Thanks Karen, glad you enjoyed the workout! I did also do a music course in my early twenties and got a couple of years of piano lessons included but I'm largely self taught. I find writing these little etudes relatively easy compared to either composing or writing piano arrangements. I put it up as more of a tutorial but quite a few people have said it sounds good so I'm happy it has some musicality as well. Thanks for listening and for your kind comment. I can see how this is an excellent exercise for fluent playing. I have to do vocal exercises for the same reason. They can get boring but are so worth it. It so cool that you compose your own. Sounded great. 😀

Thanks Gareth. I'm delighted to know you played along with it. It's like we've done a duet! I noticed a lot of videos on YT described as 'piano workouts' and thought I'd add my take on the genre. I should have probably written a left hand part and made it a proper piano etude. I've collected patterns and riffs and such for years - classical ones like Hanon and jazz patterns and riffs but I find mixing them together and writing them out like this is the best way to get them under my fingers. I have a book called "Oscsar Peterson's Jazz Exercises, Minuets Etudes & Pieces For Piano," and I really like EXERCISE No.3 in it.

Yes I admire Tatum a lot and agree his version of Tea for Two is incredible. I may have absorbed something from his style but his technique was far beyond what anyone has done before or since. Especially me! but thanks for the wonderful compliment. I think I've taken a lot from Fats Waller too as his playing was so full of joy and humour.
