You go girl ! There’s not a woman I know that would climb up on that roof. I can only imagine how scary it is to look down at the lake from that elevation. Glad you built the scaffolding. It should come in handy for the side installation as well. Great job !

Michelle, that is going to be one incredible place to sit with your coffee and contemplate the universe. I can't wait until each new video comes out. Getting the roof planked and papered is a big step. Aside from my time in the Army, I did heavy construction the rest of my walking days. And I wish I had someone like you on my crew. You put most of them to shame.

Then you can put the remainder of the wood up there to stay high😊 and dry from winters rain ☔ and snow ❄️. Enjoy your build. Also grab a Garmin Inreach to communicate with Steve or 911. Have fun.

You can leave the gap at the ridge open. After you install the roof, you can install a ridge vent. If you are going to leave the ceiling open, it will still ventilate the cabin. If you close off the ridge space with a ceiling, there will need to be some air intake to the closed off space.
You are doing an amazing job.

The one thing I’ve always enjoyed about woodworking is it helps to slow you down which is pretty hard to do these days. Don’t ever rush or take chances when you’re working up high. Good to see you wearing a safety harness. Better to be safe than sorry. A fall from even the lowest part of your roof could be fatal or disable you permanently. I was cringing in past episodes when you were precariously balancing on the rafters. You really should have a safety partner with you or some kind of means to communicate like a satellite phone.

Very impressive, just found this series so I'm sure your much farther along now. I've done quite a few solo builds and I've learned a lot of ways to use what I have to act as a third hand or to hold something in place. You will too. A tool that I wish I would have purchased sooner is the clamps a lot of wood workers use . They slide on a bar and tighten by squeezing the handle. Super useful for holding things in place while you either screw or nail things together.
Keep building your dreams, think about being safe more than how much time you have. Haste makes waste and can get you hurt!

IMPRESSIVE efforts and RESULTS!!! I have no fear of heights- just a healthy respect: almost 30 years ago I had my first/only ladder accident. I was painting inside, up about 16ft/roof vault ceiling, when my ladder slid down the wall. I had placed spare rubber knee pads on the end of the ladder at the top- to protect the wall surfaces. They came off....and so did I. I fell onto a small aluminum step ladder underneath, broke 3 ribs, lacerated my spleen, etc. NOW I duct tape everything. On the outside, I use my mntn. climbing harness all the time/standard.- I tie off to my vehicle, chimney, or trees.
