  • Before I forget to say this - I really don't like tar paper. I wonder why it's not called tear paper. 🤔
Hi everyone! As you can see by the thumbnail, I am at the tar paper stage - but lemme tell ya, it was kinda hard work and I'm very glad it's done!!!
Sometimes I feel so unorganized, and likely it shows. But one day I'll get to the stage where I feel like I actually know what I'm doing, and I'll be so much more efficient! I look back at one year ago, and I still feel like I've come such a long way in my building skills -both from just my own learnings, but of course, from the help of everyone watching and providing tips and tricks for me. I appreciate everyone's input very much, and although it might not look like I'm applying those suggestions, I'm storing them somewhere in my little head. 🤭
Not much else to say (well, there probably are lots more things, but I can't think of them right now!) - I hope you all enjoy the video and the progress of this tiny little cabin build, out on a cliff, in the middle of the great Canadian wilderness.
See you all in the next video!!

You go girl ! There’s not a woman I know that would climb up on that roof. I can only imagine how scary it is to look down at the lake from that elevation. Glad you built the scaffolding. It should come in handy for the side installation as well. Great job !

The one thing I’ve always enjoyed about woodworking is it helps to slow you down which is pretty hard to do these days. Don’t ever rush or take chances when you’re working up high. Take it from me broke both ankles. Hard lesson to learn! But I must say it’s looking good and you’re doing one hell of a job by yourself👍👍👍😎🇨🇱

You can leave the gap at the ridge open. After you install the roof, you can install a ridge vent. If you are going to leave the ceiling open, it will still ventilate the cabin. If you close off the ridge space with a ceiling, there will need to be some air intake to the closed off space.
You are doing an amazing job.

You're one of a kind, Michy, you know? If you didn't, now you do. Scaffolding is an incredible helper since you can walk here and there while being on the same elevation.. If needed, you could get away with triangular braces without external posts, but if you have them, well, use them. 😉 As the say "measure twice, cut once" is true, also is "if you can make it safer, do it", therefore she's no stranger to danger.. emm, is danger your middle name?😁 Kiddin', Michy, you're great and I feel your happiness.. You're contageous... inspirationally contageous! There should be more girls like you. Cheers, take care.

Each segment of this build remind me of watching you run a marathon. There are hills and valleys. Some hills are very big and steep, and you struggle, but you never quit. You take time to step back, come up with a plan, rest, and get energy, and you finish it. when finished, its like you just finished a marathon. Very impressive, just found this series so I'm sure your much farther along now. I've done quite a few solo builds and I've learned a lot of ways to use what I have to act as a third hand or to hold something in place. You will too. A tool that I wish I would have purchased sooner is the clamps a lot of wood workers use . They slide on a bar and tighten by squeezing the handle. Super useful for holding things in place while you either screw or nail things together.
Keep building your dreams, think about being safe more than how much time you have. Haste makes waste and can get you hurt!

The Cabin on the Cliff is looking nice. Sometime if you are looking for video ideas, showing your drive through the woods to get the the Cabin on the Cliff would be nice.
