MY FIRST OVERNIGHT ON THE CLIFF! | Shed camping in the Canadian Wilderness

  • The time has come for my first overnight on the cliff!! Wooo Hoooo! Join me for this adventure, with a surprise little build project thrown into the evening! Cliff-side showers and bonfire stories to be had!
I was warm enough through the night, although outside only got down to 10 degrees Celsius. Although I didn't get a whole lot of sleep, the shed was so cozy and comfy. (But I'm definitely switching my mattress! 😜). All of our game cameras are still out in other areas from when Scout was missing, but I'd really like to set one up around the area to see what wildlife frequents the area.
I am pretty darned near set to start the cabin build, but as always, have many other things on my plate, so your life with me here on RUclips truly is kinda like a box of chocolates - ya never know what you're gonna get each week(ish)! 😊🤷🏻‍♀️.
So as always, thanks for joining me and see you next time! 💕

I kept thinking what a lovely bespoke mini cabin made just to fit you. I have spent quite a lot of time up in the wilds of BC through forestry and planting and it brought back many memories. I have encountered many bears and a few cougars in my time in the bush but never did I see such a lovely bikini! Any loggers out there will know exactly what I mean. 😁. What a lucky dog he gets to be in such a lovely place and run and smell everything and to top it off sleep in such a cosy place with his favourite human. Great video! 😁

Michelle: I guess I have been subjected to aversion therapy with nurses. Being shown closeups of cougar scat would be just what my wife would have done! She was a surgical nurse too! She was also "particular" about her mattress. After hours of laying in a mattress in a store on several occasions, we still had to replace it three times in two months to get it just right.

So if you get a 12” cast iron pan. Then find a bolder about soccer ball size. Put the bolder on the fire barrel for a couple of hours. Then when ready to sleep use oven mitts and carry bolder into shed and put in cast iron pan. This stone will keep you nice an warm all night. You are living a charmed life enjoy. Get a empty spray bottle fill with water to the top leave at least 1 nich off the top than add 1 table spoon of dish soap Dawn, add 1 teaspoons of lavender oil and mix it all together in the bottle. This is spider & small insect repellent it's human & pet friendly. I spray this everywhere inside & outside my house. You should put everything in a plastic totes everytime you leave so you don't have rats in your stuff. Love your lil cabin. Keep living out loud. 🙏👊❣️

Hello, I'm new to your channel. This was a great (and inspiring) video! So sorry to hear about your dog that drowned. You obviously give them a great deal of love. A couple suggestions, if you want... 1) heavy duty metal screen to cover the air holes in your fire barrel (to lessen risk of big embers escaping), 2) a motion sensor trail camera to see what lurks while you're inside sleeping (they can even alert your phone to watch from inside - perhaps a closable mail slot-sized opening on each side that doesn't have a window, 3) an apparatus to hoist your food/trash out of wild animal reach, and 4) consider a solar panel on the roof to charge your phone (perhaps even tool batteries). You can build a false-front log siding around the sides to hide it from view from the ground. Have fun, and thank you for being a healthcare hero! Bye, Riley!

Greeting from the Sierras in California!
I feel like our thoughts have been invited. So here's a few if I may:
•A list. Often we gear what was forgotten. So I suggest keeping a tablet handy. List what to bring or do. Consult it at home when preparing for your return. (Just remember where your list is. We use a stenographer tablet. Handy size with good covers.)
•I know I speak as an American. But a cougar is nothing to mess with. I would take the classes so you could bring real protection!
•My late wife was like the princess and the pea, which you mentioned. Funny!
•I had no idea Steve was SO very capable! Thanks for telling us of his many capabilities and history.
•I wish you had a faith. I appreciate your several mentions of appreciating this and being grateful for that. God loves an attitude of gratitude. I personally try to remember to thank Him for all good things.
All good things come from God.

If you want the front shed permanent, cut your rafter poles so they are supported by your back rafters, (AKA sitting on top.) Make sure they're cut to shed water. Screws aren't the best fasteners for outside because they're too brittle, nails are actually better though harder to use at times. If you do it well, it will last as long as the rest of the roof. Good Luck.
