My study of Jennifer Homans Apollos Angels has led me into the works of Lully. Whar a magnificent discovery.. I am a huge fan of the stately elegance that underpins his work.

    J. B. Lully is my favorite, his music speaks to my soul. I just don't see that contemporary style of choreography is really good match in this case. Some great things just should not be separated or substituted by anything else but should be kept in their original, genius form. I doubt the choreographer of this performance will be remembered and appreciated for centuries as J.B.Lully.

The wiles of soft power neo-Bolshevism -- not banning the past outright, but "reinterpreting" it from a politically correct perspective, sometimes openly but frequently by destroying the original's coherence.
In this case, we are given a false historicity of the social order of the last quarter of the 17th century transposed into the first half of the 18th, further falsified by the "feldgrau" uniforms of both sexes using a post-modern choreographic language that deconstructs the romanticism of classical ballet.
      That's for starters.

The "Ballet" is at odds with the Graceful Musique. All that leaping & fluttering about in those stiff Costumes is irritating, distracting & annoying. The Choreography & Staging is sadly misjudged. The Beautiful Music & Singing are superlative.
