I think it's unlikely the _whole_ Arkane Studios gets shut down because it has 2 branches: Austin (which _made_ Redfall) and Lyon. If any one the 2 should get shut down that would be Arkane *Austin* especially after spending over 5 years to become "that".
To be honest I love this game. The final fight against Jeffrey Epstein was outstanding, no game can replicate this experience like the great hit game Jedi: Survivor.
It's kind of sad that earlier Star Wars games like Jedi Academy were better at selling the power fantasy of being a Jedi than Jedi Survivor, and Academy came out almost twenty years ago.
To be fair, you're playing as a padawan who was like 12 when the jedi order was decimated and spent his life in hiding until the events of the first game. It's not even trying to be a power fantasy, the whole game is literally just about trying to survive.

what you just described is how ive felt about the market for years. for example i like elden ring but i dont think its as good as everyone says it is and it definitely didnt deserve goty but when you compare it to the other nominees its like wow is this a joke? no wonder it won. Generally with souls like games, the devs just do not have the ability for imagination and creativity, so they copy other formulas like souls and then at that point we be like seen it done it, boring! It's rare to actually find creativity in games like this. They're trying to do it methodically, scientifically, with certainty - but creativity doesn't work this way at all. And as the gaming is dominated by businessman, they cannot possibly allow themself to take risks and accept experimental scenarios, taking it safe, copying the success. The ONLY things they can actually make is details and voice actors, it's the only things that don't necessarily require creativity, which is probably why we see super-duper ultra detailed environment. If only people saw that, and rejected such methods of making games, we could've had a whole different situation right now, with innovation and experiments, as it was in 80s, 90s and 2000s. But this is long gone now, people are too easily swayed by the graphics and copy-pasted features.

@CdmanJak not really. If you think about it, Starkiller's story was organic. He started off as a cruel, merciless assassin; killing Jedi and fighters for good without remorse. After killing more and more, he realized he had a more important purpose to serve for the good of the galaxy. He helped rescue the Rebel leaders he previously duped into a trap and sacrificed his life, so they would bring freedom to the Galaxy. Classic. It's canon to me, but not to Disney.

Seeing other games do something similar to the OG DarkBloodSoulEldenSekiro games makes you appreciate how streamlined those games are. Dodge rolls and attacks have exactly the amount of frames you expect them to. It feels responsive. When you get hit, your timing was off. Evidenced by people doing level 1 runs of Dark Souls, you CAN avoid every single hit, it's just hard. Then some company tries to copy and it turns out bad.
Eh, no, it doesn't; they don't have what I "expect" them to, it's unresponsive and counter-intuitive. That said, yes, you can eventually break yourself of reasonable expectations and learn the game to a T, sure, but it's annoying as shit that virtually nothing goes like you'd expect it to right off the bat.

Weird thing is, in Fallen Order you could. From the video here, looks like you can switch only between 2, the first game had 3 and you switch between all of them. Very weird design choice on their part.

I haven't touched the new one yet (gonna wait a cool 2 years on it or something, until they fix everything, remove Denuvo, discount it), but I'm surprised they brought back the atrocious hitboxes from the first. If there was one thing they should have improved, it's definitely this.
The main thing I noticed when I booted up the game was the way it felt, it felt very choppy but got used to it quickly. The story was very nice for me getting to see the conflict with cal and him trying to not turn to the dark side and remembering the past and all the memories from the old game. Once those bug fixes get implemented into the game it’ll be very good and definitely better feeling. Least favorite thing was the big creatures I played on the hardest difficulty and got one shot by everything so that was fun. I like this review it does show the flaws of the game and you point them out well, good video.
I am glad you don't completely hate this game because it really is one of my favorites as a massive Star Wars fan. I ate up Fallen Order and Survivor didn't run bad on my Xbox at all on launch day. The story was actually immaculate and surprisingly, was surprising. Most Star Wars media nowadays is so predictable and boring, but JS actually had me on the edge of my seat. Such a great game

@@wthjinx1449 Most reviews are maybe 5-8 minutes long which I don’t find comprehensive at all. It’s basically only enough time to say what you can already see/assume in trailers. Because you have to cover so many parts of the game in that time that gameplay doesn’t get covered in any depth. They’re virtually useless reviews, that’s partly why people just skip to the number/rating. Because that score does a better job conveying what they think than what they actually say. “Are you not gonna play a game because he doesn’t like it?” No, that’s stupid. I’m not gonna rewatch to check for this specifically, but the difference is he typically explains why he does/doesn’t like something in detail. And if what he describes bothers me, I’ll make a note of it. If not, I won’t worry. Most reviews are surface level where I wouldn’t even know [insert info] because they briefly mention it exists, and moves on. Not all games are long or all that complex, so a shorter review will suffice, but others could use more detail and simply don’t get it. Simply because they have an arbitrary quota to stay within a certain bracket for every review regardless. And some RUclipsrs follow that pattern because they saw/learned it from watching big sites do it (which probably did it because it gains the most watch time at that length, and means getting to another review quicker, rather than because it serves the game/viewer well). Not saying reviews should be an hour long or anything either, but they should probably be closer to 12-15 minutes to have enough time to introduce various things _and_ explain them in enough detail to better represent the game. We can _see_ a lot, and most of that is what’s talked about in reviews, but we can’t see the controls or feel what it’s like to play. That needs more explanation and it rarely does.
Honestly as a star wars fan, i love this game. Compared to other games that came out since the new gen era that are $70, its definetly worth the buy on console (not pc as of now) and its a must buy for star wars fans. Btw modern games are not worth $70. Also, the this game is definetly much better than the first, it improved in a lot or ways so the third game should be a masterpiece starwars game if they keep this up.
I was thinking the same thing, the animations look worse than Fallen Order. I just completed that game recently and was about to get Jedi Survivor, and just by looking at the way the character moves in combat looks pretty bad. Also the effects on the light saber when it hits an enemy there is barely any sparks at all. Doesn't look satisfying to swing the saber around, but hopefully mods will fix that eventually.
There have been so many "soulslike" games already, Elden Ring being the latest "hyped up" one, most players are getting sick of it. Games like this one all have the same thing in common : Story : zero, Gameplay : bugridden , Combat : repetitive , Character depth : none. I think it's about time some developer gets an idea what "open world" should feel and look like : A great story, engaging characters, terrific (not always 'challenging') combat and amazing graphics that don't look washed out. Oh, and don't forget to lose the "parry to win" mechanic.

Modern gaming is so depressing. They've sucked the joy out of every facet of it. From greedy developers, shitty studios, greedy hardware companies. It's impossible to build a mid grade PC for under $800 and run games at high settings anymore. Even if you could, the games are so broken and unoptimized it wouldn't matter.
Yeah, because nothing makes you feel like a Jedi more than swinging a lightsaber around like a lunatic, hitting everything in sight about 1,000 times each, and waiting for your mana---I mean FORCE bar to replenish.
I think the weirdest part of the combat is that enemies even have healthbars. It's a lightsaber. It isn't something you can shrug off. But you'll see regular raiders somehow blocking and taking dozens of hits from a lightsaber and not really reacting. Lightsaber fights have always ended after you break the guard and land the strike. Qui-Gon went down from the first strike, and so did Maul. Anakin got his hand removed and then the fight between him an Dooku was over. Disney likes to play fast and loose with what a lightsaber can and cannot do. For example, no matter what the Mandalorian tells you, Beskar will not block a lightsaber. Or blaster bolts. Is it more resistant to basters? Yes. Impervious? No. Some Stormtroopers even have a shield that can block blasters and lightsabers and I have to wonder, what is the point of that? They're trained soldiers already covered from head to toe in armor, they should be using cover, not a dinner plate. Seriously. Lightsabers went from a weapon that will kill you if you allow it to land to a glowing baseball bat. And while we're at it why are the Empire portrayed the way they are? The soldiers are just standing around in random places in small groups, standing at the edges of cliffs. Why aren't they storming Rebel bases? What are they doing out in the wild? These games leave out the best part of Star Wars. The Wars.
Disney even disallowed lightsaber dismemberment. You know, something that has been featured from the very beginning of the franchise until Disney wolfed it? Yeah, nope, not allowed. Disney lightsabers are just the police batons from Futurama now. And thosr were meant to be parodies. Disney Star Wars is a trite parody of Star Wars.
Before this game was released I had an idea how to fix the combat. Just don't have health bars. Only have a stance meter. If you don't press the block button, you do a desperation move that blocks the enemy's attack and you lose a lot of your meter. If you do block, you strain yourself blocking and lose some of the bar. If you block perfectly, you inflict stance damage and receive none yourself. If your bar is too low and you fail to perfect block, you lose your stance and have a short cooldown where you can't get hit, you have to physically avoid hits, or you instantly die. Instead of health kits you could have a limited number of Force ability to refill your stance, to "refocus" so to speak. Also, obviously, any enemy that can't avoid or block a superheated plasma blade is killed with one hit, unless the creature is really big, or a droid that just loses a limb. Then it gets injured, and you can find a window to deal a killing blow.
I don't get why most of these Western action "RPGs" [looking at you, Hogwarts Legacy, Forbidden West, and nu-AC] give you AI companions with decently fleshed-out movesets, but not fully playable party members. Hell, even FFXVI is doing it.

After that nope. Not anymore. People requested casino in GTAO yet i don't see anyone playing it anymore. So as other things. It is nice to have but you clearly see that just minority would love to be in it which bunch of everyone else don't use it anymore. Back in GTA SA i got in 2004 i only used few times gang members and not anymore. And some of those times were just required for 2 missions.

Games are really all about playing in a pre-made play area with specific tools, and there's a logic to both of those things people often ignore or don't understand.
Fallen Order was okay as a game by itself, but because of how entrenched it is into Disney Wars canon I ultimately did not have much love for it and I sadly don’t care much for Survivor either by proxy. Only reason I even played Fallen in the first place was because a friend lent it to me. Frankly I’ll stick with the games from the actual canon, Force Unleashed (ignoring the second game) and the Jedi Knight games (Jedi Academy still plays extremely well despite its age).

He shows up and says he’s only there for Cere even though she’s completely irrelevant, and then just fucks off. If he’s there because his job is to kill any remaining Jedi then why didn’t he care about Cal? He’s been actively causing problems for the empire, but Vader is only interested in killing Cere… That was kinda stupid.
And vader did not really look powerful in this game he was beaten nearly to death he is meant to be the most scary and powerful but nearly died to a will smith's wife look alike.

Vader didn’t know if Cal was still alive. He also wasn’t just there for Cere, but to kill whoever was at the base and destroy the archives. She just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time.

9:03 I am just gonna correct a small thing, all the stances can parry via pressing L1 the thing that makes the dual wield interesting to use is that you can cancel out of any atk animation you are in by either just pressing L1 or by actually just normal parry which also just cancel out of your atk animation
The Cere part towards the end is such a blatant Blackrock mandated 'girl power' moment, especially considering who they had to emasculate to make it happen.
Why Disney is obsessed with cramming everything into the small window of time of "Original Trilogy or thereabouts" is beyond me. Literally nothing of consequence can happen, because we have to account for the movies. I miss the old days, when we had games like Knights of the Old Republic 1 and 2 (3,000 years before the Prequels), and Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy (New Jedi Order, with Luke as Grand Master at his new academy on Yavin IV)-games before the dark times; games before Disney.
I'm glad you mentioned the stupidity of making a great sword light saber being slow to swing. I get that it needs to have some kind of drawback or it would make the normal saber obsolete, but weight? That's just a braindead effort.
As a Star Wars fan and nerd, Lightsabers are not just beams of light. They also have mass and have weight to them. But yes I agree with you, the crossgaurd is too slow for this game.

As a Souls fan, I have to say I'm tired of souls combat. The Souls games are great but we have those games and I'm just sick of everyone copying each other's game design just because they see one game is popular they say to themselves "I can do that too" it's just completely over saturating the market with let's be honest inferior versions of souls. And I agree with you about the Uncharted/Tomb Raider climbing it really doesn't need to be in every game and it's 100% padding game time just like the puzzles.

I don’t agree with that at all, only hit boxes that are crazy is bode grab and rayvis sling. I played on gm beat it entirely on it actually different situations need different styles. The difficulty does spike yes but parrying trivialize all of it or switching To a different stance

I loved both games, but how is Fallen Order balanced bro. Late game Cal rips Trilla’s spine out in a matter of a minute even on grandmaster. Spamming slow, the dual wield force attack and BD replenishing your force meter to full after every stim breaks the game completely. You scale into oblivion in that game.
@@wthjinx1449 I think some red attacks are purposely made to be double jumped for the players who don’t have the exact frame reactions to do a perfect evade on the homing missile attacks (like me). It was frustrating at first, but after learning about the jumping over his grab mechanic it actually always meant literal free damage for me.

Have you gotten around to trying Sifu yet? There is a learning curve to it, but I think you'd like it. If you want the real experience, don't do the training mode, but if you're getting frustrated, it's a good supplement.
I’ve honestly really liked the game as one of the few remaining Star Wars fans, performance is annoying but it works fine. Makes good additions to the first game, gameplay was fun, story was pretty cool with the ties to other Star Wars lore. Probably some of the only good stuff under Disney.
I agree. After beating it, I honestly don’t see how the story and characters can be considered badly written. I also didn’t think the dialogue even reached Marvel tier like Synthetic claimed. Just a few attempts at humor that fall flat.

I will admit compared to the first game where it’s opening directly tied into the rest of the narrative this story was not as well connected it still put foreword a lot of good creative ideas consistently even if it was a bit slow around the middle
I've been using the dual wield sabers the entire game. I think they are by far the best stance. The attacks don't do as much damage than the other stances but the swings are a lot faster. You can parry attacks. With a bit of practices it's not too difficult. The best part is that you can easily cancel a combo by pressing block. This stops you from getting locked into a combo. Overall I really liked it.
The fact anyone thought the first was a "good" starwars game to be disappointed by this one is the most baffling part. I only wish I'd "bought" it earlier because it showed exactly the level of writing quality in Kenobi and book of boba Fett. Quintessential Disney Star wars.
i was only able to play a bit on someone else’s console, but i played on grand master and turned on the tweak that adds realistic damage. that makes this game so good imo, because your lightsaber is actually deadly and you can also die really quickly if you make a mistake. it raises the stakes and makes it so much more satisfying because you have that jedi power level
Star Wars died for me back when George Lucas sold the rights to Disney. I too wish Star Wars would just die or go into a very long hibernation because Kathleen Kennedy and Blackrock have ruined this property.

During my playthrough I too felt like there's not enough skill points. After 100% the game, I had 10 skill points I couldn't spent, because I was maxed out already

12:56 - The biggest benefit of the dual stance is being able to cancel attacks into blocks/parries, this helps sooo much in the overwhelming fights and even in the monster boss fights for reacting to fast attack wind-ups. Think that is it's most significant feature and you probably would've had more fun knowing that option is there and when you'd want to switch to it.
I had fun, definitely not anything crazy. I'm more in it for the story of Cal and it being SW. Also played on story mode so I could feel like a badass like it should be. No performance issues on Series X, worth my money
I kinda liked the first one, this looks like more of the same. What I don't like is the soulslike-is-everything-now trend. When it comes to jedi protagonist games - Jedi Outcast and Academy are the better games, and quite frankly, the best. It's funny looking at Survivor and thinking - wow, this game looks sluggish, especially movement and combat. Meanwhile, old games nailed the movement and the feel.

To be honest I love this game. The final fight against Jeffrey Epstein was outstanding, no game can replicate this experience like the great hit game Jedi: Survivor.

It's kind of sad that earlier Star Wars games like Jedi Academy were better at selling the power fantasy of being a Jedi than Jedi Survivor, and Academy came out almost twenty years ago.
To be fair, you're playing as a padawan who was like 12 when the jedi order was decimated and spent his life in hiding until the events of the first game. It's not even trying to be a power fantasy, the whole game is literally just about trying to survive.

It's rare to actually find creativity in games like this. They're trying to do it methodically, scientifically, with certainty - but creativity doesn't work this way at all. And as the gaming is dominated by businessman, they cannot possibly allow themself to take risks and accept experimental scenarios, taking it safe, copying the success. The ONLY things they can actually make is details and voice actors, it's the only things that don't necessarily require creativity, which is probably why we see super-duper ultra detailed environment.
If only people saw that, and rejected such methods of making games, we could've had a whole different situation right now, with innovation and experiments, as it was in 80s, 90s and 2000s. But this is long gone now, people are too easily swayed by the graphics and copy-pasted features.

After killing more and more, he realized he had a more important purpose to serve for the good of the galaxy. He helped rescue the Rebel leaders he previously duped into a trap and sacrificed his life, so they would bring freedom to the Galaxy. Classic. It's canon to me, but not to Disney.

The main thing I noticed when I booted up the game was the way it felt, it felt very choppy but got used to it quickly. The story was very nice for me getting to see the conflict with cal and him trying to not turn to the dark side and remembering the past and all the memories from the old game. Once those bug fixes get implemented into the game it’ll be very good and definitely better feeling. Least favorite thing was the big creatures I played on the hardest difficulty and got one shot by everything so that was fun. I like this review it does show the flaws of the game and you point them out well, good video.

I am glad you don't completely hate this game because it really is one of my favorites as a massive Star Wars fan. I ate up Fallen Order and Survivor didn't run bad on my Xbox at all on launch day. The story was actually immaculate and surprisingly, was surprising. Most Star Wars media nowadays is so predictable and boring, but JS actually had me on the edge of my seat. Such a great game

Because you have to cover so many parts of the game in that time that gameplay doesn’t get covered in any depth. They’re virtually useless reviews, that’s partly why people just skip to the number/rating. Because that score does a better job conveying what they think than what they actually say.

I’m not gonna rewatch to check for this specifically, but the difference is he typically explains why he does/doesn’t like something in detail. And if what he describes bothers me, I’ll make a note of it. If not, I won’t worry. Most reviews are surface level where I wouldn’t even know [insert info] because they briefly mention it exists, and moves on. Not all games are long or all that complex, so a shorter review will suffice, but others could use more detail and simply don’t get it. Simply because they have an arbitrary quota to stay within a certain bracket for every review regardless. And some RUclipsrs follow that pattern because they saw/learned it from watching big sites do it (which probably did it because it gains the most watch time at that length, and means getting to another review quicker, rather than because it serves the game/viewer well).
Not saying reviews should be an hour long or anything either, but they should probably be closer to 12-15 minutes to have enough time to introduce various things _and_ explain them in enough detail to better represent the game. We can _see_ a lot, and most of that is what’s talked about in reviews, but we can’t see the controls or feel what it’s like to play. That needs more explanation and it rarely does.
Honestly as a star wars fan, i love this game. Compared to other games that came out since the new gen era that are $70, its definetly worth the buy on console (not pc as of now) and its a must buy for star wars fans. Btw modern games are not worth $70.
Also, the this game is definetly much better than the first, it improved in a lot or ways so the third game should be a masterpiece starwars game if they keep this up.
For a AAA title, The animations are so janky and weightless. the way he runs, moves, fights, etc. Nothing feels natural
I was thinking the same thing, the animations look worse than Fallen Order. I just completed that game recently and was about to get Jedi Survivor, and just by looking at the way the character moves in combat looks pretty bad. Also the effects on the light saber when it hits an enemy there is barely any sparks at all. Doesn't look satisfying to swing the saber around, but hopefully mods will fix that eventually.

There have been so many "soulslike" games already, Elden Ring being the latest "hyped up" one, most players are getting sick of it. Games like this one all have the same thing in common : Story : zero, Gameplay : bugridden , Combat : repetitive , Character depth : none. I think it's about time some developer gets an idea what "open world" should feel and look like : A great story, engaging characters, terrific (not always 'challenging') combat and amazing graphics that don't look washed out. Oh, and don't forget to lose the "parry to win" mechanic.

I think the weirdest part of the combat is that enemies even have healthbars. It's a lightsaber. It isn't something you can shrug off. But you'll see regular raiders somehow blocking and taking dozens of hits from a lightsaber and not really reacting. Lightsaber fights have always ended after you break the guard and land the strike. Qui-Gon went down from the first strike, and so did Maul. Anakin got his hand removed and then the fight between him an Dooku was over. Disney likes to play fast and loose with what a lightsaber can and cannot do. For example, no matter what the Mandalorian tells you, Beskar will not block a lightsaber. Or blaster bolts. Is it more resistant to basters? Yes. Impervious? No. Some Stormtroopers even have a shield that can block blasters and lightsabers and I have to wonder, what is the point of that? They're trained soldiers already covered from head to toe in armor, they should be using cover, not a dinner plate. Seriously. Lightsabers went from a weapon that will kill you if you allow it to land to a glowing baseball bat. And while we're at it why are the Empire portrayed the way they are? The soldiers are just standing around in random places in small groups, standing at the edges of cliffs. Why aren't they storming Rebel bases? What are they doing out in the wild? These games leave out the best part of Star Wars. The Wars.

Disney even disallowed lightsaber dismemberment. You know, something that has been featured from the very beginning of the franchise until Disney wolfed it? Yeah, nope, not allowed.
Disney lightsabers are just the police batons from Futurama now. And thosr were meant to be parodies. Disney Star Wars is a trite parody of Star Wars.
Before this game was released I had an idea how to fix the combat. Just don't have health bars. Only have a stance meter. If you don't press the block button, you do a desperation move that blocks the enemy's attack and you lose a lot of your meter. If you do block, you strain yourself blocking and lose some of the bar. If you block perfectly, you inflict stance damage and receive none yourself. If your bar is too low and you fail to perfect block, you lose your stance and have a short cooldown where you can't get hit, you have to physically avoid hits, or you instantly die.
Instead of health kits you could have a limited number of Force ability to refill your stance, to "refocus" so to speak. Also, obviously, any enemy that can't avoid or block a superheated plasma blade is killed with one hit, unless the creature is really big, or a droid that just loses a limb. Then it gets injured, and you can find a window to deal a killing blow.
I don't get why most of these Western action "RPGs" [looking at you, Hogwarts Legacy, Forbidden West, and nu-AC] give you AI companions with decently fleshed-out movesets, but not fully playable party members. Hell, even FFXVI is doing it.
Not really worth it. I'm not saying it wouldn't be fun, but that's alot of work and 90% of players would never do it.

Fallen Order was okay as a game by itself, but because of how entrenched it is into Disney Wars canon I ultimately did not have much love for it and I sadly don’t care much for Survivor either by proxy. Only reason I even played Fallen in the first place was because a friend lent it to me. Frankly I’ll stick with the games from the actual canon, Force Unleashed (ignoring the second game) and the Jedi Knight games (Jedi Academy still plays extremely well despite its age).

They threw in a random boss fight with Vader that is literally just to have him in the game. He shows up and says he’s only there for Cere even though she’s completely irrelevant, and then just fucks off. If he’s there because his job is to kill any remaining Jedi then why didn’t he care about Cal? He’s been actively causing problems for the empire, but Vader is only interested in killing Cere… That was kinda stupid.
The whole story for both games is.... not great.

And vader did not really look powerful in this game he was beaten nearly to death he is meant to be the most scary and powerful but nearly died to a will smith's wife look alike.

Vader didn’t know if Cal was still alive. He also wasn’t just there for Cere, but to kill whoever was at the base and destroy the archives. She just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time.

I am just gonna correct a small thing, all the stances can parry via pressing L1 the thing that makes the dual wield interesting to use is that you can cancel out of any atk animation you are in by either just pressing L1 or by actually just normal parry which also just cancel out of your atk animation

I'm glad you mentioned the stupidity of making a great sword light saber being slow to swing. I get that it needs to have some kind of drawback or it would make the normal saber obsolete, but weight? That's just a braindead effort.

As a Souls fan, I have to say I'm tired of souls combat. The Souls games are great but we have those games and I'm just sick of everyone copying each other's game design just because they see one game is popular they say to themselves "I can do that too" it's just completely over saturating the market with let's be honest inferior versions of souls. And I agree with you about the Uncharted/Tomb Raider climbing it really doesn't need to be in every game and it's 100% padding game time just like the puzzles.

I loved both games, but how is Fallen Order balanced bro. Late game Cal rips Trilla’s spine out in a matter of a minute even on grandmaster. Spamming slow, the dual wield force attack and BD replenishing your force meter to full after every stim breaks the game completely. You scale into oblivion in that game.
@@wthjinx1449 I think some red attacks are purposely made to be double jumped for the players who don’t have the exact frame reactions to do a perfect evade on the homing missile attacks (like me). It was frustrating at first, but after learning about the jumping over his grab mechanic it actually always meant literal free damage for me.

Have you gotten around to trying Sifu yet? There is a learning curve to it, but I think you'd like it. If you want the real experience, don't do the training mode, but if you're getting frustrated, it's a good supplement.
I’ve honestly really liked the game as one of the few remaining Star Wars fans, performance is annoying but it works fine. Makes good additions to the first game, gameplay was fun, story was pretty cool with the ties to other Star Wars lore. Probably some of the only good stuff under Disney.
I agree. After beating it, I honestly don’t see how the story and characters can be considered badly written. I also didn’t think the dialogue even reached Marvel tier like Synthetic claimed. Just a few attempts at humor that fall flat.

I will admit compared to the first game where it’s opening directly tied into the rest of the narrative this story was not as well connected it still put foreword a lot of good creative ideas consistently even if it was a bit slow around the middle

I've been using the dual wield sabers the entire game. I think they are by far the best stance. The attacks don't do as much damage than the other stances but the swings are a lot faster. You can parry attacks. With a bit of practices it's not too difficult. The best part is that you can easily cancel a combo by pressing block. This stops you from getting locked into a combo. Overall I really liked it.
The fact anyone thought the first was a "good" starwars game to be disappointed by this one is the most baffling part. I only wish I'd "bought" it earlier because it showed exactly the level of writing quality in Kenobi and book of boba Fett. Quintessential Disney Star wars.

i was only able to play a bit on someone else’s console, but i played on grand master and turned on the tweak that adds realistic damage. that makes this game so good imo, because your lightsaber is actually deadly and you can also die really quickly if you make a mistake. it raises the stakes and makes it so much more satisfying because you have that jedi power level
Star Wars died for me back when George Lucas sold the rights to Disney. I too wish Star Wars would just die or go into a very long hibernation because Kathleen Kennedy and Blackrock have ruined this property.
Apart from performance issues I loved this game. It was fantastic.

During my playthrough I too felt like there's not enough skill points. After 100% the game, I had 10 skill points I couldn't spent, because I was maxed out already

12:56 - The biggest benefit of the dual stance is being able to cancel attacks into blocks/parries, this helps sooo much in the overwhelming fights and even in the monster boss fights for reacting to fast attack wind-ups. Think that is it's most significant feature and you probably would've had more fun knowing that option is there and when you'd want to switch to it.
I had fun, definitely not anything crazy. I'm more in it for the story of Cal and it being SW. Also played on story mode so I could feel like a badass like it should be. No performance issues on Series X, worth my money

I kinda liked the first one, this looks like more of the same. What I don't like is the soulslike-is-everything-now trend. When it comes to jedi protagonist games - Jedi Outcast and Academy are the better games, and quite frankly, the best. It's funny looking at Survivor and thinking - wow, this game looks sluggish, especially movement and combat. Meanwhile, old games nailed the movement and the feel.
This is defintely a nostalgia take and not a practical one. Fallen Order and Survivor combat and movement is way better then the old games.

Jedi Outcast and Academy allow for a fully free movement without contextual restrictions. This includes wallrunning (in all directions). Don't even get me started on the very intricate swordfighting system - evidence of which you can find online. To this day no game has even come close.
Meanwhile Fallen Order and Survivor are completely unlike those games. Here you are slow and plodding. Movement is always input delayed. I mean, it's just a below average dark souls clone, it's not even similar to other entries in the SW gaming sphere lol.
