I’ll be showcasing my TBR list, featuring a mix of genres. Watch as I spin the roulette wheel, each segment filled with a title from my eclectic list, and let chance dictate my reading for the month. Paperback journeys isn't pregnant yet, but he never fails to deliver
You are gonna LOVE jurrasic park!
Found this channel yesterday! Watched about 5 videos. Great content, thank you. Nice to see another British RUclipsr (sound British anyway lol). I myself live in the south west of England.
@@iBe-RuNnErZ Yep! I'm British. I was born in London and raised in Essex. I live in Atlanta in the USA now.
I love the South West. Seems to be filled with really friendly fun people from my experience.
@@PaperbackJourneys to be honest England's not the same anymore. But yea the southwest is a nice part of the country. Keep doing what you're doing. Love the content.
Safe travels man! But yeah, Blood Meridian is “kind of violent” in the way that the Barbie movie is “kind of pink”.
John Kavanagh the Gravediggers and Bowe’s the 2 best pours of Guinness in all Dublin!
Jurassic park is pretty great. I like the book much more than the movie. I started reading it and was immediately like “oh, this is a horror novel” XD
Hey! It’s Camooo. 🤪😊👍 It’s had such a following because it introduced the philosophy of existentialism. You are cool! And charming!
Al-bear Camoo, no less…
@@michaelmasiello6752 lol
@@thomasceneri867 hahaha! Oh nooo! I've been revealed as a fool yet again 😂. Thank you. I'll be sure to pronounce his name correctly next time around. I even considered looking up the pronunciation but then got too comfortable.
@@michaelmasiello6752 🤣 I hate myself.
@@PaperbackJourneys Please don’t call yourself a fool!!!😊
Blood Meridian is one of my favorites. Also one of the most violent books I've ever read. It has a lot of philosophical, literary and biblical references that are easily missed it you haven't read some books yet, like Faust, The Divine Comedy, Paradise Lost and of course the Bible.
Greetings from Brazil!
I grew up loving the movie Jurassic Park. I read the book about 20 years later and I love the book even more than the movie. It is better in my opinion.
The fisherman was such a fantastic journey. Enjoy!
Oh I love to hear that! It seems like lots of people really enjoyed it. I hope it lives up to its reputation.
Once again another great video, topped off with the fiction roulette. Love how you have the classic (Jurassic park) on this list, been meaning to look into fisherman for some time now....maybe before end of the year. Thanks again jay and enjoy the break ☕📖
Thanks mate. Yeah I can't wait to read The Fisherman and Jurassic Park.
If I ever get married I want the Jurassic Park theme at some point in my wedding. It makes me cry everytime, such fond memories
I want an invite to any wedding that plays the Jurassic Park theme song 😂 🦕 🦖
I would loooove a vlog of your trip + reading some books!! (Like the one Booktuber Library of a Viking did)
I actually did one a while back. It didn't get many views 😂
Here it is...

The fisherman is good but it does get weird but not for a super long time. I thought the cosmic horror was palatable.
If possible I do want to see your adventure in London and beyond! Lots of heavy books this month. The Stranger,...Blood meridian....Would love to see your thoughts on Jurassic Park since I still need to read it as well!!! Awesome video as always!!
Yeah I'll film a little and include it in my monthly wrap up for September. I did a whole travel vlog of London, Berlin, Prague, and Edinburgh once called 4 cities, 4 books or something but it wasn't very popular 😂. I think it had about 200 views and took 15 hours to make haha. You can see that on my channel though if you like that kind of content.
The Stranger is a great book. Meursault doesn't have no emotions, he's just autistic imo.
Can't wait to eventually hear your thoughts on Blood Meridian.
Time war is an interesting one… curious what you’ll think
Loved the video
Hope you have a great vaca… holiday!
Haha. Started feeling fancy calling it a vacation 😂. Thanks mate.
Jurassic Park book is MUCH better than the movie!!!
In school they assigned us to read The Stranger and I loved it. I reread it last year and also read The Plague by Camus and I gotta say The Plague in my opinion was so much better and deals with similar themes. Both great but I was pleasantly surprised with The Plague and wonder why more people don’t talk about it.
Oh that's so interesting. Yeah I'm always hearing about The Stranger but never heard about The Plague. Maybe the former gets talked about and studied more because it's heavier thematically? I'll add The Plague to my TBR list. Thanks.
Well this is the first time I’ve read everything from the TBR. Yay. I’m an authority 😂
This Is How You Lose The Time War is marmite for a lot of people. Some get really frustrated that the broader world and the abilities of Red and Blue are a bit nebulous, but for me it was the book of the year so far.
I’ll be posting my review of The Fisherman in the next couple of days, personally I reckon you’ll enjoy it. It’s pretty much what would’ve happened if Stephen King wrote Lovecraft, so it might be a nice gateway for you.
Enjoy Dublin mate. Sláinte
I’ve heard great things about a lot of these books!! Very intrigued to hear your thoughts on This Is How You Lose the Time War and Kindred (whenever you get to it in the future). Happy reading! 😊
Safe travels ✈️ and happy reading 📖 🎧!!
Jurassic Park film is also a dear memory for me, but while the movie is an adventure for the family, the book is more like a horror/thriller story. This "technological thriller" style of Michael Crichton e amazing, I couldn't stop reading. I've read many other Crichton books ever since and love them all.
I sometlmes like cosmic horror. It depends how it is done but I often find it more weird than scary. And I want scary. 👻
Have fun on your vacation. Ireland is defintely on my bucket list!
Yeah Ireland is a great time. I actually used to live in Ireland for a couple of years and it was great. I wonder how much it's changed since I was there. Thanks for the comment mate.
I’ve not read Jurassic Park but I’ve seen all the movies. Hopefully I can read it eventually
Yeah! The movies are some of my favourites. The first one especially was incredible. I'm excited to read the book.
Looking forward to your review of Jurassic Park. One of the first books I ever read and my first Michael Crichton book. Side note are you going to a match in London perhaps? ⚒
I'm not going to be able to see a match live. I wanted to go to Fulham away but I'm only back for a few days and so I said I'd spend all of my time with the family for those days. The good thing is that my sister built a pub in her back garden so we'll all watch it from there. ⚒️
By the way... I've got my monthly wrap up coming up in a couple of days and... I reckon you'll be happy about what I read 🤣
@@PaperbackJourneys 🔥👀 oh yeah? The question is are YOU happy about it 😂.
I recently read Kindred and really enjoyed it. While it definitely described some of the horrors and terrible injustice of slavery, I didn't find it to be an overly heavy read (as I understand Blood Meridian to be, for example). Octavia E. Butler's The Parable of the Sower was also very good and thought-provoking, and for me a much tougher emotional read. I'm white; maybe the experience would be different for people of color.
So would you say that Parable of the Sower is a better book?
@@PaperbackJourneys I don't have a good answer for that. I thought they were both good reads in different ways. For me, Kindred was probably more enjoyable as a story and Parable hit me harder, made me think more, maybe. Maybe b/c the hard events of Kindred took place in the past and are largely known, whereas the ones of Parable are depictions of what could become real in our near future. (Interesting that the "future" setting of the book when she wrote it is our "right now.")
Yo yo u r coming Ireland and didn’t tell me? Rude. Have fun with your cousins 😁
Annihilation was decent, the next 2 books of that trilogy kinda sucked imo
