There is nothing, NOTHING better than the perfect Chicken Noodle Soup - especially on a freezing cold winter's day or evening.
I am known to make some of the greatest chicken noodle soup amongst friends and loved ones - but it always takes about a solid 2-3 hours to do it. Now, it only takes 30 minutes!
My mom has been begging me to convert my stove-top recipe into one for the Instant Pot so she could be pushed over the edge to finally get one of her own - so here it is, MA!
TIP: To REALLY send this home, check out my Matzoh Ball recipe video! ( • Marvelous Matzo Balls )

It looks amazing. A hint from a stove top pressure cooker user; when you make the broth separately, just use water, but use a whole chicken. Half a whole onion, leave the skin on, add 2/3 stalks of celery, 2/3 carrots, 2 bay leaves, 2 whole garlics cloves peppercorns, and a whole lemon (no need to cut) and pressure cook for 40 minutes. You will get the prettiest, yellow, clear broth ever without having to use any additional broth supplements.

I love your recipe in the Instant Pot, so easy, so good, shaved hours out of a stock pot. I put potato in with the carrot, celery and add onion chopped fine. I make this every other week. Especially in winter. Very good.

This is my new favorite kitchen tool! Day 1 I was going to pressure cook a meat ruclips.net/user/postUgkxG-7WiT7ocumjytOpHDFt632PL0pxXRAg and potato stew, decided I wouldn't eat it that night so I went with a slow cook so I could go to bed and put it away in the morning. I love that versatility! The sauté feature works great and adds tons of extra flavor to dishes, and I can easily sizzle meats in the bottom then deglaze for some restaurant worthy flavors.Big bonus - you can cook a whole frozen chicken in about 2 hours. Amazing! I've seen a couple videos, haven't tried it yet, but I will soon!

Another amazing recipe, have made this twice this week, and it's summer, haha. I doubled the chicken, tripled the carrot and celery and kept everything else the same. Perfect!. Oh and not to forget, throwing in the neck, giblets and all that goodness makes extra tasty. Thanks again Jeff, I never would have tried making chicken soup from scratch! It was amazing!

Great soup, next time I think I will skip the dill. One alteration I made was that I added about 1 tsp of poultry seasoning. This broth s to die for and easy to make! I don’t do 99% of the cooking so I am not the cook in my family but my husband won’t stop raving about this soup!!

Just watched your video and made a pot of soup. It's delicious! The only difference I mad e was using a half of a rotisserie chicken from Costco and a bag of frozen cut up carrots, onions, and celery. It was a great way to use up the chicken and get the great broth from pressure cooking it with the bones. I love your videos!

Here's another helpful hint: when you take the chicken out, de-bone it using the tongs and shred it using 2 forks immediately. This will keep the chicken from over cooking.
Once shred, add 1/8 of a box of plain swansons chicken broth (for 1/2 a chicken) and 1/3 of a box for a whole chicken. This will help to keep it very moist and juicy while you cook everything else. Mix it up every 5-10 minutes while preparing everything else.

Pro Tip: instead of paying extra for the chicken, Just go to Wal*Mart and get a rotisserie. They cost like $5 and you get a whole chicken. You'll have to spend a few minutes doing your own butchering, but the rotisserie will add a little extra flavor as well.
I would cut off the meat and just use the carcass for broths since the meat is already cooked.

great soup! Here's a helpful hint that you might find that makes the recipe even better: put the chicken inside cheesecloth and knot it shut. It'll allow all the goodness to come out of the chicken and when it's time to take out the chicken to separate it, it'll come out in one package with no bones separating into the broth

Also, as you de-bone it, put the bones and fat into a new piece of cheese cloth.
As your soup base get low, you can add more chicken broth and add the bones to it and cook it for 10 minutes (with natural release), this will help stretch out your soup base. You will need to add more salt when you do that.

So I made this today.. First, let me say I've been doing scratch chicken soup for 42 yrs. But I'm always game to try others recipes.
    This certainly was delicious!
I omitted the lemon pepper (I simply do not like it) and could have sworn I had Sherry, but did not. The soup base was still delicious!!
I used, from scratch, matzo balls instead of the noodles. Noodles, due to the starch, will mask and muddy the favor of the soup unless you add tons of salt and extra bouillon. I prefer not to do that. Where as the matzo balls enhance the soup flavor and allow the true flavor to shine through.
But it's all about personal taste and your soup base was delicious!
    Thank you

Followed the recipe with minor modifications. I seared the chicken on the bottom of the instant pot first, just for a few minutes a side, to get a Maillard reaction and some good fond on the bottom of the pan. Removed the chicken, poured in the broth, and scraped the bottom of the pan with a wooden spoon. I didn't have any sherry, so I used a teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce instead. Followed your Mom's matzo balls recipe and voila!

This is a great recipe but I do always add celery seed in with the spices. It gives it that little extra that is so flavorful, even with the celery in there. Thanks for the video. I never thought of making soup in the Instant pot.

Love your vids! Been watching for about a year & enjoying your recipes. Finally remembered to sub (sorry!). But Netflix? No way! I've noticed noodles cooked in the instant pot have a kind of weird, almost slimy consistency that is gross, even if they are perfectly cooked al dente. I like that you add them separately to the bowl then add the broth with chicken & veg. GENIUS! THX!

Good recipe! only one thing I would add is a parsnip really adds a great flavor to chicken soup.

I agree. Also, some fresh ginger, fresh parsley, and a thoroughly washed leek to the stock production would set this soup apart from all others.

A little sesame oil drizzled on the chicken kicks it up a notch!

I absolutely love this soup and have made it about 5 times especially when I have friends who get sick. I love using my instant Pot for it, but someone I made it for doesn’t own an Instant Pot. I searched everywhere online, but couldn’t find your stovetop recipe. Would you mind sharing it for non-instant pot users?
This is hands down my favorite chicken noodle soup!!

    Jeff,
Made your chicken noodle soup today...Great! except it was a little salty. I didn't pay attention to the amount of Better Than Bullion to use. I put 4 cups of water and 4 teaspoons of that in the water. Had a good chickeny taste but a little salty. Next time I'll pay close attention to the amounts...Love your videos...thanks for sharing...

If you add too much salt, just add a raw potato, the extra salt will boil into the potato. That is, the potato will absorb the extra salt.

Loving your videos. And just to be sassy...the side of your instant pot inner bowl has "cups" right on it. So you do, in fact, have a large measuring cup for liquids. ;) Keep up the awesome cooking! Thank you for all the amazing recipes!
