- Arya Stark with Tywin Lannister, ending of this clip gets me even more excited for “House or Dragon” #gameofthrones #GoT
Isn't ironic that all that is left of his legacy is Tyrion the son he hated
Lannisters are prided with their beauty, and in the books Tyrion is described as being undescribable and unattractive. Him remaining as the legacy not only mocks Tywin but the family name.
Yeah
@@morisakarleign3014 its funny though that none of the lannisters expect jamie and myrcella are attractive in the show.
@@sibi51811 r u serious
@@sibi51811 okay sounds like your own personal preference
Every scene Tywin was in was pure gold. You couldn't help but want to listen and absorb every word he said.
Exactly
ACTUALLY JUST EVERY SCENE HE WAS IN WAS FUCKING PERFECT.
Tywin was about his people. His kids just always went against him but they never saw the bigger picture. FAMILY. That’s what brought the Lannister family down. If they would of stayed United nobody would of been able to fuck with them. Especially if Tywin was alive the dude just had a presence that just fucking demanded respect
@@jdino3517 Bro if Tywin had survived he would've def found a way to clap Dany and her dragons.
Yup.. I love it when he stares down the king and lectures him subtly.
I can’t think of an actor who could have played his role better than he did. Iconic.
Better, no. But I'm sure Bill Nighy would have been brillant!
@@maximedervaux2367 yeah Bill Nighy would have been a great back up choice no doubt.
I haven’t read the books personally, but I’ve read online that of all the characters, Tywin is so much better in the show than he is in the books all thanks to Charles Dance’s powerful and assertive performance
@@Jazz-Singher well yeah Charles Dance is just a legend lol. He's got this presence that just works.
I think that goes on for each and every role
Tywin Lannister... more of a father to Arya Stark than his own children
Not true actually he just doesn’t have any expectations for her. Guarantee he had these conversations with Jaime

Tywin was teaching Arya without even realizing it lol 😂
@@Samir-D9 he knew she was a girl in boy clothes but not a Stark from Winterfell.
Speaking of teaching.she is the only one in the show who had great teachers great sword of bravos, the hound, faceless man, last King in the north and of course to the strongest of the Lannisters not to mention sparring with Brienne of Tarth.
He knew he was teaching her - he liked her & saw her spark & potential.
He also definitely knew she was a high-born runaway pretending to be low-born for whatever reason & he went along with it, even giving her advice on how to play it better.
The odds he knew she was a Stark are pretty low, though, however; he openly talks about the Stark children later & is unaware of the youngest daughter. He may have suspected at some point, but he clearly liked her enough not to give her any trouble - in a way, Arya had the qualities he wished for in Cersei.
@@Samir-D9 People who says Tywin knew all along don't understand the show or his character. If he knew she was Arya Stark, he would have captured her immediately and used her as leverage against the Starks.
@@SadamSalum he also knew she came from a noble family, as he corrected her when she said ‘my lord’. Given that the Stark children were missing, Tywin could quickly connect the dots on who she might be.
@@Samir-D9 there's no way Tywin knew, he's the man who ordered the sacking of Kings Landing in which Highborn children were brutalised. If he knew it was Arya he would have had the war won almost 100%. Tywin was vicious but was never violent unnecessarily, he respected Aryas wits and for once let his better judgement be clouded by who he thought was a capable girl. Remember he made her his cupbearer before learning much about her, he sensed her original smarts and thought she would be a cupbearer who knew how to keep in line around high lords.
The conversations between Arya and Tywin was the best, like a grandpa educating his grand daughter.
Great Acting I could see this 2 working together in future hopefully
*Grandson, cause he never knew she was a girl
@@mahmudabubakar3954 he did know she was a girl, it's one of the first things he says when he meets her. Tywin, he spoke like he was reciting a poem. He had the wisdom of 1000men
And the arrogance as well

Admit it, We all loved Tywin Lannister until he decided to go against his son Tyrion.
Well the show shows Tyrion in a way better spot bc in the Books he genuinly was a disgusting little fuck at least in my opinion
Tyrion was an overrated buffoon. Tywin was The Man.

Tyrion is bad.
These conversations make me feel Arya was the daughter Tywin wanted, and Cersei was the daughter he was stuck with.
Oh come on man !, Cercie was smarter and starder than Arya she is the only women who sat on the Iron throne long time dispite of all her enemies, Cercie is a great bitch but also is a pride for all Lannisters

Arya: “Have you ever loss before?”
Tywin: “they dont call me tylose do they?”
And it was after this phrase, that Tywin never commanded the same amount of respect he once commanded.
Cracked me up 😂

Well, he lose while taking a shit.
Probably the best change from book to show, this interaction between these two was great.
Eh. Made Tywin look like an idiot.
Agreed.
frrr it’s stuff like this that makes the show special
True.
I always felt robbed that even though Tywin was literally at Harrenhal the same time Arya was, it was Roose Bolton who interacted with Arya.
The change in the show made it so much better.
It sad because, as cruel as Tywin was, he was a brilliant leader, statesman, and general. He brought prestige and power to his families name. Yes he bet on the wrong children. And was blinded by his ego. Which lead his legacy to be Joffre, Cersai and the fall of the 7 kingdoms.
He wasn't cruel they were at war his acts were necesarry to find weakness of his enemies.
@@thedog1368He was cruel and "war" is no excuse. Ned was at war too and he still remained honourable, not a swine that tells his soldier to r*pe Elia Martell, what was necessary about that?
You're delusional to think war means you stop being accountable for your actions.
There is a literal whole stuff about "WAR CRIMES" you dumb buffoon.
The Tywin-Arya arc had some of my favorite scene in the whole show
I could hear Tywin speak all day, what a glorified character and what an amazing portrayal
He narrated a NatGeo show about lions ; hyenas ; and cheetahs ; etc. ---
It had a Game of Thrones type theme
Arya: "have you ever lost before?"
Tywin: "read my name"
tywinberg
It makes more sense imo for Arya to serve Tywin in the show than Roose in the books. The Starks and Lannisters are intensly intertwined and it's neat to have this little snapshot of one of the eldest and the youngest of each family gain an understanding of each other (if not unknowingly)
I wanted him to know at some point that it was Arya who was his cup bearer at Haran Hall, and that she slaughtered the Fray house and revenged the red wedding! The North remembers!!!
She was looking for an opportunity to kill him, but she just couldn't get to him. She came close though. But just not close enough.
*Harren Hall *House Frey *avenged
"The North remembers", my arse. If the North were in school, it would be that one student who is not smart at all, but just memorizes all the answers.
In the books she isn't with tywin. She's with roose bolton. Not that any1 asked
@@chewyskywalker6166 Pretty sure that's not Aria. I'm almost positive she is still in Braavos
He subconsciously recognized the nobility in Arya, it was an interesting relationship.
Tywin Lannister, one of my favorite characters of GOT. He's clever, wise, calm, ruthless and is an unrivaled leader.
I love how her reflex kicks in when he's turned away from her. Just like a cat
Did anyone else really like the interactions between Tywin and Arya? I imagine that if the Starks and Lannisters wouldn't have been enemies Tywin would have been a great mentor for her
Charles Dance. Brilliant!!!
Seriously these clips make me really remember how good the show was and just upsets me all over again on how it ended
man this show was so damn good in its prime.
💯
It's very ironic they always treated tyrion as he is the greatest failure for the family yet he only lannister who survived
But anyway, of the Lannisters, Tyrion is actually the one who did the least. I mean he's the King's hand, but because Tywin sent him on his behalf. He will become Daenerys's, but it doesn't matter in Westeros. I mean, Cersei was queen, Jaime is considered the best swordman in Westeros and he killed the Mad King, Tywin is the richest and most powerful man in Westeros, not only for the gold of the Rock, but also because he brought the Lannisters to glory.
Not only that he survived but he IS the de facto King of the four kingdoms as Bran the Broken left everything in the hands of his hand Tyrion. Amazing!!!
@@Craigtuckett Oh yes that's true, I forgot that. But Tywin still remains the best Lannister.
🐍
I could listen to him talk all day
Same
Arya was the child he always wanted.
Lol what? He even said to her she reminded him of his daughter when she was younger. Arya definitely wouldnt of taken the role of a simple wife to make children when she grew up.
To be honest these two had the best chemistry of them all.
Tywin Lannister maybe many vile things but his wisdom was his redeeming factor. If only Tywin’s twins listened to him or if only he bothered to surpass this wisdom to Tyrion without despising him.
Arya looking at the back of his neck like " I can end your legacy right now "
They could gave done that moment better. She should have had a knife in her hand, to make it clear what she was thinking. 🔪 🔪
yes so Im wondering?
And now everyone in the kingdom knows only about him meeting his death on the toilet.
The greatest ones are remembered by how great they fall, indeed

Strange how some of his best most wholesome moments were with Arya. Seems he respected her intellect, more than the grown men around him.
We needed so much more Tywin and Arya time, some characters together just had a certain feel to it
I just want a short with rory mcann and Charles dance when the hound comes into house lannisters service/debt. Those two embodied their roles more than anyone else and poured every ounce of passion they could into their roles, they were perfection.
Fantastic! Gorgeous!
The scenes with Tywin and Arya are some of my favs.
It's ironic that for all his efforts to eradicate the Starks and pass down a great legacy, Tywin's lineage is almost dead and 3 Starks end up ruling the continent.
In a way, his legacy still lives through tyrion and arya
The fact that Tyrion was the only Lannister to survive is poetic justice!
If Arya was a Lannister, she’ll be Tywin’s favorite
definitely 💯
I doubt it. Cersei as a kid wanted to be a boy like jaime. just as Arya now and it frustrated Tywin a lot.
"Ending to this clip gets me more excited than (HoD)".
*Cuts it early*
Absolutely! Cheers!
I love the foreshadowing of him hanging out in a burnt down castle talking about a man who thought he was leaving behind a legacy. It's just so appropriate and the writing was still good when they wrote this.
Lol Tywin's "children's children" as he puts it are literally well... The children of his children.......
His voice has so much authority. He sounds like a leader of men, no doubt.
i don’t care what anyone says he had at least an inkling of who she really was
He did, probably just respected her for the wits and enjoyed the conversation
Maybe an inkling but he wouldn’t look into it. To a degree Tywin wants the war to continue, he says it himself it’s his last war regardless if he wins or loses. Obviously he wants to win so he can cement himself in history as one of the greatest lords of the seven kingdoms, if he has Arya the war is that much closer to coming to an end with both stark girls as hostages as well as Jamie for the northerners.
He definitely knew she was a highborn girl from the North, I dont think he knew it was Arya herself for a moment, or he would not have let her out of his grasp
He seems a guy that if he caught a Stark girl he wouldn't just let her go.
@@mattplata7469 probably not.
By the gods the dialog was strong then
I wished there was a scene where Tywin and Arya reunited, realizing who she is. I'm just curious how that dialogue would've been like
I always thought the same thing! He would've been impressed and pissed 😂
Some say he knew...
He was such an awful man, but also such an aspiring and brilliant one.
The Tywin Arya chemistry was incredible. Charles Dance was phenomenal in the role but shined even more than usual in these scenes. For me, these 2 were arguably the best short-term duo on the screen.
Every true man's dream is to deliver his legacy to his children and through them to his grandchildren.
Tywin lannister. Easily one of my favourite characters in all of GoT.
His legacy, being killed when shitting, by son with he despised... :D
He got caught slipping
"The lion" was pooping 🌚
Proof that you can be a noble man without being a good man
This man is amazing. The character and the actor.
Tywin ruled.
Arya was so cute.
Bruh
Bug eyed goblin girl
This was one of the most fascinating relationships to watch unfold, I wish there had been more scenes as I learned more about each on a personal level than any other.
The thing that makes a villain so scary and memorable is that they believe in what they're doing is right and regardless of how cruel and ugly their actions are they feel justified because it's for the greater good. And the audience may not agree with what they're doing but they understand it, which forces the audience to look within themselves when they can resonate with the villain.
For years no one mentions the symbolism,
When working with wild cats especially lions never turn your back to them it kicks their kill instinct online
Tywin catches her stalking him and and immediatly feels familial resemblance, because he too does the same thing, all the lannisters do
Thos human conversation he had with Arya made me wish Tywin was on the good guys side.
their are no "good guys"
@@firewarrior35 A very very arguable statement.
At first I thought, it was odd that Tywin would choose to pour his heart to a random kid who could be somebody's spy. But the dialogue was good and oddly touching in it's ability to humanize Tywin. And Macy was brilliant in her ability to shine in scenes, with such incredible actors.
in a different world Arya would’ve made the perfect student for Tywin. Loved every second of them conversing.
His legacy turns out being shot with an arrow by his dwarf son while on the potty 😂🤣😅 and for all his accomplishments that is how history will remember him
I could listen to Charles Dance reading aloud a takeaway menu
The whole time he never knew he had a Stark in his hands.
Two of the fiercest warriors of two great houses
One embraced tyranny and died by his own legacy
One embraced the reality and shone by her legacy
During that whole time Arya learned and respected Tywin. He was the main one I respected then Ned then Stannis… Robert is a mention lol
This is a great speech, especially when comparing to Arya’s arc where she becomes No One. No One vs. Legacy. What great writing.0
Charles Dance can make anything great.
Dude was a savage but everytime tywin was on the scene he was pretty damn good
I THINK he Knew who she was, He was an "awesome" Leader, With Horrible Children.
I had often thought perhaps he did know, but what gain did he earn not clapping her in chains. He definitely sheltered her.
@@dgcaz1 tywin wasnt evil he was loyal to his family and cruel as a man because he had too but he wouldnt Put a child in chains if it wasnt neccesary if he knew than he also knew that no one knew.
There was no need for him to do anything.
He wasnt like cersei tywin was a reasonable man.
He would do everything to protect his familys name just like every leader of a house in the series but he would never do something like killing a child if he hasnt a good reason for it.
If he would have been alive he would have supported the north vs the dead just like jamie he was a man of honor who made unhonorable decisions
@@nicoschmelzer5527 he wasn't man of honor, but vs undead he would do practical thing.
I do doubt it, she is waaay to precious to be left as a "pampered" prisonner just like Sansa, after all, at tha moment Robb Stark is still a "king" who must me take seriously, having a grasp on his sister is priceless, therefore it makes absolutly no sens to leave Arya since she can be traded to that Stark of Jaime or other things such as a surrending for instance. Plus if I remember well, he does complain to his daughter and the Small Council that they failed to track her down, why lecturing them about that if himself willingly did let her "free"?
Moreover, Tywin is still a very conservative man, especially regarding rank and nobility, even as a prisonner, Arya is still a lady from one of the most prestigious noble house in the whole continent, he would have not treated her that way.
Just WOW...
Tywin was such a great character and the actor was fantastic
I loved these two together, I wish there was more.
Epic. I think he knew who she was all the time but it amused him to shelter and teach her like he did.
Naaa, this was one of those plot armors that ended up being sentimental, brilliant and memorable. Realistically, Tywin would have investigated her, ceased her, then married her to someone strategic to him.
poor guy he was killed while his pooping
He deserved it
Such is the fate of a man who killed a nephew at his uncle’s wedding…
Charles Dance is just such a talented, amazing, fascinating actor. I also love him as Emperor Emyr in The Witcher 3 game
I often wondered if he realized how much he seemed to enjoy their conversations. I believe she valued em if nothing else
Feel your neck that’s the feeling of a king
Arya - Have you ever lost before
Lord tywin - my name is tywin not tylose
Great casting makes for great shows. No 2 shows ever cast so well as GoT & LOST. Still amazing gems to this day. At least LOST nailed the ending.
Something I learned was that Charles Dance, the acting legend he is, made sure to make Maisie as comfortable as possible when they shared a scene together.
In this scene i feel the message is tywin wished that arya was lannister
Unpopular fact: Tywin was a much better father than Ned. Ned left his children while at their most vulnerable to willingly die all for his pride and honor. Tywin sacrificed everything for family legacy. Tywin was The Man and Ned was a pompous self righteous clown.
One of the best characters and the actor did a splendid job!!
The fact that Tywin likes more an Stark girl than any of his grandchildren is so ironic.
Name of music 🎶?
Hard to believe it's the same actor from alien 3. Didn't realize until much later. He's a really good actor and this was a great role for him!
I loved this scene so much. One of my favorites❤️
What do you think Tywin would have done if he found out who she was after their somewhat of a “bonding”?
Pretty sure he always had a decent inkling, either just never looked far into it out of respect for her wit, or thought if worst came to worst, he could use her as a hostage when it came to the Starks
He would have married her off to a house that was strategic to him.
