I love it when rocky says 'I was hoping he wouldn't show' The respect he has for the champion is classy...even if Apollo doesn't give the same respect to him (at least till the end of the fight)
Certainly is but someone kinda pointed it out, as Rocky knocked apollo downs so Rocky just fell over and didnt really need to try beat apollo to get up before the ref counted to 10. Makes sence.
The more you watch the series, the more you will see that Adrian is the reason Rocky was a champion. You will never find another movie franchise in the history of cinema where a wife like Adrian was not more important. She was Rocky's heart.
He can't get his head in the game, and all she has to do is say that one word to him, "win". His entire world flips around in that one moment, and anything becomes possible. It's almost like magic.
23:48 My cousin was one of those Kids running with Stallone in this scene. You could actually see him next to him in this shot. Basically Stallone was looking for kids in the Philly area to run with him. He had the time of his life. He even got a picture with Stallone which was later sent to him and autographed. It still hangs up in his living room today.
I saw this Movie when it first came out in the Theater and it was Full and when that Last Part happened when both were trying to get up everyone in the Theater were screaming "Get Up Rocky" and when he did that theater got loud with everyone Screaming including Me it was Awesome
Stallone is the 🐐of Action movie stars not even a close second, changed his body for every role and changed as a person to reflect those roles. No green screen BS just pure filmmaking at its finest Rocky and Rambo sagas
Why is it that the best RUclipsrs don’t get love from the algorithm and others that don’t put as much work and skill into it get too much love. Well done man. You one of my new favorites. Keep rocking
Seeing Rocky running with all those people when he was training is one of the most iconic and symbolic things I’ve ever seen in a movie period, thing of beauty💯💯💯
The actor who plays Mickey is Burgess Meredith. He was the first Penguin in the 60s Batman movies and series. He blows Devito outta the water. Stallone has been one to always overcome. He was born w a pinched nerve ( why he has that slight mouth paralysis) then it was a few years back that his real son, Sage passed away so I always admire him
I would say Devito and Burgess both amaze as the penguin, they did a different approach to the character. And IMO Sly is a real life champ, overcame lots of obstacles to bring his character to the movies, he even had to fight to be the main actor of the movie. And after all this years, Rocky and Rambo are pop culture icons, he continues to make movies, has won golden globe for acting and an Oscar for original script.
Burgess Meredith has played many roles. He was in a classic WWII film, "In Harm's Way" for example. And he was in several episodes of The Twilight Zone, one of my favorites is The Obsolete Man.
Fun fact, just incase nobody else has mentioned it: The lead singer of that street corner band is Sylvester Stallone's brother, Frank. He's a pretty successful singer and songwriter in his own right.
What I love the most about this movie is that Apollo is a real character, not a racist caricature for Rocky to defeat. They could have taken the character too far, and they didn't. Apollo is awesome and charismatic and thoughtful, an antagonist without being a villain.
Rocky : If you want me to quit fighting I'll find a job Adrian : I just need you to do one thing for me.. come here WIN... WIN (Rocky's facial expression changes) Ding! Mickey : What are we waitn for!! That part gives me chills everytime.
Rocky III is when you get to see Apollo in more depth, through the dynamic with Clubber Lang (Mr. T). Don't want to spoil it, but lets just say Creed becomes more three-dimensional and more than just a tornado of hype and ego.
The part where Apollo's friend tried to talk him out of it, I think the real best part of it was cut out: "You threw everything you had at him and he just...KEPT...COMING."
The series as a whole is a great story, a modern epic. There's occasional low points, not good parts but looking at the whole story beginning to end it deserves a whole Oscar award to be created for it.
If I recall it right, those people running with him during the training montage were not hired extras but people that saw the scene being filmed and jumped in because of how big the first movie got. If that is true, one can only imagine how Stallone must have felt in that moment.
The kid in the body cast who asks Rocky to sign it is played by actor Paul McCrane. He's also the bad guy in Robocop who crashes into the toxic waste and comes out all disfigured.
Sylvester Stallone's face was damaged by a forcep delivery, which also happened to Milo Ventimiglia, who played his son in "Rocky Balboa." The baby in this movie is Seargeoh Stallone, who is Sylvester's 2nd son, and has been institutionalized since he was 3 years old for autism.
As a Philadelphian, I can say that folks whp got to be just extras in a Rocky movie get total respect, to an almost ridiculous extent. Fun fact: in the first film, since they did not have a large budget, so they had to film the fight in reverse, so they could peel the makeup for each round. This made them look normal at the start of the fight.
Stallone has recently said that Tony is actually Rockys half Brother which is why he looks out for him. I think that`s a recent Idea due to the TV prequel that Sly is developing set in the 60`s
This was just as raw and real as the first with a much deeper story line. The dedication and love he shows by going to the hospital and reading to Adrian while she is in her coma, her subsequent realization that Rocky needs to be who he is and "Win" is just so powerful. The only hiccup with the film is running through the streets of Philadelphia at 6:00 am and being followed by all those kids. Trust me on this, it was Philly in the 70's, 1) there is no way in heck they would be out in the streets Philly was a very rough, crime ridden city at that time and 2) being that it is a major city, no way the streets would be empty for 1000 kids to run free. I think if you remove that scene this is another Oscar winner.
I love Rocky's face when Adrian says yes to his proposal. His face is half "Yes I knew it!" And half "Woow, I thought she wasn't gonna say yes." Stallone really plays it off well.
That "Win." from Adrian is just pure Anime Powerup Bullshit in the best of ways. At that point there was never a doubt, Rocky would beat Creed. Because Rocky would NEVER let Adrian down.
It is strange how this is a movie that on paper looks like just a carbon copy of the original.... but not only does it stand on its own, but it even surpasses the original in almost every way. And the original was an absolute classic.
29:23 LOL! Your reaction when Rocky gets up is pretty much the same one me & my brother had as kids watching this movie for the first time back in the 1980's 🥊😁✌️
The fighter Rocky emulates in these movies, Rocky Marciano, was an Italian immigrant that lived in my hometown of Brockton, Massachusetts. There are a few good youtube videos about him. Very interesting.
Adrian’s protection of Rocky is strong, like super strong. Rocky thought he was supposed to be her protector and he is to a certain extent. But because he did so much to get her out of her shell and to trust him and love him, her protection is extremely indestructible of him and it’s hard to break through even for Rocky.
I couldn’t love a reaction more than this one with you. I always cry at the end of these out of shear emotion and it was so refreshing to see ur passion for these films . Love love loved it :⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💯✔️
Fun facts, talia shire was filming another movie so she couldn't film during the fight scene so once she was available they changed it that she had to stay home & watch the fight. Also Stallone had a shoulder injury so they made up he had to fight right handed as a strategy to protect the eye & used him changing to southpaw in the 15th round as the key to his knockout of Apollo
Great reaction. This is my favourite of the bunch but I love them all. Not sure if it’s been mentioned, but the main guy singing on the street corner is Sly’s brother Frank. He’s done a lot of music for Stallone’s films and a very talented singer in his own right.

The way Apollo was acting and talking to Rocky during the fight and even before when he was taunting Balboa on TV was the exact same way Muhammad Ali would act and speak to his opponents before he whooped their ass.
LOL! I loved how excited you got at the end of the fight. It reminded me of the first time I saw it - in the theater. I have seen all of the Rocky movies as they came out. They always get me revved-up . . . just like you did! Very cool reaction! :)
I love this movie. I enjoy it more than the first one too. It's even better when you realize that the fighting is just a metaphor for living your life: It's not about how many times you get knocked down, but how many times you pick yourself back up and continue to fight. It's also very endearing to see a man who isn't the smartest, but has a good heart. I definitely recommend watching the whole series. They're all pretty good in their own way (except 5). Rocky III is the debut of Mr. T! Rocky III & the A-Team catapulted him to super-stardom. You'll see why! Now, I'll have to go watch these movies again.
One of the main reasons for the plot line of switching from Southpaw to Orthodox is because while training for this film, with Mr Olympia Franco Columbo, Stallone tore his right peck BADLY. He needed massive surgery and over I think 100 stitches to repair the damage (though it forever changed his body forever as is obvious when you seen him when he is leaner) and as such, could not jab with his right hand in this film.

Your reactions are great I've been watching these movies since 76 and when I see someone that has never seen the before react like that it's great hate to spoil it for you but they become best friends Rocky and Apollo
In hindsight, I always regard Rocky 1 + 2 as one film because the tone and story continues so well in this first sequel. Amazing movies - all time favourites of this movie series.
Apollo Creed is honestly my favorite character in the series. I get that Rocky is the underdog, but Creed has the best character arc in my opinion. Apollo Creed is about the American Dream and never plays the victim (unlike a LOT of people today), so I respect him.
One of the many reasons I disliked the movie Creed is because they took this upstanding, disciplined, honorable man, and instead of using him as an example for young black men to strive toward, they made him cheat on his wife and have a baby mama. They made him a stereotype and lowered the bar.
Loving your videos. I have loved the Rocky movies for my entire life and watching you react to them is funny as hell! I’m going to go watch your reaction to Clubber Lange now.
Great reaction, thank you so much! The first and second Rocky films are definitely the two best in the series. Great fun to watch you react to these! Peace!
