Thank you to the comments for calling out the grease hate. I'm old and we had grease back in the day and had beautiful hair. Once we went to curls and perms our hair lost the thrive. I started back using it and it is happy and not breaking at all now. The gel is worse than the grease. So yeah everyone encourage and help because everyone has different methods that work. Your hair looks great .
Stop saying how "horrible" it is. To each is own. If it hasn't effected YOUR hair in years then it's just fine. I've been doing a very similar method for over 21yrs and my edges/hair has ALWAYS been thick, long, and healthy. I use an extremely tiny curling iron and Murray's Beeswax grease to smooth my edges, I've never had a problem. My hair has never liked gel, so this was the method I developed because it works for ME. Sometimes I get so annoyed with RUclips because everyone jumps on the bandwagon of what's "good/bad" for natural hair. There is no standard. Everyone's hair and lifestyle is different. If it's not personally having an adverse reaction to YOUR hair, then it's not bad. Do you. If someone else has a problem then common sense should tell them to NOT do it on THEIR hair.
+najmaj I totally agree with you! It is very true that everyone's hair is different and different methods may or may not work for everyone. The reason as to why I stressed the danger of this method is because many people may think that it could work for them and it could be a disaster. I would hate for someone's edges to fall out or whatever because of my video. Though my edges have been able to withstand this method over the years, I do not think that it is "healthy" to do it everyday. I really didn't want anything to go wrong with someone's hair because of my video. RUclips can be annoying when it comes to healthy/unhealthy good/bad thing, but certain things just aren't in hair's best interest to do on a regular basis. I am not a professional by any means, so my opinion is not the only truth/fact. I just stressed how it isn't the best because I don't want someone to harm their hair. Thanks for sharing that fact though, because you are totally right! :)
+Melodie Miller hey love could you please add more hair, skin care routine videos please i miss them ? also could you please try the inversion method and let me know how it goes please? Ive heard many good things about it? +melodiemiller
+Melodie Miller I get so frustrated with the comments on RUclips sometimes lol. People are so dramatic. It's like if they hear one person say "don't use combs on your hair, just finger detangle" then EVERYONE jumps on that bandwagon (no matter how ridiculous). Smh.....I listen to MY hair and do what works for me. Paddles brushes are my best tool. People wonder why their hair isn't flourishing and it's because they're too busy trying to follow someone else hair regimen instead of developing their own. Smh.....Sometimes information overload can do more harm than good. When I went natural there was no "community", everything I did was through trial and error and listening to my own hair. Nowadays it's like the blind leading the blind. Ok, lol enough of my rant. I just hate how people have to constantly put disclaimers when common sense should tell the viewer to use their own discretion.
+najmaj lol everything that you just said is 100% correct! I agree completely. Paddle brushes get my hair detangled like no other lol though some you tubers say they are "bad". I always try to make it known to ppl that the things that I do are what work for me (I try to say it in the nicest way possible). I also make that disclaimer for those who like to comment about how horrible things are lol I want everyone to know to use my videos at your own discretion. The reason why it took me 2 years to make my RUclips channel was bc I was afraid ppl would say what I was doing was stupid or wrong, but then I realized that if its "wrong" for you doesn't mean that it's wrong for me, ya know? Everything that you just said really has me thinking though...thank you :)
+Melodie Miller hey love could you please add more hair, skin care routine videos please i miss them ? also could you please try the inversion method and let me know how it goes please? Ive heard many good things about it? Melodie Miller
Wow Melodie! I don't know how we missed this video, but thank you so much for using our product. This method isn't actually as "unhealthy" as you keep stating because, from what I can see, you don't actually comb through the hair after you allow our gel to dry. Combing through protein gel is what usually causes breakage, especially with the delicate "baby hair." We appreciate you including our gel in your regimen! If you ever desire to try any of our smoothing gels or moisturizing gels, please let me know!
Hi! Well I guess you've proven me wrong! lol I would love to try other products of yours since I've been using your hair gel since I was about 13 years old. ☺️ Feel free to send me an email @ Melodiem15627@gmail.com!
everyone should note she said she only does this TWICE A YEAR. y'all will take this start doing it every day and wonder why your edges broke off! I never put heat to my edges (because their thinning and weak due to gorilla snot and weaves) that hicks edge control is a life saver. Literally my whole head will be silk pressed and i'll have nappy edges....thank god for hicks and headbands!
omg why do so many people complain about her talking the video says life updates. there's also this thing where you can fast forward through parts you don't want to see it's literally not that hard.
Because it's annoying to click on a video which you expect to be about a particular subject, judging from the title, only to be click-baited into a life story...having to keep fast-forwarding...through to five minutes into the video. Annoying.
Love the grease. I stopped using grease because I felt it was old fashioned. But my edges are suffering now. So I for one will return to using grease on my edges.
That is so good that you got a full time teaching position even tho you are not getting paid. It will b worth it especially at this time your still young so u have plenty of time to work and get paid. You'll b so ahead of everyone else next year fresh out of college and already taught a year :)
This was super helpful! My hairstylist did my hair but I sweated out my edges the first night. I don’t have a hot comb or a small straightener but this was easy enough to do with my 1.5 inch hair straightener. Putting edge control on first was the step I needed
You have been missed! I'm so glad to hear about your blessing in your future career. If you have have an updated wash and go routine I'd like to see this. Continue to keep your priorities straight and I look forward to whenever you are able to post another video.
This was a great tutorial. My hair is super thick and pass my bra strap, so I'm always sweating my edges out. Lol but girl I be brushing my my face the same way tryna make sure I got every strain. 😂😂😆😆
I thought your hair was natural and blown out couldn’t tell you had a perm! I’m natural and my hair straightened is very silky straight but the edges get cray cray and don’t blend I’m thinking about relaxing just the edges but idk
Don't know if you found anything yet. But a Brazilian blowout has worked magically on my hair where it even makes it easy for me to wear natural if I want to. Idk how your hair is though, but that may work
jbco is an oil. putting any type of oil on your hair and then putting heat on it is the same thing as putting oil in the pan and frying up some chicken. either way you are damaging your hair. if anything use a heat protectant and follow up with a moisturizer. also beware of gels. some of those gels will literally eat your edges....gorilla snot was the first thing to ever FINALLY lay my edges till my stylist pointed out that they were breaking and i had bald spots....she told me it was my edge control had to much alcohol in it...smh
she is cool or whatever but why is she taking so long to show up how to Slick your edges finally have my own life to think about and why do I have to care about her no offense I just want to know about the process and how she did it that's it
The wording in the title should be reversed, because you talked so much about personal issues first, then got to the business of the hair tutorial. I did fast forward until I found the information about the hair. If you haven't already since this video, maybe you should consider adding a note about what topic begins where. Anyway, hair grease works fine for me and has since childhood, I've never used it with edge control. I've been natural for nearly two years, and I'll give your method a try as I just finished my twice a year flat ironing session and wanted to smooth my edges with the minor waves that I get from gel alone, and I was trying to see what else is used, other than hairspray. *EDITED TO ADD* - After watching the video, I remember using Murray's wax a few months ago to help slick down my natural edges, so I tried it on my flat ironed hair today, along with a little of the Bronner Brothers light grease, and a tiny amount of The Mane Choice (Laid Back Effortlessly) edge control, and so far so good. :)
Literally they can wet they’re they don’t have to worry about it bluffing up...we have to bonnits and have to most of the time wear braids and can’t really even dye our hair😭😭
See this is the one step I never have to do. My baby hairs lay down on their own, even when I want them pulled back. It's the most irritating thing. Jell doesn't hold them back either, if anything when my hair is straight, it causes them to lay, but do little spiral curl at the end of them. I already have a baby face, and this just makes me look twelve. 22 and in church having the elders scold me for not being in Sunday school, lol. They're then shocked when I tell them I'm grown.I.d Carded always my dear, even to see a R rated movie. There is no forgetting an I.D for me. That is my life.

Yay to you, my mom was a teacher (Kindergarten), but now she's retired :)). Thank you for the video info. : ))
Great tutorial! I do similarly. But I skip the flat iron & just do the oil, gel, & tie down combo! Thanks for sharing yours very helpful! 😆
Thanks! 😊

yes hicks on CLEAN , straightened hair 4C will slick it back
I do it like once a month and have for years, and my edges have never broken off because of something like this
omg why do so many people complain about her talking the video says life updates. there's also this thing where you can fast forward through parts you don't want to see it's literally not that hard.

Got a wash and set yesterday. The humidity is high today; I have to handle my edges. Thank you.
You have been missed! I'm so glad to hear about your blessing in your future career. If you have have an updated wash and go routine I'd like to see this. Continue to keep your priorities straight and I look forward to whenever you are able to post another video.

Don't know if you found anything yet. But a Brazilian blowout has worked magically on my hair where it even makes it easy for me to wear natural if I want to. Idk how your hair is though, but that may work
