One of the most rewatchable films ever. Give Bruce and company a WB budget , tight script and solid direction and you have magic.
WB were still tightfisted with them, they gave them $500000 which wasn't a lot to make a film even in them days. But it was filmed in Honk Kong where it was much cheaper to film and the five hundred grand went a long way. After Bruce died and WB saw the film they pumped a load of money into advertising it. Cos it was obviously stupendous..
too bad bruce lee never saw the finished product :(

It's still the most profitable martial arts film to this day as well.
I was a teenager in '73 when this movie came out. I saw it at the State-Lake Theatre in downtown Chicago on the first day! The theatre was jammed packed, every seat was sold and people were standing in the aisles! It was non-stop screaming and shouting, and everybody had a great time! I will never forget Enter The Dragon.
Me too my man! I remember it well, it was crazy. I watched the movie with my mouth wide open and in complete amazement!👍🥋😄 Thanks to Bruce Lee I still practice the martial arts even now and I'm still in good shape.
OMG, I was a 17 year old in 1973 and saw Enter The Dragon at the State-Lake Theatre also! Not the first day, but I had just started college and my mom gave me three dollars for transportation downtown and lunch (yeah, THREE DOLLARS!). I would save one dollar until I had three and after my Friday class, walked into the theatre 20 minutes into the movie (Angela Mao was about to commit suicide). After the movie was over, I sat through it a second time (remember when you could do that?!) Seeing that movie was the best experience of my life up to that point.

Just saying the same thing no one reacts to Bruce Lee movies and i wish someone would react to his other movies but most reactors do follow the crowd but very few take the lead. I need to see all the Bruce movies reacted by someone but it takes 1 to create the trend 💯

When Bruce does the backflips after beating Sammo Hung in the first fight scene, that's actor Yuen Wah as his stunt double. Wah played as the landlord in Kung Fu Hustle.
He also did the flip when Bob wall had Bruce lee foot.
All The Three Brothers (Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung, and Yuen Biao) are in this too.
That dude is awesome. He was my favorite character in kung fu hustle. Honestly, all the characters in that movie were great.
I think his wife in the movie is his real wife. They also acted together in the kung fu mahjong movies, but I haven't found a subbed or dubbed version of those.

Jackie tells a story of working on this film where Bruce accidentally hit him really hard with the sticks and Jackie said it didn't really hurt but he played it up so Bruce could baby a little haha love this movie so much

On e of the episodes of "Jackie Chan Adventures" was a parody of this movie. He talked about that scene, and even had a "standee" from that scene in the movie of when Bruce Lee hit him. BTW, The fellow who Lee he was sparring with in the opening of the movie is Sammo Hung. He and Chan did a number of movies together.
This movie should be required viewing for anyone interested in martial arts.

I think that goes for every bruce lee movie. Fist of Fury because of the dojo fight, Way/Return of the Dragon because of his double nunchuck and Chuck Norris fight, and Big Boss for the night time ice factory fight

Bruce is the fucking king man. No one like him before or since. He passed away about 3 weeks before this came out so he never lived to see the films success or become a global icon. He was also at his lightest during this film, wasn’t eating that much and was super stressed. People often quote his weight from this film like it was him at his healthiest but he was his unhealthiest when he made this film. Such a huge loss, his charisma, skills and talent was undeniable.
Indeed he was so thin and stressed and battling with so much during enter . i think the scene with Sammo at the beggining was shot last and he didnt have his chinese Elvis good looks that he had when he was in longstreet big boss Marlowe . So very sad the way he went

Jim Kelly was a trailblazer in martial arts and film, he and Bruce Lee faced many of the same prejudices in their careers.

Bruce accidentally kicked Jackie in the head and immediately yelled cut and tended to him. Years later Jackie admitted to milking it because Bruce was the star and he liked attention.
@@robertnguyen9493 Bruce didn't call cut. He remained in character for the rest of the shot, but he did tend to Jackie after the director called cut because he realised he'd potatoed him.

Praying Mantises are great to have in the garden, as they kill harmful insects. Grasshoppers, not so much.
First time I ever seen enter the dragon was 1978 I was 10 years old I was hooked even to this very day at 52 blessings Bruce Lee 🙏🏽

Bruce Lee's best movie by far. I remember first watching this at a drive-in back in the day. Everybody who saw it wanted to be Bruce Lee. This movie was like a lower budget James Bond film and I always loved how they put it on an island and gave an explanation for why there were no guns. It gave a preview of what Lee would have been if he had lived.

When "Enter The Dragon" was first released, I lost count of how many times I went to see it at the theater. The expression on Bruce Lee's face; when Han slams on to the spear, looks like Bruce was cheated out of beating Han to death. I swear, it really looks like he wanted the beat down to go a lot longer.
Finally, a reaction to a whole Bruce Lee film and not just a fight scene. Always best to have context.
Okay the technique that Bruce Lee use is called "Jeet Kune Do", roughly translated means "the way of the intercepting fist" the whole concept of this relies on attack first meaning the best way to avoid an attack is to attack on your own. So instead of blocking attacks attack first as a form of blocking or preventing your opponent from advancing forward. So if you notice when Mr. Han was trying to move forward he kept getting kicked because Bruce Lee was utilizing the Jeet Kune Do method.
Sammo Hung, Jackie Chan, and Yuen Wah are three of the Yuen's stunt team, active in many HK action movies. Mr Han was played by Shih Kien, alternatively spelt as Sek Kin, or Shek Kin, a veteran action movie star who almost invariably played the "big bad"; everyone who worked with him said besides being a top-flight martial artist he was the nicest dude ever.
The most obvious blooper is that, when Mr Han was chased by Lee's character, where were his daughters, his personal guards?
Also, the music by Lalo Schifrin is pretty much the most dangerous piece of music ever.
Shih Kien was dubbed by Keye Luke(Master Po in "Kung Fu") for this film. It's odd to hear the same voice of the sage blind master coming out of evil Han's mouth LOL!

The first time I watched this movie I had known the creators of Mortal Kombat were "inspired" by it but holy shit the plot of MK1 is essentially Enter the Dragon with some Bloodsport and Big Trouble in Little China thrown in.
They're real blatant about it too. Lo pan/Shang Tsung Three storms/raiden (and arguably Kung Lao in part 2) Jean Claude/Johny Cage Bruce lee/Liu Kang Scorpion and sub zero/every ninja movie ever. Video games were so small time back then you only needed five coders and a paragraph of fan fiction. Some colleges kids with a smart phone could make Mk 1 today.

The fat guy who fights Bruce at the beggining is Sammo Hung. 3 years later he starred in the movie "Enter the Fat Dragon", a very funny and good movie, where he plays the role of a super Bruce Lee fan. It worths to watch it.
And Jackie Chan is one of the guys he fights underground, who he grabs and off-camera breaks his neck. Funny thing is, he accidentally hit him in the face with a fighting stick, and to make up, promised to have him on every film he did from then on...... Can you imagine Jackie once he broke out in HK being in Bruce Lee's films....sigh.

My favourite kung fu movie of all time. Bruce Lee, Sammo Hung, Jackie Chan briefly as a henchman, Jim Kelly, and Bolo Yeung. All Legands.
Also pat johnson who did action for the karate kid and ninja turtles... He is the guy saying it's the dough roper or we got break something lol.
One more thing too is that also the actor John Saxon who played Roper, had mentioned that he had always had an interest in martial arts prior to this movie, but after finishing this movie he mentioned he was done doing martial arts in film because of how grueling it was learning everything and all the choreography training with Bruce lol. Almost 50 years later up until John Saxon died he always talked about working with Bruce Lee on set and of how great of a martial artist, friend and person Bruce was.

Are there people out there that don't give respect to "Enter The Dragon"!?! I've never watched any video that didn't have reverence for Bruce Lee. Even in the 2010's, there are documentaries that interview actors, musicians, etc. that cite Bruce Lee as their motivational inspiration.

Watched Bruce Lee 's ENTER THE DRAGON quite a number if times since the 70's.. It is really the BEST of the BESTS ever. Still excites n awakens my blood .. everytime I watched this movie.
It’s a shame we’ve never seen Bruce fight outside of film except for that one sparring match he had with a student. At least his speed’s been captured beautifully.

Awesome reaction Sir! Couple of fun facts about this movie is that the actor playing Han was well into his 70's and still did most of his fight scenes! Also that scene with the monk at the beginning and the recalling of that at the end in the room of mirrors wasn't originally in the movie on release. Smashing the mirrors came out of nowhere but made more sense when the scenes were reinstated 😉

To answer the question regarding Lee's speed, as far back as the Green Hornet series, the cameras normally ran at 24 frames a second..in order to catch Lee's moves, the cameras had to be ran at the cameras top speed of 32 frames a second.
I'd heard Lee just slowed down for the camera.

@@juniorkawai6131 That's hilarious, but seriously, a lot of actors do actually slow down their movements for film and it just looks faster onscreen, given our slow standards for fps in tv and movies even today which are shown at around 20-30 fps.
You nailed the slow motion. In Green Hornet, they had to slow him down because he was too fast for the camera, and still, there were frames you couldn't see what he did.
Ok, now you have to watch "Kentucky Fried Movie". You'll know why when you get ti the "Fist Full of Yen" segment of the movie.

YES YES YES! You absolutely, positively have to watch Kentucky Fried Movie (by the makers of Airplane and made before Airplane), especially while details of Enter the Dragon are still fresh in your mind. Because "A Fistful of Yen" is truly a spoof of extraordinary magnitude.
It's definitely a fun movie that still holds up today and inspired a lot of other martial arts movies, video games and even UFC fighters. I could tell you really enjoyed it.

in 1988 about 2500 films disappeared from cinemas and video shops. eventually, the courts stopped them. but it's a safe bet that because Britain has left the EU, the censors will be back, trying to drag the country back to the 1950s again!
you would have to have lived through it to understand what these assholes were like, and the power the government gave them. at the moment they are trying to control the internet. simply because they don't like people having the right to see what is happening in the world. think China, or Iran. or Russia under communist rule!

Enter the Dragon is THE martial arts movie of any generation. With Shang Chi coming out from Marvel, it's a good warm up! Bruce Lee was instructor to many celebrities back in the days. Especially Kareem Abdul Jabar. Bruce Lee used him in his last movie "The Game of Death." What an awesome site to see these two go up against each other! Good to see your reaction!

Bruce Lee is the father of mixed martial arts. He's literally the first person (at least in the 20th century until now) to learn multiple styles of fighting. He didn't believe in one style of fighting is the best. That's what made him unbeatable during his time.
Eh, that's not really true. While he's certainly one of the pioneers of what would become the modern concept of mixed martial arts, learning more than one martial art wasn't a new thing. People have been doing that for centuries, and it was very common in Japan for example for martial artists to study multiple different disciplines.
His concept of modernizing martial arts though WAS original. A number of other fighters had similar concepts at around the same time (e.g. Joe Lewis), but Bruce certainly spearheaded the notion and is likely the primary inspiration for it. I would say it's less accurate to say that Bruce was the first person to learn more than one style of fighting (because he wasn't) so much as he was the first person to do it the way he did; creating his no-style style. He was certainly one of the first true mixed martial artists.

Jon Bluming, Anton Geesink, Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier, George Foreman also the Vale Tudo and the Russian Sambo and Olympic Greco Roman world champions and BJJ world champions of his era would have destroyed Bruce as they would have destroyed his American Karate champion friends.

Okay the guy who says "Freddy this is for your own good." That is Pat E Johnson who knew Bruce Lee and trained under Chuck Norris that guy will later be in The Karate kid movie he was the referee at the all valley tournament near the end of the movie.

A lot of the guys in this film (Bob Wall, Pat Johnson, etc.) were on my black belt testing panel. I was very nervous.
I failed. Not unusual.
Then Chuck decided to go into the movies, closed his dojos, and I had to shrug and move on to something else. But it was a very worthwhile few years of training :).
Sammo Hung,Bruce Lee's opponent at the films beginning is also a highly skilled martial artist starring in countless martial arts films and tv shows as well as working as a fight and stunt coordinator.

At 5:52 The guy with mustache is the also the referee in Karate Kid. Pat E. Johnson. He’s been apart of all the KK movies either acting in them or the fight choreographer or stunt choreographer. He’s also did the choreography for Showdown In Little Tokyo with Bruce’s son Brandon Lee.
Watched Bruce all my life, was lucky enough to meet his daughter Shannon.
Bruce Lee was amazing, he was only 130 lbs. but he had the punch force of a 250 lb. boxer. He was no joke, and he even has 7 martial arts world records. In this movie when he does the big side kick on the bodyguard with the scar on his face, he actually broke the guys ribs. Bruce told he he would hold back, and the actor playing the bodyguard said give me all you got, do Bruce kicked him with his full power and broke his ribs.
His punches were so fast the camera could not pick them up very good, so he had to hit with about 70% power so the camera could see them better. He had his own style of kung fu, he invented it, he said it was all styles and no styles, and he even gave karate lessons to many famous people in Hollywood.
Speed equals power, and he was one of the fastest punchers in the world, which is why he could hit with so much force. They say he had the same punch force as Muhammad Ali the famous boxer, and he weighed 100 lbs. more than Bruce did.
Every scene where it’s suppose to be Bruce doing flips, it was the Landlord from “Kung Fu Hustle”.

I seen this in its Day in 1973, you have to imagine in those days there was no Internet, No VHS, no DVDs, no way of just seeing it again and again when you wanted too, so that Christmas Holidays in 1973 I returned to the Drive Inn Theatre 46 times in 4 weeks and watched it Back to Back night after night, I was 17 years old, these were absolutely amazing times in the 70s with the Huge Twin Drive Inn Theatre's to watch those Movies on, people who lived around the Theatre's would stand out in the Street and on top of their Houses with out sound and just watch Bruce Lee from a far, so this is nearly 50 years ago, with Bell Bottom Flared Pants, and Elvis like Sideburns, so if you enjoyed this Movie as it certainly looks like you did, then imagine seeing something like this in 1973...it literally changed the World on Martial Arts forever till this day...thank you so much for your Reaction, I now love watching it through someone else's eyes in 2021 🤗
in 1968 bruce lee began training kareem abdul jabbar in martial arts. 4 years later, when kareem was reaching the black belt level, his immense height advantage started to make him a very difficult sparring opponent for bruce. so lee had to train harder in certain styles and moves, emphasizing leg sweeps and stuff to regain dominance over jabbar. they fought each other at the end of the movie "game of death", which you need to see.

Hey brother, I'm Joe, greetz from Chicago. I can't tell you how much I liked that reaction!! Instant sub! I sub to a lot of channels featuring Bruce, but I never saw reactions to his movies in the YT feed, Now I see there are others, but this was honestly the 1st time I saw a reaction to ETD, or any entire Bruce movie. I watch a lot of music reactions, for those I hate when reactors jump forward & skip parts of a song or performance. But to react to a movie, you have to cut it. I thought you did a superb job of leaving in the essential scenes, & loved your comments! I only wished you would've left a couple of Jim Kelly's lines, like "Only at how sloppy your man works." LOL, great stuff! I wish he would've survived til the end; seemed like he was doing pretty well against Han until that metal hand messed him up. But he made short work of that jerk from New Zealand, he didn't need the extra focus that he lacked with Han for that clown! Jim (R.I.P.) was a truly badass martial artist and a great person in real life, it was refreshing to hear his interviews when he talked about Bruce; many were talking smack at the time, but he laid it out straight: Bruce was the best!! Still all these ppl talking smack about how any average MMA fighter could easily kill Bruce - a waste of typing, but I always told them "doesn't matter if a movie or sparring footage: LOOK AT HOW HE MOVES!! And the speed, timing & velocity. Who else in the world moves or moved like that? Never an answer to the question from them, just repeating the same old smack....LAME. Sorry for the long message, thanks for this reaction!

Biting a person in a rear naked choke, arm bar, knee bar or any kind of lock would only lead the grappler doing the technique to pull through full force and break the neck, arm, knee, shoulder. Those who do real effective martial arts know. The rest are keyboard warriors commenting about things they never experienced.
If biting is so ineffective, "keyboard warrior," then why does UFC prohibit that technique?

Enter The Dragon's original title was Blood And Steel . It was offered to Bruce Lee while he was filming The Game of Death in Hong Kong . Bruce Lee had the title changed to ETD. The original budget for the movie was only $500K. The original script was heavily re-written. The opening scenes where Lee fight Samu Hong was not in the script. So is the lesson with the kid . Lee did not perform the back flip, flip over the monks and cart wheel kick on Ohara. They used a double for those scenes . The original bad guy Mr Han was supposed to be played by William Smith . He was replaced by Shih Kien. Kien did not speak English. They dubbed his voice and he memorized the lip patterns for his speaking parts. John Saxon and his wife also did some rewrite of the script. They made Baker have a bigger part in the movie . They wrote the dungeon dialogue with Mr. Han. Roper was also not supposed to fight Bolo in the end. It was supposed to be Lee but Saxon insisted he did . And it worked out really well. Jim Kelly was a late substitute for the movie as well. The soundtrack was written by the famous musician, Lalo Schifrin. Bruce Lee insisted to the studios, Lalo write the soundtrack . Lee loved the theme of Mission Impossible. ETD is one of the most profitable movies ever . Some countries had some of the topless and violent scenes deleted . ETD circulated for years in different countries .

3 future Chinese action stars in this.. Sammo Hung (the Fat Dragon), and Jackie Chan. Sammo is the chubby fighter in the opening scene. He was Jackie's "Big Brother" from Chinese Opera school.. and became a major Hong Kong star, choreographer and director. Jackie who followed in his footsteps, and became one of the biggest Chinese stars post Bruce Lee, is the guy who's neck Bruce snaps in that underground fight. Also, Bolo Yeung, the bodybuilder guy, became "Chinese Hercules", and sought after for villian roles.

FYI a lot of the actors in Enter the Dragon were actually Bruce Lee's students... also there was a extra sitting on the wall during the making of this movie that actually challenged Bruce to a real fight, Lee proceeded to kick his ass and continue shooting the movie, this happen to Lee a lot, everybody wanting to see if he was as good as other said, also you are right when he was Kato on the Green Hornet T.V show they actually told him to slow down because back then the Camera couldn't pick up his attacks, because he was so damn fast...
