!
I still don't understand... why does being cheap mean good for art filters? Wouldn't a normal 15mm prime serve the same purpose but be able to do other, more versatile shooting? I would rather spend the $50 on something like a lensbaby.
1; not a lens. 2; not made for this camera. 3; again, pinhole' are not the same thing, at all. 4; not made for this camera. 5, see 1 & 3. As I said, this is the only lens of its type being made for this system... Suggesting the same 2 things 5 times won't change that. I can mount almost ANY lens to my m4/3 via adapters, that does not mean its made for it Pinholes are DIFFERENT, theY do not correct for aberration, do not allow re-focus, they are not anywhere NEAR f8 & do not allow a shallow DOF
Haha, nice saying! The holga lens is really shitty, however i bought it since it‘s even cheaper, only 150Chinese yuan (24USD), and surprisingly found that it can produce really interesting pictures with ep3's grainy film art filter ;D
Actually: I don't even use it anymore. I went with mirrorless because it was small but with a larger sensor and interchangeable lenses, then came the Q7 (Perfect mix of both) ... Sorry M4/3 :)
Thanks for the review. It, and the ikkle lens, has brought a smile to the face of a grouchy old mid-midlife crisis old bastard. Things are indeed looking up!
Buy this lens or you're so severely depressed you're a danger to society xD Duly noted, Blunty. :) I've already got one of the CCTV lenses. Those things are just loads of fun for the price.
This guy is good. Allways fun, no nonsens and right to the point.

Got & reviewed already quite some time back

Hey Blunty any chance of getting your hands on the Olympus 60mm and giving that lens a review?

Coronation hotel, next to woolies on park st. Most bar tenders call it the corro.
I got this lens back in December, and it is a pretty amazing street shooter for B&W photography.
Really good review and some good pictures too, thank you!
Just like my old Olympus Pen half-frame with fixed focus. Except that one had adjustable apertures and a fixed shutter speed (1/60 for the flash).
Which lens is more fun .. the BCL 15 or the previously reviewed 35mm Fujian TV lens?
Thanks for the review. In fact, I bought a PEN camera to use this lens. Having a lot of fun.
You the man Blunty! After watching this review, I bought one for my GX1... Haven't taken it off since!
Hmm this seems comparable to the 40mm 2.8 XS from Pentax, except that's longer. But the size factor and fun to use aspects are there :D
Great reveiw, didn't think about lens like this could be useful in anyway :D awsome vid.

Ah my mistake. Typed in just "60 mm" in the search on your page and it didn't yield any results. I see it now though.
Bought one, for 49,90 Eur I might add, and indeed it was definitely worth it. Getting the focus just right can be a bit difficult but other that that I can't find anything to complain, considering the price.
just took some nice pictures with this lens today. sunny day + ep3's dramatic tone art filter, simply epic! ;D
Found one for $40. Boom. Nice extra lens for my coming holiday. A bit wider than my Summilux 25mm f1.4 on an OM-D :)
Nothing like Sydney Australia. Great video . I have this lens . I must admit it's very different.. Thanks

This looks like fun! But instead of a m4/3rds I got an nex, so pretty much no selection glass aside from sony and a few sigma lenses...
Would you please make a review of Sony Xperia z camera ???
Love the show every time
Great review. I have this "lens" and love it.
I love the draw of this lens.
Great review! I have said lens, and love it! Great for time-lapse too! i agree it works great with the art filters.
4:55 sliding the camera across that table is jerky, made me think of a quick design you know the screw hole that 90% of cameras have that is used for tripods is there a gadget that you could screw on and make this smooth? :3 like getting a toy car and drilling a bolt into it then bolting it to the camera XD
does the lens take front filters? Only joking :)
That's what is cool about photography. It is about the photographer and not the equipment. But what's interesting about your doing with in camera Filters now a days is what people used to do in the dark room. Just less Chemicals now. lol
one of the greatest lenses ever made - facts
yeah right
So it's totally worth?
I bought it early ,and expensive. But this lens image quality is very nice,I was very surprised!Only the aperture is too small, inconvenient...
Try searching before asking. I reviewed that months ago
That's actually got me really pumped
Very good review!
the joke about measuring system was so awsome xD totally agree!
Great video...BTW, funner is not a word...😀
"There are a bunch of body cap type lenses" Well, no actually, this is the ONLY lens of its type for the micro four thirds system.
But please, feel free to give me the model numbers of the others If you know different.
This lens look perfect for amusement park day for the kids :)
I enjoy mine immensely :)
I like it, had a film quality to it!!
Cool lens, thanks.
Frolicking... @5:24... I see what you did there! LOL
Bottom line: dont judge a lens by its size. Good review mate!

I have the 9mm version
I still don't understand... why does being cheap mean good for art filters? Wouldn't a normal 15mm prime serve the same purpose but be able to do other, more versatile shooting? I would rather spend the $50 on something like a lensbaby.
that lens looks fun. :-)
Canon do not make any Micro Four Third system cameras... so, no.
I actually enjoy this lens
hmm...a fan of Futurama i see?
1; not a lens. 2; not made for this camera. 3; again, pinhole' are not the same thing, at all. 4; not made for this camera. 5, see 1 & 3.

Every cent.
Actually: I don't even use it anymore. I went with mirrorless because it was small but with a larger sensor and interchangeable lenses, then came the Q7 (Perfect mix of both) ... Sorry M4/3 :)
My lens had 3 click stops - then it didn’t.
I also think it is a toy before, but it realy is a “lens”
Hilarious ...and informative! Like like
HAH THAT'LL SHOW 'EM!!! .... wait... what?
Lens = Purchased!
Thanks for the review. It, and the ikkle lens, has brought a smile to the face of a grouchy old mid-midlife crisis old bastard. Things are indeed looking up!
Its funny I still watch these even though I couldnt give 2 shits about cameras
Buy this lens or you're so severely depressed you're a danger to society xD

I've already got one of the CCTV lenses. Those things are just loads of fun for the price.
Scruffy? The janitor?
lol that used to be my user name :P
"Thinner than an anorexic stick insect with the flu."
That got a laugh out of me.
NO YOU WON'T, you will not catch me next time.
Thinner than an anorexic stick insect with the flu? What a great description. From the south?
i'll buy it but i wont use it muahahahhaahahahahahaahah
It's a toy lol.
