Rocky IV is my ALL TIME FAVORITE movie!!! It is the quintessential 80’s movie! You’ve got the USA vs the Soviet Union, epic training montages with even more epic music, and a David vs Goliath fight at the end.
What critics ? You probably mean kids today with their CGI crap movies. This is considered one of the best movies of all time. No movie in the last 20 years of cinema is considered one of the best and never will be.

We all hated what happened to Apollo. I seem to recall that Dolph Lundgren was the European kickboxing champion before becoming an actor. This series cast its adversaries well. Also, Sylvester Stallone and Bridget Nielsen (Mrs. Drago) were a couple at the time.
Rocky is by far my fav Franchise. The music choice in these movies really gets ya. Directors Cut will Hopefully kick ass and its coming soon. Cutting out all the robot stuff. Also will hopefully see Apollo give Rocky the Hat at the beginning of Rocky 4 in front of Micky's Gym
I really like how they gave more of a spotlight on Duke, Apollo's long time trainer. He isn't Mickey but he had the same spirit and motivational ability that Mick had
I been watching you react to this series & subscribed. What I love about rocky is outside of the boxing ring, his everyday life & dealing with the obstacles that are thrown at him. Its simple but very introspective, makes you evaluate what’s important & not to give up on yourself. We need more movies like this & whiplash.
Hello, I am from Belgium all that to say that the rocky films I liked like crazy. It also goes beyond boxing because behind there is a story. even if it is the actor sly for me it remains rocky, thank you to you for this video.
Dolph Lundgren is a genius with an IQ of 160. He's got a Chemical Engineering degree from the Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden and a full scholarship to MIT.
I have to recommend the movie Warrior. It's an MMA movie that is as amazing a movie as the original Rock's. It has three great actors in Joel Edgerton, Tom Hardy and Nick Nolte
I saw this in the theater in 1985 when I was 8 years old and I'm still traumatized by it at age 43. I have to look away when he's twitching on the ground.
Sometimes I wonder is Rocky's son actually a shapeshifter because he's played by different actor/kid in almost every sequel, lol. Great reaction to this fun sequel.
Rocky 4 is the most motivational and inspirational movie ever made. This should be prescribed this film to people who are depressed. It has a fantastic soundtrack and the training and overall aesthetic of the film is superb. The training montage is incredible. People get to caught up in the “fantastical” elements of the film and the political undertones but when I saw this film when I was younger I just saw the film for what it was without my views being obscured by the nonsense of the world we live in. See the film for what the actual film is about, overcoming obstacles and keep going no matter what. Rocky V is great. People don’t like it because it’s “different” I don’t share people opinion on the fifth film being the weakest at all. It’s a great film in and of itself.
This has been my favorite reaction to this movie. You have truly become invested in the series and characters and it shows when something terrible happens like Apollo dying. Then when Rocky won you lost your stuff in the excitement. Almost like if this was a real boxing match between the US and Russia. Don't sweat Rocky V. People forget the underlying story to it. Sure, may not be the best one of the series, but it still has some good stuff in it. Hard to say anything about it without giving something away you know? lol
18:50 I still maintain that this is one of the best movies of the series, which is odd to say about the 4th movie in a franchise. It's also helped out by the fact that there is no more powerful motivating moment than how they did Apollo's death here. People who are watching this and into it are on fire after that moment.
That core strength exercise is called “dragon flys” Bruce lee did this also, and Stallone can STILL do this. There’s a video of him a few years ago doing it for the film bullet to the head.
@@rodrigoodonsalcedocisneros9266 Bruce was on roids too, he just trained so hard and ate so little that he didn't put on a lot of mass. Plus he did coke and that made him skinnier.
I forgot to mention on the Bloodsport reaction that Double Impact is an amazing Van Damme movie where he plays twin brothers, again definitely one worth reacting to. I love the Rocky IV soundtrack, it’s on my workout playlist.
I didn't think they could top Rocky III, and they TOPPED IT! At the time, making a fourth movie was considered ridiculous. I'm glad they did (but also love the joke about it in Spaceballs). I can totally relate to Apollo's death hitting you hard. It hit me hard (but well...I've had 35 years to get over it). But, the idea of a fighter getting older, and never being able to let go.... it works for me. I never blamed Rocky for not dropping the towel. Apollo told him not to... and he did do it, but it was too late. You may want to react to Action Jackson starring Apollo Creed (aka Carl Weathers) The Rocky movies are generally metaphors for life, but this one was more about a metaphor for the cold war. Over the top, but Rocky's speech at the end really saved it. I predict you're going to add these songs to your workout playlists now. The movies get you pumped up. I don't think song reactions work as well, and then there's copyright issues. So if you do, I'd suggest on a new channel. Rocky V's opening scene for me, is actually great. After that... no. Still, how many franchises go four movies and each one is good (in their own way)? In Rocky V, Rocky was supposed to die, and the studios wouldn't let him. So when watching that, ask yourself if that would have made a better movie.
Rocky IV was hands down my favorite of the series, and it desperately needed a good reaction video for it, which you delivered. I was 15 when this came out, and the tension between the U.S. and the Soviet Union was near an all time high, so the timing and script (and soundtrack) for this movie were perfect. People who didn't live through that period would have a hard time understanding and relating to it, even though they might still enjoy the movie. This was the pinnacle of the Rocky movies imo (including the Creeds), although there's some nice nostalgia in Rocky Balboa.
Yes we were waiting for someone to press the Big Red Button and go nuclear.Bever thought I would see it in my lifetime. It reminds me of the anti war message in Rambo, First Blood.
Loving your reactions! So heartfelt and raw. Good work! This film was an experience like none other for those who saw it in 1985 that may not be be matched or surpassed by films today. Most of that, imo, is due to being so spoiled by films today due to the internet and multiple trailers that show too much. With Stallone's vision and practically no spoilers beforehand, audiences acted as though this was a live fight when Apollo died and when Rocky beat Drago. When Rocky cut Drago in the second round, popcorn was flying and people were on their feet shouting at the screen as if they thought Rocky could hear them!
Love the opening with the two gloves colliding one with the Russian flag and the other with the American flag then eye of the tiger plays as it picks up right where part 3 left off And those training montages were done to perfection.
I loved Carl Weathers. Apollo was a great character. He was still jacked in this one too. Hated losing him. He was perfect. Loved the look on his face when he saw Paulie's robot...Lol
The fact that the crowd booed Rocky when the fight started but were cheering for him towards the end and were even happy that he won, was just epic!!!! 🥊
I met Dolph Lundgren a few years ago (really nice and veeery smart guy), and he had a funny take on playing Drago. He told me he made a conscious decision to go silent, as Apollo and Clubber were talkers, but then people thought he just couldn´t speak!
Fun Fact: during filming Adolph Lundgren(Drago) pinched Stallone so hard in the chest it moved the position of his heart that caused Stallone to stay in ICU for a week
1. Overall rating from me: Rocky III, Rocky IV, Rocky, Rocky II Rocky V pending at this point. 2. This was an important time for the USA. Walk lightly and carry a big stick. 3. Apollo's death hammered you. It was clear as a bell. 4. This was filmed primarily in Wyoming and Victoria, BC Canada
The Soviet Union did not consider cheating and believe me Drago did not have a choice.Nobody in their right mind would say a word about Russian practices in those days. They pumped female gimnasts full of male hormones, there were 2 of them who had no choice but to change gender after the Soviet Union fell.
This is an 80's masterpiece. I don't care about the critics who call it a 90 minute music montage.

Apollo’s death was very sad but it set up two great creed movies later on. Thanks for this, you are good and I enjoyed these Rocky views you made. 👍👍👍
Miss the 80s and 90s when cable n cell phones where at a minimal ,me and my brother used 2 go 2 the video store rent movies every night new 2 dollars older ones 1 dollar and if u didn't rewind u had 2 pay 50 cents VHS
"I feel like Apollo might lose this one".
Yeah.... you could say that.
Only Pain...
@@CapedInformer Dragos wife was Sly's real wife back then.
@@CapedInformer Drago still would have killed Apollo regardless of the towel at that point in the fight.
@@CapedInformer In real life Dolph-Drago put Sly-Rocky in the hospital with one punch to the stomach.
@@CapedInformer Just like in real life Michael B.Jordan got knocked out with one punch not even full power by a pro fighter when making the newest Rocky movie and he was no where near as big as Dragos son so there is no way he would have taken the beating Dragos son gave him but in real life the match would never have happened because they would be in different weight devisions.
After all these years I love his coach's words. "YOU YOU HURT HIM, HE'S NOT A MACHINE HE'S MAN! NOW TAKE IT TOO HIM! Best words in a sports film ever!
Timeless. I love that line❤
Rocky IV is almost a comicbook or video game movie compared to the others and I’m fine with it! The movies after this go back to being more grounded relatively speaking but I still feel like it works. Also this one has a whole new resonance now thanks to the Creed series. Lovin’ these reactions!
“He’s not human. He’s like a piece of iron.“ Hard line by Drago.
This going to be good. My first Rocky movie at age 5. Still remember sitting in the theater.
Rocky is the greatest franchise in film history. The soundtrack is the best as well. These movies and it's score(s) have and will stand the test of time.
10:07 The moment you knew. One of the most traumatic moments in 80s movies if you were a kid growing up watching these at the time. People didn't see that coming.
Exactly. Not having internet and multiple trailers that show too much that spoil things today is what made movies back then, like Rocky IV, unparalleled.
So many people doing these reaction videos nowadays but you are definitely my favorite. Watching your reaction really brings me back to my experience of having seen these movies for the first time many years ago and why I loved them then and still do. Thank you and keep it up!
Thanks for that, it means ALOT!
Everybody loves Rocky. He has SO much heart.
Not everybody 😂
“ knock his ass, knock his ass, knock his ass” makes me laugh
Rocky IV is honestly my favorite out of the series. Loved Apollo but Ivan was a beast!!!
Drago was the first opponent over 6 foot Rocky faced. Since Apollo and Clubber were 5'11" and Stalone maybe 5'10" it made Drago seem a about 6'7".
@@ckobo84 Apollo was 6'1-6'2
I first saw this in the 80's. Love the music to this film too. Great reaction!🙂👍
Rocky five was misunderstood...I liked it
@@Tusc9969 yeah talia shire wasn't great in it.... Tommy morrison I can overlook tbh... the kid... Well... he's an angsty teen.... and yeah the soundtrack dates it badly... that early 90s hip hop.. snap... ugh... go for it...
I do like parts of the street fight though.. the jab Jab part where he's just nailing Tommy over and over with that music does get the blood pumping...
It’s a really great movie. I also really like it. I don’t share the popular opinion of being bad or the worst rocky movie.
@@iad77 heart and fire! Go for it!
"You knocked him down why don't you try knocking me down"
"Get up you son of a bitch Cuz Mickey loves ya!"
2 of My favorite lines in the franchise
This has and always be my fave film and soundtrack ever, i watched this in the cinema when it was first released and will never forget the atmosphere, people on their feet cheering for rocky !!
Found your channel today and loved your reaction 😄 subscribed xx
Dolph lundgren is among the best action heros, that includes Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jean claud van-dam, silver Stallone and Chuck Norris
Agreed. Dolph Lundgren is criminally underrated.
@@wantutosigh1117 Well, he was in The Expendables.
In other words, The Expendables.
160 is not genius. But he is a celebrity so it's seen as about 230 at least.
@@Gnossiene369 160 is genius. As Einstein was around there. And anyone who says Einstein isn't a genius are dumb
No matter how many times I see this movie creed dying always hurts my heart
I have to recommend the movie Warrior. It's an MMA movie that is as amazing a movie as the original Rock's. It has three great actors in Joel Edgerton, Tom Hardy and Nick Nolte
To add to this, Southpaw is an excellent boxing movie. And to be quite honest, that movie should have been the Rocky 5 we deserved.
Rocky IV was and still is the best Rocky movie ever!! That includes the Creed movies. Dolph was truly a monster!
Thanks for sharing these with us. This is a great reminder of what it was like seeing them for the first time.
Definitely it’s been a blast
My favorite Rocky movie out of all of them. Plus it shows that legends never die.
I saw this in the theater in 1985 when I was 8 years old and I'm still traumatized by it at age 43. I have to look away when he's twitching on the ground.
That was hard to see
dude, drago only saying "i must break you" before the fight.
still sends shivers up my spine, with them piercing blue eyes
Sometimes I wonder is Rocky's son actually a shapeshifter because he's played by different actor/kid in almost every sequel, lol.
Great reaction to this fun sequel.
Thanks!
"No pain, no pain!" He's too funny :-D
That one scene where Rocky & Drago look at each other from across the ring...
That is Art
Thing is, Drago was just a puppet of his government, and he comes to realise that when he comes back in Creed 2 with his son.
Rocky 4 was the greatest movie of all time
This has been my favorite reaction to this movie. Hard to say anything about it without giving something away you know? lol
Appreciate that!
Rocky V is a good movie as well. IMO.
Tony Burton, wow, such a great actor. Every line he has in any movie is delivered with such conviction and humanity. one of my all-time favorites
18:50 I still maintain that this is one of the best movies of the series, which is odd to say about the 4th movie in a franchise. It's also helped out by the fact that there is no more powerful motivating moment than how they did Apollo's death here. People who are watching this and into it are on fire after that moment.
Just watched the directors cut and I agree Apollo low key didn’t get over his loss to Rocky I caught that vibe too
After Rocky defeated Drago in the movie, Stallone married Mrs. Drago in real life.
Then did COBRA
Love the content brotha keep grinding!! Rocky is one of the best movie series of all time
Apollo's biggest problem was not taking Drago, seriously. It cost him his life.
According to College Humor, he was in dancing shape, not fighting shape. lol
It was such a stab to the heart when Adrianne said "you can't win"!
That core strength exercise is called “dragon flys” Bruce lee did this also, and Stallone can STILL do this. There’s a video of him a few years ago doing it for the film bullet to the head.
Love that the training is all applicable to boxing/fighting
@@CapedInformer totally!
But Sly does it juiced to the skies, not that rhere's anything wrong with it.
@@rodrigoodonsalcedocisneros9266 Bruce was on roids too, he just trained so hard and ate so little that he didn't put on a lot of mass. Plus he did coke and that made him skinnier.
I cant stop watching this reaction. It is so good. "No pain, no pain, no pain" So good.
This was the best reaction to this movie that I have seen!! Loved your reaction!! USA, USA!!!
Thanks that means a lot!
You may want to react to Action Jackson starring Apollo Creed (aka Carl Weathers)
The Rocky movies are generally metaphors for life, but this one was more about a metaphor for the cold war.
Already added to my workout mix
Epic video man !!!!! congrats from Brazil !!
Rocky IV easily has the best soundtrack in the entire series 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Ya know he's made a director's cut of this which is soon to be released. He's calling it 'Rocky Vs Drago' I'm looking forward to it.
Love the opening with the two gloves colliding one with the Russian flag and the other with the American flag then eye of the tiger plays as it picks up right where part 3 left off
And those training montages were done to perfection.
I loved Carl Weathers. Apollo was a great character. He was still jacked in this one too. Hated losing him. He was perfect. Loved the look on his face when he saw Paulie's robot...Lol
Adrian went from being a motivator to rocky in part 3 to literally telling him "u cant win" in this one. Crazy turnaround
After the first round with apollo and drago. Drago shakes his head at rocky meaning dont put him back into the ring.
Apollo killed himself...Not Ivan!!!!
Fuck usa 🌈🌈🌈
forever Udssr 😎💪
The fact that the crowd booed Rocky when the fight started but were cheering for him towards the end and were even happy that he won, was just epic!!!! 🥊
I met Dolph Lundgren a few years ago (really nice and veeery smart guy), and he had a funny take on playing Drago. He told me he made a conscious decision to go silent, as Apollo and Clubber were talkers, but then people thought he just couldn´t speak!
Yea I wasn’t even sure if he could speak for a while in the movie lol
@@CapedInformer Well, he really can! He actually speaks something like 15 languages and has 2 PhDs!
Fun Fact: during filming Adolph Lundgren(Drago) pinched Stallone so hard in the chest it moved the position of his heart that caused Stallone to stay in ICU for a week
Maybe not a “fun” fact! 😉
Dolph*. Adolph wow sry Dolph lol
1. Overall rating from me: Rocky III, Rocky IV, Rocky, Rocky II
Rocky V pending at this point.
2. This was an important time for the USA. Walk lightly and carry a big stick.
3. Apollo's death hammered you. It was clear as a bell.
4. This was filmed primarily in Wyoming and Victoria, BC Canada
Best training montage ever.
"The Machine is malfunctioning". All the politicians thought the crowd was malfunctioning too towards the end
Man, i love your reactions!
Much appreciated!
I love how they show the giant horse needle being shoved into Drago's arm during the training montage to confirm that they are in fact cheating.
In real life probably more likely Stalone was consuming more gear.
They both definitely were
The Soviet Union did not consider cheating and believe me Drago did not have a choice.Nobody in their right mind would say a word about Russian practices in those days. They pumped female gimnasts full of male hormones, there were 2 of them who had no choice but to change gender after the Soviet Union fell.
