i'm 47 and i was doing frontflips from sea containers, nice sunny weather but the next day my back was killing me. I took 4 showers in the year 2021. I took 1 shower in 2022. I can see what Wim is pointing at its just that i'm at a different wavelenghth.
I don't even think anymore it's unpleasant. It's just the over-comforted and conditioned mind that's playing tricks on you. If you actually start believing that it's pleasant, it will be eventually.
I was feeling very unmotivated and just burnt out, not wanting to do anything. but you're excitement over taking a shower gives me the sudden urge to go and take a shower.

Right just like u take a deep breathe in and hold your stomach when it’s pool season but the water is still cold, once u dip down and breathe hold in a few seconds under shoulders u are good to go . Although I think a cold tub or pool would be easier to get all in at once but I’m about to try my first cold shower right now !
Ive had alot broken apart recently, and ive ruined alot of myself in my own depresssion for years now. I hope this method helps me get through and quit cigarettes finally after 10 years.. im just 23.. I just want to be me again. 4th year in. It's addiction, in a pure positive way. You don't need much more for mental, spiritual and physical health. Wim really did gave the main things away for free. Cold and breathwork. Bless him, thank you Wim!
While this is true, physical health is a bit iffy for me. Like what if you acclimated to it and won’t be able to feel your body temperature going unhealthily cold?

I’m an incarnation of balance, i always find comfort in discomfort. And in comfort i find light which is connected to darkness/void. So same with comfort gestures i express gratitude, then let it go flowing down the river. Filling me up. Negative gestures just tickle me, positive ones move me then i accept them and calm down while focussing. This is inner balance
My wife started your method about 6 weeks ago. She went from having to use her ventolin inhaler twice a day to only needing it about 3 times in a whole month. I've been doing it for 8 days now (after agreeing to try it for a week "as an experiment"). Needless to say, I don't want to stop doing it! Thanks, Wim.
UPDATE: I'm still doing it after 26 days - haven't missed a day and progressed from 30 seconds to 3 mins and 30 seconds after around 10 days or so. I feel great, full of energy and focused. I urge anyone still on the fence to try this. PS: It definitely works best just after breathing exercises in the morning and on an empty stomach.

It’s mostly mental. I turn the knob cold. I wait outside the shower for it to get colder. I don’t hesitate I don’t second guess or debate with my self I put a nice playlist on my phones. Without thinking I just step right in . Cheers

Something people don't understand about cold showers: They actually *feel good*. It's not just that you feel good after the cold (although that is true), but when you stand in the cold water for long enough, it stops feeling unpleasant and it actually starts to feel good throughout your body. I only realized this recently, having experienced it for the first time because I wasn't exposing myself to the cold for long enough!

Two things. If you start with warm or hot water, the temperature change going to cold is greater than if you just start all cold. I also find that box breathing helps. Four counts in and hold for four counts, then exhale for four counts and hold for four counts. Counting the breaths takes your mind off of the cold, or at least it helps.
Personally I think that's more beneficial for the body. It will get the blood vessels working much better than just a cold shower. A friend of mine had some issues with veins losing elasticity and doctor told her to do hot-cold showers.
You're allowing your squeamishness and reluctance to make this bigger of a challenge than it actually is. You have to power through the transition to total cold by not going "slow" or "gradual". Just flip it to total cold, accept your fate, and understand that when your mind tells you "I don't feel like it", that's because your NOT SUPPOSED TO feel like it. THAT'S WHY it works. Because it challenges you mentally and physically, and I believe THAT'S WHERE the health and psychological benefits come from. Going easy and slow and cautious with this is just prolonging the struggle. Just take a deep breath, give up comfort, and accept your defeat. You'll come out the other side a new person each time. I'm a thin guy, and always thought I was not meant to last in cold temperatures. Until I tried this without giving myself excuses, and now I understand that that was just me not facing a fear. My body can do pretty well in cold actually. Everyone's can. We've just been brought up to be too comfortable so we feel like wimps. We're not. We are stronger than we know.
I start out with my normal temperature and when I'm finished washing my hair and body I gently turn the hot water off. It's so invigorating. Wim Hof breathing is still my favorite, totally helps your mind.

I started.cold showers and baths 6 months ago. I starred with the feet and worked my way up. Now I can go swimming in any body of water and it feels lovely and warm. I don't even like warm baths anymore, they burn my skin. It's crazy how quickly you adapt.
The beauty of taking a cold shower is there are no shortcuts or workarounds, you either commit to it fully or don't. But if you do it, it's one challenge overcome right then and there.

I like cool showers, it refreshes me. I like warm showers too but i only mostly take it when it's cold, I'm a little feverish sick or winter because it's cozy
For me there was a tipping point after which I never ever needed any motivation to take a cold shower again. Doing cold showers just feels intrinsically right and desirable at this point.
yeah thats common mb try to make the xperience in the shower nicer like with your favourtie happy music so the brain connects the happy feelings afterwards easier with the shower itself

I have done it and the feeling after is magical even the sleep is all night
I like cool showers, it refreshes me.
I like warm showers too but i only mostly take it when it's cold, I'm a little feverish sick or winter because it's cozy
Cold shower actually resets the ego and puts the ego further back in line where it is suppose to be.
My skin my energy levels and quality of sleep have been thanking me for taking cold showers every day for the past week
For me there was a tipping point after which I never ever needed any motivation to take a cold shower again.
Doing cold showers just feels intrinsically right and desirable at this point.
I was exactly the same.
It's like when I gave up cigarettes. I cant remember that moment when it felt OK with it.it just seemed to be so easy.
So how did you get over your instincts sending warnings about your body temperature maybe running too low making it unhealthy?

Although I take them often, They never seem to exactly be satisfying. its always great after the shower but it never seems to get easier
yeah thats common mb try to make the xperience in the shower nicer like with your favourtie happy music so the brain connects the happy feelings afterwards easier with the shower itself
@@bananaboyTS Yes thank you thats great, I always put very loud fast music and it helps. I think its because I only do it for about 30 seconds and give up, maybe I should go for 1 minute and increase it everytime slowly.
It get's easier the moment you allow yourself to believe that it's actually not nearly as unpleasant as your over-comforted mind makes it appear to be.
Im working my way up too 2 minutes I’m at 30 seconds right now
